Valeria didn’t know how to answer Abbie’s question. She wanted to tell Abbie about it when she heard it from William, but she also knew in her heart that it wouldn’t be a good thing for Abbie to know about it.
Since there were some things that Abbie had forgotten, there was no need to bring them up again. She chose to hide it for Abbie’s sake, but she didn’t expect that Abbie would suddenly find out about it.
Abbie asked her again, “Valeria, how much do you know about what happened that year?”
“Well, I don’t know really know. I wouldn’t have known that you and Michael were once together if he didn’t start to pursue you again. I know that you hated Michael very much after losing your memory and I wanted to tell you about what happened, but I didn’t know how to explain it. Since you forgot about everything, it wouldn’t be good for me to mention it so casually.”
Abbie knew that Valeria did this for her sake, so she had no right to blame her. “Valeria, I don’t blame you for this. I just want to know what happened.”
“I heard my husband talk about your memory loss before. He said that Michael had a good relationship with you, but someone framed him and you caught him in the act. You had a car accident when you drove away and you lost your memory after that.”
“Is Michael innocent? Did he do anything wrong?”
“That’s what my husband told me. Anyway, William won’t lie to me, so I think all this should be true.”
Abbie didn’t really believe that Michael was completely innocent. “I don’t believe anyone anymore. Your husband and Michael are friends, so he will naturally speak for him. I want to figure it out by myself!”
“Abbie, don’t be rash!”
“I won’t, so you don’t have to worry! By the way, Valeria, please don’t tell Michael about my pregnancy! Listen to me and keep this from him!”
Valeria immediately got up and went to the study to look for William because she was worried about Abbie. When she walked to the door of the study, she heard William making a phone call. “I’ve arranged for people to deal with tonight’s matter. The waitress in the restaurant has apologized after she offended Miss Gurney. However. Miss Gurney was still upset and the waitress was fired immediately.”
Francis was very angry on the other end of the phone. Evelyn had cried after the waiter bumped into her and humiliated her. “Are you planning to just fire her?”
“What do you want to do? Do you want the waitress to go to jail just because she bumped into Miss Gurney? Is that reasonable?”
“Nothing is impossible if you want to do it.”
Did Francis actually want him to deal with that waitress? Was he crazy?
Not only that, but this whole accident was part of Willia’s plan. Even if it wasn’t, why did William have to help the Gurney family?
William was getting impatient, but his voice was very calm. “Mr. Gurney, you seem to have made a mistake. The Gurney family and I are partners, and I’m not your subordinate. We can terminate the contract if you don’t wish to cooperate with us. Also, let me remind you that our society is bounded by the law. Information is widespread and no one can cover up their act completely. This matter will only bring trouble if it’s spread out. For the sake of the Gurney family and your reputation, you’d better think twice.”
Francis was rendered speechless by William’s words. He was used to pointing fingers at others, so he forgot who he was calling. William was a man who could do whatever he wanted in B City, so he wouldn’t give into Francis so easily.
Valeria walked in and asked when she saw that William had hung up the phone, “Who was that?”
“Someone from the Gurney family.” William’s expression was stern. When he saw Valeria, he quickly calmed down and his voice became much gentler. “What can I do for you?”
“Abbie just called me and said that she was pregnant.”
William was also shocked. “So sudden?”
Valeria frowned and said, “Yes, it happened very suddenly. It’s not a bad thing for Michael and Abbie, but she found out about her memory loss. She called me to ask about it, but I didn’t know what happened at that time. Honey, are you sure that Michael is not a bad guy?”
“Yes, he has never done anything bad to Abbie.”
“But she doesn’t trust Michael anymore. She said that she would investigate this matter in person, and she also told me to keep her pregnancy a secret from Michael. What should I do now? I’m really worried.”
William frowned and thought for a moment. “Tell Richard about this. We can’t hide Abbie’s memory loss anymore.”
“You are not allowed to tell Richard about Abbie’s pregnancy!”
“Got it. I won’t tell him.”
William immediately called Richard, who picked up and said casually, “Are you calling me so late to have a drink with me?”
“Do you think I’m that free? I called to ask you about Abbie. Valeria said that she found out about her memory loss. How are you going to deal with it?”
“I’ve booked a plane ticket for tomorrow and I’ll explain it to her.”
“In that case, I’m relieved. By the way, will you deliberately speak ill of Michael when you explain it to her? Richard, you should know how Michael is.”
“I won’t put in a good word for Michael and I won’t say anything bad about him. I’ll just tell her what I saw.”
Richard’s words made William frown. Richard found Michael and Josephine in the same room. Was Richard planning to tell Abbie about this?
“Richard, you should think twice! We all know that Michael was framed. Now that Abbie has lost his memory, you should pretend to be confused and omit some of the details. Isn’t it a good thing for Michael to be with Abbie?”
Richard chuckled and said, “How can I not feel sorry for my own sister? Michael called me and told me that he had found Josephine. I’m going to see what happened this time. I know what to do if I am sure that he was really framed.”
William was relieved when he heard Richard’s words. Then, he hung up and comforted Valeria, “It’s okay. Richard knows the consequences of his actions. Since Michael has found the woman that plotted against him that year, everything will be solved when Richard finds out about the situation.”
Azalea let out a sigh of relief after she sent Abbie a few more messages to drive a wedge between her and Michael. She then called Meadow’s subordinate. “What did Abbie do today?”
“She went to the hospital.”
“What for? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I was just about to tell you. She went to the hospital to check on her injuries when she fell down and she went to the orthopaedics department after that. I spent some time looking for the doctors in the hospital to inquire about the situation. I just learned that she’s pregnant!”
“Is this true?” Azalea cried out involuntarily.
“It’s true. The doctor told me with certainty that she’s at least 6 weeks pregnant.”
“Oh no!” Azalea’s phone fell to the ground.
