Chapter 1267 Go To Ruins

Michael sighed. “It’s hopeless. I was in the company for so long today, and I realized it’s unlikely that it can be saved. I’m going to let my grandfather accept the reality!”
William didn’t pay much attention to the Davis family’s affairs and was surprised to hear that. “Even if your family were to get poorer, I’m sure you will still be richer than commoners. I don’t believe that your family will go into ruins like this.”
“Even if I don’t believe it, I have to. I have accepted reality.” Michael had been reading the financial statements and documents for such a long time that he had accepted the current situation.
“Is there no possibility of salvaging the company?” William asked.
“It’s not a high chance. We need a lot of money to fill our deficits, and I don’t have the confidence to bring the company back on track. My principle is to not fight a losing battle. So I could only let it be.”
“Michael, if you are able bring it back on track, I can support you.”
“Thank you, William! I appreciate your kindness. This is the Davis family’s affair, and it’s also the Davis family’s fate. Let nature take its course.”
Michael refused William’s kindness. He and William were close friends, so he knew that William would help him if he asked him to.
However, he owed William too much. If it was his personal matter, he could ask William for help. But now, it was the Davis family’s affair, not his. William had no obligation to save the Davis family for him. It would be unfair to William.
William didn’t force him. After a few more words with Michael, he hung up the phone.
It seemed like such a coincidence that the Davis family was in trouble. Marcus came in, and William gestured for him to sit. “Did you hear about what’s happening with the Davis family?”
“I’ve heard about it. It’s said that the two elder sons of the Davis family colluded in putting the family in jeopardy. Now the Davis family is about to go to ruins, and Mr. Davis fell ill because of this and is in a grave condition.”
“I think it’s normal for the Davis family’s two elder sons to plot against Stanty, but it’s pretty inconceivable that they would be able to deceive Wayne as well. Is he that incompetent?”
“Perhaps he trusts his two grandsons too much?” Marcus asked.
“I think something is unusual here, but I can’t figure out the reason.”
Hearing William’s words, Marcus smiled. “Do you need me to arrange for someone to investigate this?”
“You don’t have to investigate it deliberately. Just pay attention to any new developments.” After he said that, Valeria called. “Honey, are you ready? Grandma called to check on us.”
“I’ll come and pick you up right away!” William said as he got up and walked out. As he walked, he asked Marcus, “Have you found the person I asked you to find?”
“I’ve found him. He has been waiting there according to your instructions. You only need to wait for the fun to begin!”
“Tell him not to worry about me. The more horrible he is the better!”
Marcus smiled cunningly. “Don’t worry! He won’t let you down!”
After Azalea had woken up from her nap, she was told the welcoming dinner was put off. Both Callum and Fandrey were busy and couldn’t come home.
After hearing what Deborah said, Azalea grumbled to herself. What was so important that Fandrey and Callum were busy the entire day? Since they weren’t employees of the company, couldn’t they postpone the work till tomorrow? Could it be that Fandrey and Callum didn’t like her, so they tried to avoid her?
She tried her best to mask her emotions, but her eyes were inevitably filled with disappointment.
Deborah caught it and immediately explained, “Your grandfather and father are real busy. I will get them to make up to you with another dinner in the future. Tonight, I’ll bring you to meet William and Valeria.”
Azalea had been feeling pretty disappointed. But when she heard that she was going to see Valeria and William in the evening, she became happy again.
She was the daughter of the Floyd family who had just returned to the family. William and Valeria surely wouldn’t come to meet her empty-handed. Since they were so rich, Azalea was sure that she could reap some benefits at the dinner.
She wondered what Valeria and William would give her. Would it be jewelry or a limited edition bag?
Azalea remembered that Valeria had given Abbie several bags worth millions of dollars and a set of jewelry. Since she was William’s cousin, Valeria would surely give her something that was at least as valuable as what she gave Abbie.
Not only could Azalea receive expensive gifts, but she could also make Valeria act polite towards her. It would be such a wonderful scene, and Azalea was excited when she thought about it. “Grandma, I’ll put on my makeup and then change my clothes.”
“You don’t have to go through so much trouble when we’re only meeting family. Wear whatever you want since Valeria and William know you from before.” Deborah instructed her.
Even though Deborah had said so, Azalea still picked out the best clothes for herself and put on a heavy makeup.
Azalea and Deborah then set off for the restaurant arranged by Deborah. When they arrived at the restaurant, Deborah called Valeria to check on their whereabouts, to which Valeria replied saying, they would arrive in about ten minutes. Deborah then brought Azalea to their private room delightfully.
The menu had been set earlier on. But most of the dishes were not to Azalea’s taste. Azalea guessed that the dishes should be arranged according to Valeria and William’s tastes, and she was unhappy about it.
She was the eldest daughter of the Floyd family. Why did Deborah care so much about Valeria and William?
But she didn’t dare to voice her displeasure. Right now, Azalea was looking forward to seeing Valeria and William.
Shouldn’t Valeria be pretty uncomfortable meeting her as family when Valeria used to look down on her as a lowly actress?
Even if Valeria was uncomfortable, she had to lower her pride and exchange pleasantries with her. Otherwise, Deborah would be unhappy. This might be the first time Valeria was humiliated like this, right?
Azalea thought that since she couldn’t take revenge on Valeria openly, she could still get Valeria to suffer silently.
Azalea thought to herself and took the initiative to tell Deborah, “Grandma, Valeria didn’t get along well with me before. You should know that Valeria is pretty close with Abbie, and Abbie often gossips about me in front of her. I’m worried that Valeria won’t like me.”
“Don’t worry!” Deborah comforted Azalea. “Valeria and William are not petty people, and they get along with others well. They were prejudiced against you before because they didn’t know your real identity. So they were swayed by Abbie. It is through confrontation that you will get to know others well. Later on, when they come in, take the initiative to welcome them cheerfully. People always like merriment. They won’t be unkind to you.”
“I know. Don’t worry, grandma. I will greet them politely!”
“That’s right. You are a nice child. Don’t treat Valeria the way that menace Angel treats her. You and William are the only descendants of the Floyd family, and William is such a capable man. As long as you get along well with Valeria, they will treat you as their sister. I will be at ease knowing that William will be looking out for you.”
Azalea continued to nod obediently. “I’ll listen to you!”
Seeing that she was so docile, Deborah was relieved. Even if Valeria did not like Azalea, as long as Azalea was willing to give in, Valeria would accept Azalea for her sake.
As Deborah thought to herself, the door was pushed open and a fat old man walked in.
Deborah thought that William and Valeria had arrived. So she was stunned when she saw a stranger. The next second, the old man called Azalea affectionately, “Sweetheart, I missed you so much!”
