Chapter 1136 Taken Things The Wrong Way

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Meadow swiftly contacted Azalea and said, “Azalea, something has popped on my mind all of a sudden. Are Braelynn and Richard currently seeing each other?”
“What? I don’t think so. Who told you that?”
“I just suddenly remembered something that relates to them. Angel would not have sneakily eavesdropped on Richard and Braelynn if they were only having an ordinary business appointment. I suspect that something fishy is going on between the two of them.”
Azalea had also recalled something upon hearing about it and said, “Oh, I have now seemed to remember the details when you have brought this topic up. I have recently seen Richard and Braelynn being together several times. Braelynn is a gorgeous lady and there is a very high possibility for her to be dating Richard. It would be increasingly impossible for me to seek revenge should they indeed become a couple.”
Azalea spoke in a dejected tone which was what Meadow had expected to achieve her objective. “How can you be so sure about it? I have a perfect plan to break Braelynn and Richard up if it is true that they are currently dating each other.”
“What is it?”
“Didn’t you say that Angel happens to be attracted towards Richard? You need to utilize your close relationship with Helen and tell her that Angel is a kind-hearted lady. Angel is very fond of Richard and the Floyd family happens to adore him very much as well. It is logical for Helen in knowing the family background of her future daughter-in-law. It is impossible for her to be calm about this matter as the Floyd family is a wealthy and influential family. The perfect timing will soon occur to matchmake Richard and Angel in becoming a couple. Let us sit back and enjoy the show about Braelynn coming up with ideas to be with Richard.”
Meadow was indeed a cunning person. She knew that Angel was not the daughter of the Floyd family. Hence, she had intentionally planned this out for Helen in requesting the Floyd family to make Angel her future daughter-in-law. A piece of breaking news would soon emerge when Richard and Angel officially become a married couple. A statement would be published about Angel not being the daughter of the Floyd family but was instead Madelyn’s daughter. Richard and the Clark family would then be feeling utterly miserable during that time.
Azalea was not aware of Meadow’s ulterior motives. She just assumed that Meadow had a feasible idea and said, “Meadow, you are indeed brilliant in coming up with achievable plans. I will squeeze out my time tomorrow to meet with Mrs. Clark then.”
Braelynn had switched off her phone as she had a meeting in the afternoon. The discussion had been ongoing and eventually ended at eight in the evening. She switched on her phone upon returning to the office and realized that Richard had contacted her.
Braelynn returned back the call and asked, “Why did you contact me?”
Richard replied in a sulky tone, “I wanted to treat you to a meal just now but Abbie is currently injured. I suggest rescheduling our appointment to tomorrow instead.”
Braelynn cried in surprise and questioned, “Abbie is hurt? How did she get wounded?”
“I had pushed her!” Richard replied.
“Richard, what is wrong with you? How can you go rough on Abbie when she is your sister?”
“I did not do it on purpose…”
“She was injured when you had accidentally pushed her. Don’t you think that it would be much worse if you have intentionally done it? Where are you both currently at? I’ll be right there.”
“You can get ahold of us at her apartment.”
Braelynn hung up the phone and took her car keys alongside her bag before leaving the office. She assumed that the Clark siblings may have not consumed dinner yet during her drive towards Abbie’s apartment. She then headed to a nearby restaurant to order takeaway.
Braelynn eventually arrived at the apartment after an hour later. Richard opened the door and reached out to take the dinner from Braelynn before saying, “Thank you!”
Braelynn glared at him and asked, “Where is Abbie?”
“She is laying on the bed in her room.” Richard then stretched his hand out and grabbed Braelynn before speaking further, “Well… She is now in a bad mood as I have given Micahel a beating just now. Please persuade her by explaining that I’m doing this for her own good. Michael is an a*shole and is not compatible with her.”
“Do you think I will put in a few good words on your behalf? You are dreaming, aren’t you? Michael is much better than you!” Braelynn pushed him away and marched towards Abbie’s bedroom.
