“Dad!” Archer knew that Gavin was competing with Hayden, so he immediately tried to persuade him. “You don’t have to do this.”
Gavin straightened his back and asked, “Why not? He’s a grandfather and I’m my great-grandfather. What’s wrong with giving out 1500 dollars? It’s not like we can’t afford it.”
“We don’t have to care about the money, but you still have to consider Valeria and William’s company? Don’t they have to give out bonuses as well? Why don’t you let them give it out instead?”
This explanation made Gavin feel much more comfortable, so he turned to look at Hayden and said, “Then I’ll give out the same amount as you. We’ll represent Valeria while you can represent Wiliam to give out 600 dollars.”
Hayden didn’t have any objections either, so this matter was settled in such a pleasant manner.
Evelyn was in a good mood in the Wolf Group Hotel. She kept toasting everyone and the meal lasted for more than an hour.
Evelyn received a text message in the hotel. “Valeria fell down in the private room and she was sent to the hospital by the bodyguards!”
A look of delight flashed across Evelyn’s face as she read the message. This was such a great thing! Valeria fell down when she was heavily pregnant and the hospital was so far away. She felt that it was impossible for Valeria to come out unscathed.
She really wished that Valeria could die along with the twins. That way, Evelyn could easily attain her position as Madam Howard.
Evelyn put down her phone and immediately got up to pour some wine because she was in a good mood.
Francis saw that his granddaughter’s behavior tonight was completely different from usual. He looked at Evelyn in surprise and said, “Evelyn, I think you have enough. You drank too much tonight!”
“I’m fine, I’ll drink one last glass.” Evelyn raised her glass with a smile because she had to celebrate such good news!
The four of them clinked their glasses. Evelyn did not have the mood to stay any longer after she finished the last glass. She had to find out what happened next, so they left the room together.
Francis and Frederick returned to the presidential suite. After that, Evelyn and Thomas left the Wolf Group together and went their separate ways at the entrance of the hotel.
They both called their designated drivers since they drank. Evelyn got into the car and ordered her driver to go straight to the hotel. On the way, she sent a message to the person she hired and asked, “What was the situation when she was sent to the hospital?”
“She was helped away by bodyguards. Our men were too far away, so we only heard her screaming before getting in the car and she looked like she was in pain.”
“Didn’t you follow them to see what happened?”
“No, I asked someone to delete the surveillance footage of the restaurant and arranged for them to leave. After all, the bodyguard protecting Valeria is not easy to deal with. He knew that someone had set up a trap in the private room, so he was very careful when he went downstairs.”
“Well, it’s useless to say anything now, so we should just wait for the results! Since the traces have been cleaned up, you should leave B City for a while and come back when everything is settled.”
Evelyn took off her clothes and went into the bathroom to take a shower back at the hotel. She put a few drops of rose oil and took a relaxing bath. Her cell phone was blowing up with calls and notifications, but she ignored it all. She didn’t plan on answering any calls tonight because she was drunk and she would settle everything tomorrow.
She believed that she would see the headlines she wanted tomorrow morning.
Thomas threw away the phone that Evelyn bought after he returned home. He opened the drawer and took out the spare mobile phone he had at home to send a message to his assistant on WhatsApp. “Help me get a SIM card, I lost my phone.”
The assistant immediately replied, “Okay! I’ll do it early tomorrow morning!”
“Did anything happen tonight?” Thomas asked again.
“Nothing.”
Thomas was relieved that nothing had happened. He was about to take a shower and rest when he received a message from Valeria. “Hello, Mr. Gurney! I am Bobby, Madam Valeria’s bodyguard. I have something to ask you. Why didn’t you go to dinner with Young Madam tonight?”
Thomas was stunned when he saw the message. When did he plan to have dinner with Valeria?
“I didn’t plan a dinner with her. What’s going on?”
“Are you sure?” Bobby obviously did not believe Thomas’s words.
“I’m sure! Did something happen?” Thomas realized that something was wrong and Valeria must’ve been in trouble. Otherwise, her mobile phone would not be in the hands of her bodyguard and he wouldn’t be questioned like this.
Bobby sent a screenshot of the conversation between Thomas and Valeria. Thomas then broke out in a cold sweat when he saw the content clearly.
Who had used his name to ask Valeria out for a meal? This person clearly had other intentions behind this, so Thomas immediately asked, “How is Valeria now? Did something happen to her?”
Instead of answering Thomas’s question, Bobby asked, “I just want to know who sent the message to Madam and who had your phone before this.”
“I lost my mobile phone in the afternoon,” Thomas told Bobby about his mobile phone being robbed.
Bobby didn’t quite believe his words. “Mr. Gurney, Madam received your text message to invite her to dinner almost immediately after your phone was snatched away. Isn’t this too coincidental?”
Thomas knew that it was really very coincidental, so it was normal for Bobby to suspect him. He wanted to know how Valeria was doing now. “How is she now? Is she hurt?”
“Thanks to you, Madam Valera fell at the place you invited her to. Someone messed with the floor of the private room and the stairs.”
“Who could be so vicious and shameless? We must find the culprit right away!” Thomas was furious.
“We have the same thoughts as you, so we hope you can cooperate with us to investigate this matter clearly.”
“Of course! Bobby, I know that you’re very anxious about what happened to Valeria and I feel the same way too. I treat her like a sister and I won’t hurt her no matter what.”
“I believe you, but Madam is not your sister, right?”
“I have an alibi. My phone was robbed when it was with Evelyn, who is the only daughter of the Gurney family. Francis knows about this as well and you can check the hospital’s surveillance footage as evidence. If you don’t believe me, you can take it out and have a look.”
Bobby didn’t send another message, but Thomas was very anxious. He asked Bobby, “Can you tell me what’s going on with Valeria? I’m really worried about her!”
“William can care for her just fine, so you don’t have to worry about it!”
Thomas could see the hostility in Bobby’s message. Was Valeria okay? Nothing bad could happen to her!
Thomas was in no mood to take a shower and he was frantically trying to find out if Valeria was safe.
The Floyd family should know if something happened to Valeria. Thomas sent a voice message to Callum. “Mr. Floyd, do you know what happened to Valeria? Something happened to her tonight, but I don’t know much about the situation. Can you tell me if you hear about it? I’m very worried about her!”
