After Aurora pretended to be unconscious after fighting with Veronica and was sent to her bedroom, she heard Veronica and Ornard arguing in the living room. She thought that Ornard would put Veronica in her place, but Ornard only left the house after smashing things.
Ornard didn’t dare to have a fallout with Veronica in fear of his secrets that she knew.
Aurora knew it was unrealistic to get Ornard on her side now. But since she had already fought with Veronica, she didn’t want to continue pretending.
She had to take the initiative, and having children was the only trump card she had over Veronica.
Aurora then sat up and called Ornard. Ornard refused to answer the call, and Aurora kept on calling. After a few calls, Ornard finally answered viciously, “Why are you calling me? Do you think you have not caused enough trouble for me?”
Aurora sobbed and apologized. “I’m sorry!”
“What could change even if you apologize? I’ve told you not to mess with her. Did you ignore my instructions on purpose?”
“I didn’t do it on purpose. I never thought of arguing with her. When I got home, she gloated and asked me if the baby was dead. It was too hurtful, so I couldn’t hold back and argued with her. She was the one who hit me first, and I had no choice but to fight back.”
“That’s enough. I know she was the one who hit you first. But since you fought so badly with her, you two can’t stay in the same house anymore. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
Did Ornard mean for her to move out? Aurora’s heart was filled with hatred, but she only cried and said, “I understand. I will move out and not cause any more trouble for you. I have thought things through.”
“What have you thought through?” Ornard asked.
“I know I can’t be stubborn anymore. I will listen to everything you say from now on. You told me that you could have another child with me. I will agree to that.”
Ornard reminded her, “If you have another child with me, you will have to give up on him. Are you sure about this?”
Aurora was pretending to cry before. But when Ornard asked this, she started crying real tears. “I’m sure of it! But… But I have a request. Can we leave him as he is?”
“What do you mean?”
“If he survives, we will leave him as he is. We won’t resuscitate him on purpose… What I mean is, we will leave him to fate.”
Ornard was silent for a moment. According to the doctor, the possibility of the child surviving was close to zero. So he agreed. “Okay!”
With tears streaming down her face, Aurora hung up the phone. She put her palms together and said, “It’s not that I’m cruel, but there’s nothing I can do! May God keep you so that Santhos, you will live! I’m begging you to live!”
In a bedroom on the same floor, Veronica laid in bed and looked at the ceiling in a daze.
The wound on her face was hurting slightly. As she calmed down after the fight, Veronica found herself to be ridiculous.
What could she change even if she made a fuss only for the sake of her pride? She couldn’t change anything, and Ornard would only despise her even more while Aurora would become more unruly and arrogant.
Aurora’s words echoed in her ears. She couldn’t bear children, and she was old and ugly and abandoned as a baby.
She had been so furious earlier that she couldn’t hold back her anger. Now that she thought about it, she realized that what Aurora said was true.
Without her youth and beauty and without her ability to become a mother, she was already a burden to Ornard. But Aurora, on the other hand, was in her prime time. She was young and beautiful, and she could have children with Ornard.
Even though she killed Santhos, Ornard could have another child with Aurora. Even if it’s not with Aurora, he could have children with other women as well.
But Veronica could never have children of her own. So why would she need to fulfill Ornard’s desires?
Ornard was her enemy, and Veronica’s goal was to seek revenge from Ornard. As long as Ornard loses everything, everything else would not be a big deal anymore.
Veronica suddenly had an idea. If Ornard lost the ability to have children, would it mean that she would be able to have her revenge?
Veronica then turned over and sat up. She used her phone and started looking for drugs that would kill a man’s fertility.
The next morning, Abbie got up early. After washing up, she went downstairs to have breakfast with Helen, and then hurried back to her room.
She then changed into a set of beautiful clothes, put on nice makeup, and went downstairs with her bag.
Helen was watching the news in the living room. When she heard the sound, she looked over and asked, “Are you going out?”
“Yes, I made an appointment with a friend.”
“Can you push it? I’m going to the hospital later. Accompany me for my checkup and meet your friend some other time.”
“Mom, I’ve already made an appointment with him. How can I push the date? You can wait till the afternoon to go for your checkup.”
As Abbie insisted on going out, Helen didn’t say anything else. “Okay, come back early.”
Abbie promised as she hurried out of the house. As Helen watched Abbie walk out, she immediately called Richard, “She has gone out again while dressing up pretty nicely. She must be meeting Michael. Damn the guy. Why is he so shameless? Richard, are you sure there’s no need to confine her?”
“There’s no need. I’ll arrange for someone to keep an eye on them. It’ll be fine, so relax.”
“How can I relax? What is going on? Is Abbie under his spell? Richard, what if Abbie doesn’t want to give up on him?”
“We’ll talk about it when it comes to that. Now listen to me and pretend you don’t know about it.”
Helen had no other good idea. “I’m saying this first. If she still doesn’t listen, ground her for a year or more. I don’t believe she would still be thinking about that Davis then.”
Under a tree a few miles away from the Clark family’s mansion, Michael sat in his car and kept looking at his watch.
When he saw Abbie appearing in his rear-view mirror with her bag, Michael breathed a sigh of relief.
He immediately got out of the car and opened the door. Abbie got in the car with a smile. “Am I pretty today?”
“You’re gorgeous! Abbie, hurry and turn off your phone.”
“Why should I turn off my phone?”
“I’m worried that your brother will track your phone. When he finds out that we are going to get our marriage license, he will definitely stop us.”
“I see. I’ll turn it off right away!” Abbie took out her phone from her bag and turned it off. The car then left the mansion.
The car went straight to the city hall, and the men sent by Richard were tailing right behind them. When they saw Michael and Abbie heading towards the city hall, the bodyguards immediately reported it to Richard.
Richard was so angry that he laughed. After a whole day of calming himself, Richard didn’t want to beat up Michael anymore as he knew he could change nothing even after beating Michael up. Abbie would surely make a fuss after finding out, and that would affect their brother-sister relationship. It would be his loss if Abbie sides with Michael completely then.
So he wouldn’t beat up Michael, but he would interfere with all of his plans.
Richard then instructed the bodyguards, “Find a way to cause a disturbance outside so that they can’t obtain their marriage license.”
Abbie and Michael entered the city hall and started filling out the forms. When they were halfway through, there was a loud noise outside.
With the loud noise came the clamors of people. “It’s a terrorist attack! Hurry! There are shooters! Run quickly!”