Abbie was seen to be weakly lying on the bed while staring blankly at the ceiling. Braelynn came in and said hello to her. Abbie turned around and said, “Braelynn, you are here!”
“Are you okay?” Braelynn asked with a concerned look on her face.
“Yes, I am doing fine. I have just sprained my ankle and I have applied the medication on the injured spot. The doctor said that I will recover after a good rest.”
Abbie looked as if nothing had gone wrong. Braelynn was increasingly worried upon noticing the indifferent look on her face and said, “You have not consumed dinner yet, haven’t you? I bought your favorite dinner and you shall fill your tummy for now.”
“I have no appetite!” Abbie shook her head and continued speaking, “You don’t have to worry about me as I am feeling alright. I am truly feeling okay.”
Abbie and Braelynn were very close but they were not friends who could freely share secrets among themselves. Abbie would have endlessly chatted away if Braelynn was currently replaced by Valeria.
Braelynn was out of ideas to comfort her and she said, “Your brother has crossed the line. How can he go rough on you?”
“He did not do it on purpose.” Abbie did not point fingers at her brother and asked, “Braelynn, I would just like to confirm about something. We cannot get through to Valeria’s phone, can we?”
“Let me have a try,” Braelynn tried to contact Valeria but she was unreachable. She then attempted to call William but to no avail as well.
Braelynn was feeling worried as both Valeria and William had switched off their phones. She immediately called Marcus and asked, “Assistant Field, why can’t I seem to get ahold of both William and Valeria?”
Marcus smiled and replied, “Ms. Saunders, I would like to notify you that both Mr. and Mrs. Howard are coming back to the country. Their phones are being switched off as they are currently on the plane. You need not feel worried about it.”
Braelynn was feeling relieved upon listening to Marcus’ words and questioned further, “When is their estimated arrival time? I would like to pick them up.”
“They will be arriving at the country by midnight. You need not make a trip to the airport as I have arranged everything well in advance.”
She then told Abbie about Valeria’s return. Abbie’s eyes lit up upon hearing that Valeria would finally be returning home and said, “Valeria, that mysterious lady, does not even bother to tell me when she has set her mind on returning from overseas. She is indeed an untrustworthy friend.”
“I think Valeria just wants to give you a surprise.”
“What are you talking about? Valeria does not even want me to pick her up from the airport. She decides to put her friendship aside ever since being a married woman. I am really upset at her.”
“How about I give you a lift to the airport in getting ahold of her? You should now have something to recuperate your energy before I take you to the airport.”
Abbie was finally less moody as she was feeling delighted about Valeria’s return. She nodded and said, “Alright then!”
Richard felt reassured upon knowing that Abbie was willing to consume dinner. He was now starving as well and he then took the tablewares out. He was about to dig into the food that Braelynn had brought over just now.
Braelynn gave the dinner portion to Abbie and soon left the room. She then saw Richard setting the table in the dining area. She scoffed jokingly and said, “You are finally feeling hungry, aren’t you?”
“Of course, I have not had anything yet. I may need to starve myself for the entire day if you did not make a trip here.”
“I have not consumed anything as well, okay?”
“Let me help you with the carbs.” Richard wanted to get on her good side by filling up some rice in her bowl. The two of them then sat down at the table and began to enjoy their dinner.
Richard kept peeking at her while consuming the meal. Braelynn was a little annoyed as he kept observing her. She placed her cutleries down and asked, “Why do you keep staring at me?”
“I thought you were mad at me.”
“What? Why would I do that to you?”
“It was because of Angel that had caused a scene at noon… You were so angry that you left without having lunch. I tried calling you but to no avail and I then assumed that you were pissed off at me.”
“Do I look like that kind of a petty person to you?”
“Not at all. I may have taken things the wrong way that’s all!” Richard grinned while trying to enlighten the mood.
“You are the petty one instead. You are indeed a mean person! By the way, was it you who had published the news about Angel causing trouble at noon?”
