Veronica felt strange about it, so she immediately asked, “What happened later? How did it go after she was pregnant?”
The corners of Paisley’s lips curled into a sneer. “After she got pregnant, she happily waited for Ornard to marry her. But he never mentioned marriage to her even once because they couldn’t get married. She was engaged to a fiance since she was a child. He was very capable and handsome. Ornard wanted her to marry that fiance so that he could get his help, but that fiance didn’t like her at all. That was because the fiance loved another woman.”
Why was this woman’s story so similar to Veronica’s? She had been tricked by Ornard to sleep around with him after Ornard had taken her virginity. Later on, she was unable to marry him after getting pregnant because she was engaged to Callum. Callum was handsome and capable, so she liked him as well. However, he did not like her. Instead, the person he liked was Emily.
Veronica felt a little uneasy. She kept herself composed and asked, “What happened later?”
“She spent her days in panic after she got pregnant. Ornard couldn’t marry her, while her fiance didn’t want to marry her either. She was stuck in an awkward position. At this moment, something unexpected happened. She had a miscarriage. It turned out that her fiance’s beloved woman was behind it. She lost her child and couldn’t be a mother anymore. Veronica had thought that the woman that Paisley had mentioned bore some resemblance to her. However, her palms went icy cold when she saw the message that Paisley had sent her.
This woman’s story was so similar to hers. Could it be that Paisley was implying her relationship with Ornard? But the relationship between the two of them was supposed to be a secret. No one knew about it except Veronica and Ornard themselves.
Veronica’s mind was in a mess, so she tried her best to keep her emotions in check. “Isn’t this bad for her? So did Ornard abandon her later?”
“No, he didn’t abandon her. He continued to sweet-talk her into doing things for him. After she lost her child and the ability to bear children, her fiance and his family accepted her because of guilt. She was married to her fiance soon after. Ornard kept asking her to help him out, and she was happy to do so. However, something happened later and she found out that Ornard had been scheming against her. Her miscarriage and the loss of her child were not caused by her fiance’s beloved woman. The culprit was actually Ornard. He was afraid that their relationship would be exposed, so he orchestrated the events that led to her miscarriage. What’s more terrible is that in order to ensure her loyalty, he bribed a doctor to remove her Fallopian tubes and uterus. He told the public that her organs were seriously injured and couldn’t be kept inside the body.”
Veronica’s eyes widened as she stared at the message sent by Paisley. Her mind was now buzzing with the shocking information.
If what Paisley had said earlier was similar to her life story, the following storyline was exactly the same as hers.
Veronica’s hands were trembling, so were her lips. No, Ornard would not be so cruel toward her. Her miscarriage was caused by Emily, so it had definitely nothing to do with Ornard.
She suffered a miscarriage because she fell from a horse. That was why her uterus was damaged. Ornard wasn’t the one who had schemed against her. He wasn’t so malicious and shameless! He would never treat her like this!
Veronica tried her best to convince herself that Ornard wasn’t that despicable, but was there really a woman who suffered through the same thing she had in this world?

She pondered about it carefully. She knew for a fact that Ornard didn’t have such a boyfriend. So why would Paisley tell her about this matter?
Did Paisley know that she was the one who was texting her? Was that why the former was trying to drive a wedge between her and Ornard? Was this to annoy her even further?
Paisley was not God, so how could she know that she was texting Veronica? Unless… she knew the relationship between Veronica and Ornard, didn’t she? Was she implying that every suffering Veronica had gone through was Ornard’s doing?
“No, I can’t let my imagination run wild.” Veronica calmed herself down. This was not something that could be solved by senseless imagination alone. She had to look into it and go to the hospital that managed her miscarriage to find the doctor who had operated on her back then. Then only she could figure out all of this.
After Paisley sent the message that implied Ornard’s doing, she did not think that Veronica would take the bait immediately.
After all, she didn’t know if the other party was really Veronica. She was just taking a guess.
If the other party was truly Veronica, it was likely that she wouldn’t believe her words completely. Veronica would definitely investigate and verify the truth.
After she verified the truth and confirmed that she was indeed being manipulated by Ornard, she would make her move. What Paisley needed to do now was to wait patiently for Veronica to take the initiative to contact her.
Meanwhile, in the Floyd family, Azalea was disciplined by the teacher who was hired to teach her the rules again. Three days after that, Meadow came bearing precious gifts in the early morning.
Deborah was puzzled when she heard that Meadow was here. The Floyd family and the Davis family were not close to each other at all. Why would Meadow visit them now?

“I’m happy to hear that. Truth to be told, I came here for a favor. I hope you can agree to my request.”
“How would I know if I could agree to your request if you didn’t even tell me about it?” Deborah complained to herself. “Mrs. Davis, you’re too nice.”
“I know that you’re a straightforward person. I like being frank too, so I will go straight to the point. I’m here for Azalea.”
“Huh?” Deborah looked perplexed.
“Azalea has always been fond of me. Not only do I like her, but all of my family like her as well. See, I’m thinking of going on a vacation for a while. No one is accompanying me, so I hope Azalea could go with me. Mrs. Floyd, can you agree to my request?”
“Well… Let’s ask Azalea first. After all, I can’t make the decision for her. She has to make her own decision. Let’s get her downstairs and ask for her opinion!”
“Mrs. Floyd, don’t! Azalea has a nice personality and a good temper. She will never agree to go with me without your permission. I’ve called her beforehand and she said that she will only go with your permission.”
“Is that so?” Deborah frowned slightly. “Mrs. Davis, you seem to be on good terms with Azalea, don’t you?”
