Chapter 1139 Unreserved Behaviour

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Valeria contacted Michael without hesitation and the phone was swiftly being answered, “Valeria, did Abbie tell you to give me a call?”
“Yes, you are right. Give me a second as Abbie would like to have a word with you.”
Valeria handed the phone to her. Abbie sniffled and asked, “How are you holding up?”
“I’m doing well and fine. Abbie, how about you? Your brother did not give you a hard time, did he?”
“Nope, but my mobile phone was being taken away by him. He gave me a new mobile phone and this device is connected to his. He will know everything that I do with that new digital device. Richard will never agree with us being a couple!”
“I am well aware of it. Rest assured and just leave things to me. I’ll get ahold of him to sort things out tomorrow.”
“You don’t have to meet him during this period of time as he is still fuming with anger. He will definitely go rough on you upon your presence.”
“It’s okay as I’m willing to be beaten just for the sake of you. Just wait for me patiently and I will persuade him to come to terms with us dating each other.”
Abbie was much more relieved after talking to Michael over the phone. The issue between them must be resolved and Michael was very firm in getting ahold of Richard. Conflicts would be inevitable and it was highly unlikely for Michael to get in a fight with Richard.
Micahel would then be on the passive team which meant that he would suffer a beating. Abbie did not have the heart in seeing him suffer and said, “Valeria, please have a talk with William later. I would like to request him in persuading my brother tomorrow about this matter. I reckon that Richard would not go rough on Michael with the presence of your husband.”
“Don’t worry, I will definitely bring this topic up with William later!”
The both of them continued chatting for a while. Richard pushed the door open and came in. “Why are you hiding here?”
“It is normal for Abbie and me to have a private chat as we have not seen each other for a long time,” Valeria calmly answered.
“We shall call it a day and let Valeria have a rest for now. Let us head back home.” Richard reached out to help Abbie up after he had finished speaking.
Abbie placed her support on his arm and the two of them soon left the bedroom. Valeria let out a sigh after seeing the Clark siblings being driven away by the driver.
The people who had welcomed the Howard couple at the airport were soon being sent away by the bodyguards and drivers one after the other. William then reached out and took Valeria’s hand. “Let’s head back in!”
“How much wine did you consume? What is with the heavy scent of alcohol on you?” Valeria asked as she was able to sniff the reeking smell of alcohol on William.
“I did not have much. Everyone has made a toast to me that’s all.”
“And you don’t think that it is a lot? Have you been craving alcohol as you have not consumed it for a period of time?”
“What are you talking about? I would only have an appetite for my wife. What is so great about alcohol?”
William smiled and brought Valeria back to the house. The couple then returned to their bedroom which was located upstairs. William went to the bathroom to adjust the water temperature. He noticed the worried look on Valeria’s face upon coming out from the bathroom. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Richard is well aware of the secret relationship regarding Abbie and Michael.”
“I have already guessed it long ago. Let us take a shower and call it a day. We shall talk about it tomorrow.”
“Honey, will you lend them a helping hand?”
“Of course!”
Valeria felt reassured upon hearing his reply. She then got up and headed towards the bathroom to take a shower.
It was the next morning. The Floyd family had received news about the arrival of William and Valeria in the country.
Deborah was very surprised about it and said, “Why would they return ahead of schedule? I don’t think this is their initial arrival time, right?”
“They might have some business to deal with!” Fandrey calmly replied while taking a peek at Angel, who was sitting at the dining table.
“It is nice to hear Valeria coming back from overseas as I am so bored these days. I can finally hang out with her as she has arrived at the country.”
“You ought to scrap this idea off. She must be experiencing jetlag as she just came back from abroad. Besides, how could she have the energy in having fun with you when she is currently pregnant?”
“I am not intending to get ahold of her right now anyway. I am just planning ahead that’s all.”
Angel occupied herself by eating a bowl of porridge as she listened to the conversation between Fandrey and Deborah. She was currently feeling pissed off and the root of it was her telling Deborah about how fond she was feeling towards Richard last night. Angel was expecting her grandmother to tell Fandrey about this matter in hopes to come up with a solution for her sake. However, Fandrey and Deborah did not mention a word about this matter. This was indeed infuriating.
