Meanwhile, Deborah and Azalea were having lunch at the dining table in the Floyd family. Unlike yesterday, the atmosphere today was very dull.
Deborah kept a straight face and said nothing while Azalea tried to talk to her. “Grandma, I…”
“Miss Clark, don’t talk when you’re eating!”
Azalea’s face flushed red because Deborah had said this deliberately. Why was it fine for her to chat with Azalea during their meal yesterday?
This was all because Oscar, that damned bastard, hated her. Since Azalea knew that Deborah hated her, she had no choice but to suppress her anger and eat.
Deborah didn’t care what Azalea was thinking. She had been looking forward to seeing Azalea before, but now she was just disappointed. Her stomach would lurch in disgust each time she recalled Azalea and Oscar’s sickly sweet interactions.
Deborah then pushed her cutleries aside and got up to leave the dining room. Azalea felt as if she had been slapped in the face in public when she saw Deborah leaving. The servants were all serving her, so what would they think of her now? Azalea’s face was covered with a furious blush while she lowered her head and ate her food in humiliation.
She reminded herself that she had to endure all of this to succeed in the future! After she recited it a few times in her mind, her blush gradually faded away and she began to think about what she would do next.
She came to the Floyd family to enjoy herself, not to be neglected like this. She had to find a way to reverse the situation.
Azalea thought for a while after she ate and took the initiative to knock on Deborah’s door. She apologized as soon as she entered the door. “Grandma, I’m here to apologize! It was my fault and I know I was wrong. I will reflect on my mistakes.”
Deborah looked at Azalea with a complicated expression, so Azalea knew that she had to show her sincerity. She knelt down in front of Deborah while she cried, “Grandma, I know that I was wrong, so please believe me. I’ll definitely change for the better!”
Deborah was a soft-hearted person and she pitied Azalea, who was sobbing uncontrollably. Azalea shouldn’t have been like this when she was born and she must’ve been influenced by Madelyn’s bad habits since she was a child.
Deborah wanted to forgive Azalea immediately, but she steeled her resolve when she thought of the photos that Fandrey had shown her. She couldn’t be soft-hearted right now because she had to slowly change Azalea for the better.
She sighed and said, “Well, I’ll give you a chance since you realize your mistakes! Don’t be an actress anymore from now on and stop all your activities in the entertainment industry. Just stay at home obediently.”
Wouldn’t she be bored to death if she stayed at home? Azalea was unwilling to be cooped up at home, but she still nodded rapidly because she had to promise Deborah. “I promise that I’ll stay at home obediently and I won’t go anywhere.”
“That’s not enough! I’ll ask someone to teach you some ethics to be a proper lady. You need to learn how to control your temperament, cook, draw, how to treat people, and other things as well. As the daughter of the Floyd family, it’s alright if you’re not proficient in all kinds of things, but you have to at least know how to cook and present yourself. You mustn’t embarrass us.”
Azalea was very angry when she knelt on the ground because she had never seen Abbie and Valeria learn these things. Even Angel, who was so cruel and vicious, had never learned them before. Why were they targeting her?
Did she deserve this treatment? Although she was angry, she promised, “Grandma, I will listen to you and thank you for giving me a chance. You can look at how well I’ll perform from today onwards and I will definitely correct my mistakes!”
Deborah didn’t continue her lecture when she saw how well-behaved Azalea was. “Alright, get up and wash up.”
Evelyn sat in a corner of the restaurant while she stared at the private room. Did William think that she would give up if he didn’t allow her to eat with him? She was waiting for him to come out.
Evelyn waited outside for more than three hours, but she didn’t see William come out. It was impossible for someone to have such a long meal, so what were William and the foreigners doing in the private room?
Evelyn waited anxiously and called the waiter to ask about the situation. The waiter then told her politely that there was no one in the room.
Evelyn didn’t believe the waiter’s words because she had been staring at the door all this while. How could William and the foreigners disappear into thin air?
Evelyn went to check the room personally and found that it was indeed empty when she pushed the door open.
She was furious. “Where are they and when did they leave? Why didn’t I see them?”
The waiter had a polite smile on his face when he saw how exasperated Evelyn was. “Sorry, I can’t answer your question. After all, I don’t have the responsibility or the rights to keep track of the whereabouts of our guests.”
Since Evelyn couldn’t find any fault in the waiter’s words, she left angrily and her mood was extremely bad.
She was sure that she had been keeping an eye on what was happening in the private room, so why hadn’t she seen William and the foreigner leave?
When did they leave and did something fishy happen in the room?
Meanwhile, William was smiling at the foreigner opposite him in the reception room of Wolf Group. Marcus was handing him a modified document to sign.
The foreigner held a document and complained, “William, you’re too sly and you’re playing tricks on me again. Tell me! Did you invite that woman to play along with your schemes just to bet with me?”
“No, why would I do such a thing?” William waved his hand with a smile. “Weren’t you the one who made the bet?”
The bet was indeed proposed by the foreigner, so he had no way to refute it. He said resentfully, “But I didn’t know there was another door in that room. You lied to me.”
William smiled lightly. “You should accept your loss if you were willing to take a bet.”
“Alright, I’ll admit defeat, but I won’t let this go! Just wait, I’ll get back at you!”
The foreigner swiftly signed and handed the contract to Marcus. William smiled and stretched out his hand. “I hope our cooperation goes well, Mr. Lincoln”
“Same to you!” Lincoln reached out and shook hands with William. “Although I was cheated by you, I know that we’ll definitely make a huge profit together!”
He did not stay for long after signing the contract. William then personally sent Lincoln off before he returned to the office with Marcus.
Marcus didn’t know about the bet. “Mr. Howard, Lincoln has always lost to you, but he doesn’t learn from it at all. He said he would like to cooperate with you, but I’m sure he’s filled with resentment towards you.”
“He has always wanted to win against me at least once. If he keeps losing, he’ll definitely bet with me the next time we meet.”
“I believe that, but I don’t know when will be the next time because he’s going back tomorrow.”
“Are you sad? Is it because you’re afraid that your workload will decrease?” William raised his eyebrows.
Marcus rubbed his head. “I have some work to do! Bye!”
