Chapter 1128 Failed the Bid

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Angel’s face fell instantly when she saw the Anthony family’s company name appearing on the big screen.
She failed!
Paisley actually succeeded. She was about the same age as Paisley, so the contrast between her failure and Paisley’s success was too clear. Angel knew that everyone would laugh at her for being inferior to Paisley.
How could she not compare to Paisley when she was much stronger than the latter? However, the main problem for her now was how she should face Fandrey and Callum.
Meanwhile, Deborah and Fandrey were sitting on the sofa in the living room in the Floyd family. Callum asked the servants to leave and sat opposite his parents. “Mom and Dad, I have something to say to you.”
Fandrey had already guessed what Callum was going to say. He was expressionless, but Deborah was very surprised. “What do you have to say that you have to ask the servants to leave?”
“I want to talk to you about Angel and Emily. I took her to see Emily last night…”
Deborah was unhappy and directly interrupted Callum when she heard Emily’s name. “Callum, what the hell are you doing? Why did you take Angel to see her?”
“Mom, Angel is still her daughter. How can you bear to let her disregard her mother for the rest of her life?”
“That woman is so vicious… Angel would pick up her bad habits if she keeps in contact with her.” Deborah didn’t have a good impression of Emily.
Callum’s face was cold. “She is not that kind of person!”
“What? Who framed her for what happened that year? How can you defend him even after the truth has been exposed? What on earth are you thinking?”
“That’s enough! I don’t want to talk about the past anymore! I have already married a woman that I don’t love according to your request. What else do you want?” Callum suddenly stood up.
“Life is short and I can’t always follow your arrangements. This time, I have decided that Angel and Emily must recognize each other and you’d better not stop me! It will all be in vain!”
“Dear, look at him!” Deborah was so angry that she wanted to ask Fandry for help, but he was cam. “All right! Calm down, let’s listen to Callum first.”
“Why are you also helping him? I’m so angry!”
When Fandrey saw how Deborah glared at him angrily, he reached out to hold her hand to help her calm down. He looked at Callum and said, “If you want Emily and Angel to recognize each other, I won’t object. I will also convince your mother, but I have to remind you that you have a wife now. Have you ever thought of your wife’s feelings?”
“I’ll deal with Veronica.”
“How do you plan to do that?” Fandrey asked.
“We’re not real husband and wife anyways. I made a deal with Veronica when we got married. I told her that I won’t have a real relationship with her, let alone give her the love that she wants. We’ve agreed that we can divorce at any time after ten years. More than twenty years have passed since then and I have done my duty. What reason does she have to stop me?”
Fandrey and Deborah looked at each other in surprise. “Since the agreement was ten years, why didn’t you file for divorce back then?”
“How can both of you not know?” Callum laughed ironically. How would his parents leave him alone after the divorce? They would definitely find another wife for him, so being with Veronica was the best choice. He didn’t divorce because he needed Veronica to prevent that from happening.
When Fandrey looked at Callum’s sarcastic smile, he grabbed the cup and directly threw it at Callum. The younger man did not dodge it and his clothes were soaked with tea.
“Mom, Dad, Emily refused to forgive me before and I’ve planned to live in guilt for the rest of my life. But now it’s different. Emily promised to recognize Angel. I won’t let my real wife wander around outside, and I won’t let our family be separated. I will divorce Veronica and marry Emily whether you agree or not.” “You… you bastard! If you dare marry Emily, I… I…” Deborah was so angry that she couldn’t even utter a complete sentence and she just pointed at Callum while she trembled.
Fandrey reached out and held Deborah’s hand. “Calm down! It’s not worth getting angry and hurting your body!”
How could Deborah calm down? She trembled as she said, “I… I will never agree! Dear, he is out of his mind! You can’t let him do as he pleases!”
“I’ll handle it. Don’t worry about it!”
Callum had never disobeyed Fandrey and Deborah. He felt bad when he saw his mother like this, but he steeled his resolve when he thought of Emily’s suffering all these years.
He wouldn’t back down this time no matter what!
His phone rang when the company’s assistant called. “Boss, the bid failed!”
Callum always thought that they would surely win the bid, but he had never expected that he would fail.
He was extremely surprised. “Who won in the end?”
“Acma Corporation won the bid this time!”
“What!?” Callum asked in surprise.
Acma Corporation would not have had the ability to win the bid without Hardy. This result was too unexpected.
Callum hung up the phone and looked at Fandrey. “Dad, we failed the bid this time.”
Fandrey had long expected the results, but he also played along and roared angrily in order to express that he was unaware, “How did we fail?”
“I don’t know the specific reason. Dad, I’ll go to the company to check it out and tell you later.”
Angel was wiping her tears in her office when Callum arrived at the company, but he had no time to comfort her and went straight into his office.
His assistant quickly followed in and reported the situation. Callum was surprised when he heard the assistant say that the failure was in terms of the price. However, he looked through all the documents and determined that the price of the Floyd family was most consistent with the market price.
The Anthony family’s price was so much higher than that of the Floyd family. Were they going to carry out the project at a loss?
The assistant also revealed a detail. He asked the insiders to get the news that there was not much change in the documents between the Floyd and Anthony families, except for the price difference.
This matter was really strange. Callum had always handled large projects and he knew that he couldn’t win all of his battles, but these details made him doubtful.
He reported to Fandrey and told the older man his doubts, “The profits of Acma Corporation’ bid are almost minimal, and the price of materials has always been unstable. If the value of the materials rises, they will be carrying out this project at a loss.”
Fandrey chuckled coldly, “This is not something you should be concerned about. Since they are able to get the bid, they must have a way to deal with it. Let’s prepare for other jobs now since we failed. There’s no need to worry about this matter.”
Callum was surprised because Fandrey didn’t blame him at all. “Dad, I have something else to say. Except for the much higher price, all of their conditions are almost the same as us! I’m wondering if someone leaked our company’s confidential documents to the Anthony family!”
