Chapter 1352 Giving Birth

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Abbie was so shocked that she almost jumped up. “How… how is this possible?”
“Your symptoms are a little like a sign of miscarriage. You’d better do a pregnancy test first.”
Abbie thought back to the time when she and Michael were together. It seemed that he didn’t wear protection every time they slept together, so it was really possible for her to be pregnant.
Abbie did a test and the doctor told her a few minutes later, “You’re pregnant!”
Abbie didn’t know what to do for a while after her pregnancy was confirmed.
The doctor asked her patiently again, “Do you want to keep this child?”
“I don’t know.” Abbie really didn’t know. She never thought that she would get pregnant, nor did she consider whether she should keep the child.
No matter what, she wasn’t married now. Although Michael had proposed to her, marriage and giving birth to a child was two separate matters.
Moreover, a woman who had an affair with Michael before suddenly appeared and Abbie seemed to have lost a part of her memory. She did not dare to have a baby before she figured out all these things.
The doctor suggested that Abbie should stay in the hospital when he saw how absent-minded she was. How could she dare to stay in the hospital? She couldn’t let Helen know that she was pregnant. “Can I not stay here? I don’t want my family to know about this.”
“Then I’ll prescribe you some medicine for your pregnancy. Remember to take the medicine and lie in bed to rest.”
The doctor prescribed some medicine for Abbie and told her to recuperate at home. Then, she took the medicine home with a heavy heart.
Her servants and bodyguards did not know about her pregnancy. When they returned to the Clark family’s villa, Helen asked about Abbie’s condition with concern.
Abbie twitched the corner of her mouth and said, “The doctor said I’m fine, but I’m a little tired. I want to go back to my room and lie down. Mom, I want to drink some chicken soup. Can you ask Auntie to cook it for me?”
Helen agreed and watched as Abbie went upstairs. Helen turned to ask the servant who followed her, “What did the doctor say about Miss’ injury?”
“The doctor said it’s nothing serious because it’s just a superficial wound. She’ll recover soon. By the way, Madam, her period came. She said that she had a stomachache and went to the orthopaedics department to have a look. The doctor prescribed some medicine.”
Helen was worried that Abbie was pregnant, so she felt relieved when she heard that Abbie had her period and ordered the servants, “Make chicken soup for Abbie and give her some nourishing products.”
Helen was still a little worried after she ordered the servants. After all, Abbie had brought up the car accident on her own. Helen was worried that Abbie would think of what happened in the past.
She immediately looked for Richard and said, “Richard, there’s something wrong with Abbie today.”
“What’s wrong?”
“She got up this morning and fell down. She even told me about her car accident and said that she dreamt of it. I feel that she’s been acting strange and I’m worried about her. What do you think?”
The doctor did say that Abbie’s memory could be restored. Was she going to regain his memory? The first thought that came to Richard’s mind after hearing Helen’s words was that Abbie’s amnesia was going to be cured.
However, he felt that something wasn’t right when he thought about it carefully. Abbie’s memory loss was caused by Natasya’s hex, so how could she regain her memory if the hex hasn’t been removed?
Someone must have told her about the car accident. He told Helen his own thoughts. “It’s impossible for her to dream about it, so someone must have said something to her. Azalea knew what happened that year very well and I’m guessing she told Abbie about it.”
“Is that so? Isn’t Azalea too despicable?” Helen was furious. “We have treated her well. Although she had evil intentions towards us in the past, I would turn a blind eye to her schemes. If she’s really behind this, I would never forgive her.”
It was the first time that Helen had shown such undisguised disgust for Azalea, so Richard knew that Helen was really irritated.
Richard did not want Helen to get involved in the matter between Abbie and Azalea. After all, Helen had a very good reputation and her name would be tainted if she got involved in Azalea’s matter. “Mom, you don’t have to worry about this. I’ll handle it. By the way, did she have any other reaction other than telling you about her dream?”
“She didn’t say anything else and she seems normal. I’m very worried because she’s being way too normal. Richard, I don’t think it’s good for us to hide her memory loss. Do you think we should tell her about what happened between her and Michael? She will definitely give up if she knows that he’s a jerk and she’ll be happy in the end.”
Richard sighed. “I don’t know whether she will believe it or not if I tell her the truth now. I thought that she would not be entangled with Michael when she lost her memory at that time, so I concealed everything from her. Now that she and Michael are starting to have old feelings again, she will definitely think that we made up a story to separate her and Michael. This way, she will be more determined to stay with Michael.”
“Are we really not going to do anything?”
“That’s right! Let’s see what Azalea is going to do next. If she tells Abbie about the memory loss, I believe she has other things up her sleeves. Let’s just wait and see.”
Helen felt that it was inappropriate to do so. “How can we stand by and watch as Azalea spout nonsense in front of Abbie? What should we do? Azalea is not a good person and she will definitely use despicable methods against us. I really don’t want to see the past repeat itself!”
Richard knew what Helen was worried about, so he comforted her and said, “I will arrange for someone to keep an eye on her. Mom, don’t worry. That won’t happen again.”
Josephine immediately told Azalea about Abbie’s attitude when she received such a nonchalant reply. Azalea did not expect that Abbie would become so smart after she lost her memory and she wasn’t jealous at all.
She couldn’t carry out her plan if Abbie didn’t care about the matter at all. Of course, Azalea would not let Michael take Josephine back to the country.
She called Meadow and asked, “Aunt Meadow, can you lower the guard of the bodyguards to let Josephine escape?”
“Sure! I’ll talk to Wayne and let him arrange it.”
Michael had arranged for the bodyguards of the Davis family to keep watch on Josephine. Naturally, they would listen to Wayne as well. After he gave the order, the bodyguards pretended not to pay attention to let Josephine escape without any obstruction.
Michael heard from his bodyguard that Josephine refused to hand over her passport, so he felt that something was wrong and came to check it out in person.
When he arrived at the place where Josephine was locked up, he found that she was no longer in the room. Michael didn’t expect that she could escape like this, so he angrily scolded the bodyguards that were on duty.
Then, he immediately arranged for people to look for Josephine. Richard called him and said, “Didn’t you say that you found Josephine? I thought about it and decided that I’ll do it for your sake. I’ll fly to where you are and check out the situation tomorrow.”
