Thomas did not believe that Evelyn’s purpose was so simple. “That’s it?”
“Yes. You just need to call Valeria and ask her what she is doing now. I’m here alone, and I won’t be able to do anything to her, right?”
Thomas stared at Evelyn for a while, and then dialed Valeria’s number. Valeria answered in a gentle tone. “Mr. Gurney?”
“Valeria, I didn’t disturb you, did I?” Thomas’s voice was much softer compared to when he was talking to Evelyn.
“Nope, what’s the matter?”
“Nothing. I just remembered that I haven’t contacted you for a while, so I called you. Are you okay recently?”
“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Gurney. I’m fine!” Valeria’s voice was soft and light, and there was no trace of unhappiness in it too.
Thomas turned on the speaker and Evelyn heard it clearly. She was shocked, as things shouldn’t be this way!
Even if Valeria wasn’t jealous, she wouldn’t be so calm after she saw the intimate photos of her husband and other women, right?
Was Valeria pretending? She could be very unhappy and trying to act like she was fine, right?
It must be the case! Evelyn waited for Thomas to hang up the phone and immediately asked, “What kind of person is Valeria?”
“A smart, kind, lovely, and beautiful person.”
“Such a good review from you, huh?” Evelyn was displeased. “Do you know that women are good at disguising themselves? There are many women who are different in front of different people…”
Thomas interrupted her. “Valeria is not the kind of person like you say. Do you have anything else to do, Ms. Gurney? If there is nothing else, I will leave now!”
“There’s one last question. Do you think Valeria gets jealous easily? How controlling is she over William?”
Thomas smirked ironically. He looked at Evelyn for a long time before he said, “Valeria is beautiful, comes from a good family, and she is kind plus she married such an excellent husband. Normally, others are the ones jealous of her, and she has no time or energy to envy others. As for her control over William? Hah, as far as I know, she never controls him. It is always William who is willing to revolve his world around her.”
Thomas looked at Evelyn and said, “There, I’m done. Can I go now?”
Evelyn didn’t want to let Thomas go, but she couldn’t stop him and could only nod her head. Thomas got up and walked out. When he reached the door, he turned his head and said, “Ms. Gurney, don’t try to do something unrealistic. You can’t change anything. You’d better stop for your own good.”
Evelyn watched Thomas leave with hate in her eyes. She did not believe a word Thomas said.
All of what Thomas said was complete bullshit!
What ability did Valeria have to make William so loyal? She was only human, and how was it possible for her to not be jealous?
All this was just a trick. There were so many bitches out there, and Thomas had never seen how women played their tricks. That was why he was blinded by Valeria’s good side.
In Wolf Group, Michael quickly pushed open the door of William’s office with his briefcase.
“William, everything is done! My legs are not working anymore because of you!”
William looked up at Michael and said with a faint smile, “Isn’t this your job though?”
“Do you even have a heart?” Michael complained and opened his briefcase, handing the document to William.
William took a glance and tossed it aside. “Coffee or tea?”
“Wait, you should at least take a look, right?”
“I can rest assured if you’re the one who does the job.”
“Aren’t you afraid that I’ll trick you?”
“Nah.”
“You trust me that much?” Michael was touched. The next second, William said slowly, “If you dare to trick me, I will show you just how powerful I am.”
Michael’s face fell and he sat down angrily. “You’re not human! You didn’t even say something nice, man! I’ve really went out of my way to help you!”
The secretary came in with coffee. William got up and sat beside Michael. “You didn’t work for me for nothing. At least I treated you coffee, yeah? Not everyone gets to drink my coffee.”
Michael was about to drink but he put it down. William smiled and said, “What?”
“Next time I come here, I won’t even drink plain water.”
William laughed out loud. “Well, it’s not for nothing. I have some important news to tell you.”
Michael looked at William warily. William sipped on his coffee and asked, “I heard that you were sick and hospitalized?”
“Yeah!”
“Did something strange happen in the hospital that night?” William asked again.
“Nothing. Don’t keep me guessing and just spit it out!”
“I heard that Azalea and your mother went to the hospital that night.”
“Azalea? What was she doing there?” Michael frowned.
“I have no idea. If you don’t know either, then it’ll be a big problem.”
Azalea didn’t give up on him, and Meadow and Azalea were on the same boat, so she must have helped Azalea with something. However, Michael knew nothing about their plan.
This was indeed dangerous and Michael felt that it was necessary to figure it out. He then called Meadow in front of William. “Did Azalea go to the hospital with you on the night I fell ill?”
“No.” Meadow played dumb and denied.
“Really? Mom, I have witnesses and evidences. Are you sure you wanna hide this from me?”
Meadow was flustered and thought about it carefully. Michael probably didn’t know her and Azalea’s tricks, otherwise, he wouldn’t have such an attitude.
She calmed down and said, “Azalea did go to the hospital.”
“Why?” Michael asked sharply.
“Nothing, she… just went to see you. She heard that you were sick and was worried.”
Michael did not believe that Azalea just went to the hospital to have a look at him. She must have done something again this time.
Michael recalled carefully. When he woke up, he didn’t find anything wrong except for sensing the perfume on him.
He was unconscious that night and it was impossible for Azalea to do anything to him. At most, she would just touch him a few times while he was blacked out.
Thinking that Azalea might have touched him after he fell asleep, Michael was disgusted.
He then asked, “When did she leave?”
“I don’t remember. She only stayed in the ward for a while and then left.”
“You’d better not lie to me, or else…”
Michael wanted to be ruthless, but he realized that he couldn’t do anything to Meadow either way, so he hung up the phone angrily.
