Donald was surprised upon seeing Michael and William. William greeted, “Mr. Clark, hello!”
“Hey! Did you guys meet with Richard to discuss something?” Donald asked with a gentle look on his face.
“Yes.”
“Michael, what happened to your face? Who did you get into a fight with?” Donald had noticed the wound on Michael’s face.
“He did not get into an argument with anyone. He injured himself as he was dead drunk,” William answered calmly.
“Drinking is not a good thing. Do try to consume less alcohol in the future.”
Michael nodded while William replied with a smile, “Michael and I shall be making a move now. We shall invite you to have a meal together next time.”
“That sounds good. You guys do take care!”
Donald eventually turned around and headed towards Richard’s office after seeing William and Michael entering the elevator.
Richard instructed his secretary to prepare tea upon seeing the presence of Donald. “Dad, are you here to discuss something with me?”
“Yes, I have something important to tell you and it is about your marriage.”
“My marriage? What are you talking about?”
“Here’s the thing. Your mother had bumped into Deborah when she was shopping during the day. The two of them then decided to have dinner together. Deborah had mentioned you during mealtime and would like you to try things out with Angel.”
“Did Helen agree on this matter?” Richard’s face immediately became sulky.
“It would be impolite to oppose that idea given the said situation, wouldn’t it? Deborah is a well-respected person after all. It would be inappropriate for Helen to refuse the said request when Deborah had brought it up first, right?”
“Haha! What is your point? Are you guys hoping me to take Angel’s hand in marriage?”
“I am just saying that you can get to know Angel as starters. The two of you can couple up if you both are on the same page. You guys are also free to call it off if there is no spark between the two of you. We should take the feelings of Deborah into account given the current circumstances, right?”
“I am not fond of Angel. You guys should solve the trouble that you have caused yourselves!”
“Are there any negative points of Angel that I am unaware of? She has once met with your mother and they even exchanged gifts with each other. Helen said that she is very kind and polite. She even told me that Angel has the graceful aura of being raised in a wealthy family. Besides, you are friends with William. Wouldn’t you be much closer with him if you pair up with Angel?”
“Dad, I shall make myself very clear that I despise Angel very much. I feel nauseous at her presence. Do you think that it is possible for me to have any interaction with such a person?”
Donald felt troubled upon noticing the distressed expression on Richard’s face as he initially thought that there was hope. He did not expect that Richard would dislike the granddaughter of the Floyd family that much.
“What should we do then? Your mother has already promised Deborah about this matter. Deborah has even set a time for letting the both of you meet with each other. Isn’t it disrespectful for us in contacting the Floyd family to call this off? You should at least meet with Angel to make things less awkward, shouldn’t you?”
“Helen and you are truthfully troublemakers! You guys are making things hard for me every day!” Richard was utterly displeased.
“Don’t you think that there is no right for you to point fingers at us? William, who has grown up with you since young is already married and has two sons. You, on the other hand, have always been single all this while. Your mother and I are hoping you in getting married and then only focus on your career. We are not at the wrong, aren’t we?”
“Alright, let’s not talk about these useless kinds of stuff. I’ll discuss it with William first.”
Deborah and Angel had arrived home. Fandrey had also just come back from the company.
Deborah excitedly told him about the meetup session with Helen just now.
Fandrey asked with a surprised face, “Helen did not oppose this idea?”
“How could Helen refuse such a request when Angel is an obedient and kind-hearted person?”
“Stop making a fool of yourself! Helen’s support regarding this matter is not a sure way that Richard is on the same page with you guys. Richard is the one who would be living with his future partner after all. He does not seem to be a person who would listen to the advice of senior members.”
“You are an old fart who would always attempt to ruin the fun. I have already made an appointment with Helen regarding our next meetup session and she did not reject it either. We will see how it goes when we hang out next time.”
“Alright, do have fun then. You need not put your hopes too high to avoid a possible major disappointment in the future,” Fandrey shook his head and went to the study room.
Richard was pissed off and immediately contacted William after Donald had left his office. “William, your grandmother had brought along that fake-ass bitch to meet with my mother just now.”
“What about it?” William asked with a smile.
“You are asking the obivious, aren’t you?”
“How could I possibly know the entire story when I am not a fortune-teller? How about you just spill the beans to me right now?”
“You must be playing dumb! You are f*cking good in playing out an act and you must be wanting to make fun of me, right? Fine, I shall let your dream come true then! That bitch had pretended to be gentle and kind. Deborah then proposed the idea of letting Angel couple up with me. Helen had accepted the suggestion as she felt that it would be impolite to oppose it. What on earth is this ridiculous thing? William, I would f*king make a phone call to that piece of shit and let her have a close look at the mirror. I would have asked her to see how disgusting she looks if it wasn’t for you!”
“Why are you yelling at me then? I am not the one who intended you to be a pair with that bitch, right? You can do whatever you please to her and you need not worry about me!”
“F*ck! Aren’t you being too cold-hearted towards me? William, you must settle this mess for me! I will make a fuss about it if you decide to not take me seriously.”
Richard hung up the phone angrily. William shook his head and said, “What on earth did I do for me to be treated in such a manner?”
Marcus, who was beside him had chuckled. “Why don’t you contact Fandrey and tell him about this matter?”
“I did tell him before, right? I have no idea what Fandrey is thinking of not telling Deborah about the entire situation. He turned a blind eye towards this matter and let Deborah do whatever she pleased.”
“Deborah is an innocent person and she treats Angel as her biological granddaughter. She also happens to know that Richard is a multitalented person. It is reasonable for her to select a good future partner for Angel. I think you should have told them sooner that Angel is not the granddaughter of the Floyd family.”
“You do have a solid point! I am already planning things in my mind regarding this matter. I would tell Valeria in taking Braelynn out in treating my grandparents to dinner tonight. It would be best for the genuine grandchild to have interaction with the senior members of the Floyd family as starters.”
“This is a good idea. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd would definitely adore Braelynn judging by her smart and considerate personality.”
“It is hard to say for now and we shall go with the flow. I have another thing that I would like you to do for now.”
William sneered and said, “Ornard and Paisley had colluded with each other and obtained the bidding contract. How naive of them to think that no one knows what they have done. It is now the time to make this matter go public. We shall let Angel be the one who uncovers it first.”
“Mr. Howard, I will get it done right away.”
“Do instruct Pierre to liaise with Angel by telling her the cause of her failure in winning the bidding contract. I am looking forward to the scene of Angel seeking revenge on Paisley.”
Valeria finally woke up in the afternoon and soon filled up her tummy with food. She did not forget the serious business that William had instructed her to do.
She swiftly gave Deborah a call, “Grandma, I am back in the country. Do you happen to be free tonight? I would like to treat you and Fandrey to dinner tonight.”
“Of course! I am absolutely free! Just tell me the location and I would be there on time alongside Fandrey,” Deborah happily accepted the dinner proposal.
Valeria chatted with Deborah for a while before hanging up the phone call. She then contacted Braelynn, “William and I would be treating a round of dinner tonight. You shall tag along to interact with the guests!”
Braelynn smiled and accepted, “Okay, do tell me the venue beforehand. I will be there punctually tonight.”
“I will tell William to give you a lift. You just have to dress well that’s all.”
Valeria finally let out a sigh of relief after informing Braelynn about the appointment, “Why am I feeling so nervous when I am not even in the spotlight? I hope that everything goes well tonight. It would be best that Fandrey and Deborah would have a good impression of Braelynn. I genuinely hope that they would be fond of Braelynn! They should click well since the three of them are connected by blood, right?”
Hayden appeared out of nowhere when Valeria was muttering to herself. “What did you just say?”