Fandrey went to the company after having breakfast. Angel sat down on the sofa in the living room after sending him off with a sulky look on her face. Deborah noticed the moody look on her face and sat down beside her. “Why do you seem to be dejected?”
“Grandma, why are you asking the obvious?” Angel continued speaking with an upset tone, “You do not take my issue seriously at all. You are just so focused on your plan to hang out with Valeria. Do you even treat me as your biological granddaughter?”
“You are feeling mad because of this matter? You are indeed one of a kind. Do you think that I merely want to have a good time with Valeria? I am actually very concerned about your matter. Valeria must be very friendly with Helen as she is very close with Abbie, right? I plan to tell Valeria in inviting Helen to tag along for me to gauge the situation on your behalf. It is always good to test the waters of the Clark family regarding this matter, isn’t it?”
Angel was feeling slightly better upon hearing her reply but she then recalled that she did not see eye to eye with Valeria. She felt that it was a wrong move for Deborah in putting her hopes on the assistance of Valeria in this matter.
“Grandma, you do not have to use Valeria as a middleman to get in touch with Helen. How is it possible for Valeria to help me out when she is not fond of me? You should get ahold of Helen in a straightforward manner if you are really on my team.”
“I do not know Helen well and it is very impolite for me to contact her out of the blue,” Deborah disagreed.
“There is no need for that as Azalea can assist us in meeting with her. After all, Azalea is the adopted daughter of the Clark family. She could invite Helen to hang out with her. We shall also head out and the four of us can have a meetup session together by an intentional coincidence.”
Deborah frowned upon seeing the excited look on her face. Why was Angel in such a hurry and was very unreserved about it?
“You can’t meet with others when you have a wound on your forehead, right?”
“It is fine as I can always cover it with makeup. There is really no big deal as this is just a minor injury.” Angel swiftly grabbed Deborah’s arm and shook it as she was afraid that Deborah would not agree to this idea. “Grandma, can you please help me out with this matter? I am begging you!”
Deborah had no choice but to agree as Angel kept pestering her, “Okay then. However, I should now make things very clear. We shall pretend that nothing has happened if Helen does not intend to matchmake Richard and you.”
Angel happily went upstairs to doll herself up. She also sent a message to Azalea, “I would be going out shopping with my grandma later. You need not forget to invite Helen out as well.”
Azalea’s car had just come to a halt at the entrance of the Clark family’s villa. She saw Angel’s message and swiftly reverted back, “This is such a coincidence. I am also about to ask Helen out shopping. I am currently at the entrance of her house. Where should we meet then?”
“Let us meet at the shopping mall in the city center. I am planning to take my grandmother for coffee on the top floor. Do remember to bring Helen there then.”
“Okay, see you soon!”
Azalea put away her phone and got out of the car while grinning. She rang the doorbell and the door was soon being opened by the servant. “Abbie, welcome! Helen is waiting for you.”
Azalea followed the servant into the living room with a delighted look on her face. Helen welcomed her with a warm smile, “Azalea, you are finally here! You should have a cup of tea before we make a move.”
“Sure!” Azalea sat down and said, “Helen, you look gorgeous today!”
“You are trying to make me feel good about myself once again,” Helen pursed her lips and grinned.
“I’m telling the truth. Helen, you are absolutely stunning and elegant today. This dress looks really good on you.”
All human beings were a fan of praises. Helen chuckled and said, “You are the only one who would give me such a great comment. It is impossible for Abbie to praise me like this.”
“How is Abbie currently doing? Why haven’t I got the chance to meet with her nowadays?”
“She must be busy with unnecessary matters. Besides, she is not interested in accompanying me anyway.” The servant brought over a cup of tea in the midst of their conversation. Azalea received the cup and took a sip of it. “Helen, have you seen the news yesterday?”
“What news?” Helen asked.
“The one about Ms. Floyd falling down to the ground. Aren’t you aware of it?”
