“It’s all her fault for having no self-control. Otherwise, why would she get beaten up in the first place? She can’t blame anyone but herself!” Deborah hated these things the most and she didn’t feel sorry for Madelyn at all.
Fandrey wasn’t on Deborah’s side as usual, but he frowned and said, “That’s true, but Madelyn is one of our staff. We can’t just sit back and watch, can we?”
“She is no longer working for us and I’ve already fired her after I heard about what happened last night!”
“Mom, don’t you think it’s inappropriate? You fired her without investigating and she’s injured. This is too inhumane, isn’t it?” Callum interrupted after hearing Deborah’s words.
“Are you planning on hiring someone as shameless as her? We’re a decent family and people will laugh at us if our staff does something like that. I can’t afford to be humiliated.” Deborah answered grumpily.
“Mom! This is not a matter of shame. Let’s hear what Madelyn has to say about this matter.” Callum felt that things were not as simple as they seemed. After all, Madelyn was related to Emily and he couldn’t sit by.
“Why should I? Are you thinking of standing up for Madelyn?”
“I’m not, I just want to find out the truth. I’ll send someone to the hospital to ask about the situation.”
“There’s no need for that. She has been fired, so why do you need to ask? Are you that free?” Deborah was angry. “Callum! Are you going against me for a servant?”
Callum did not say anything after he heard Deborah’s words and Angel breathed a sigh of relief.
Fandrey’s eyes swept over Angel and a trace of coldness flashed in his eyes. He said slowly, “The matter has not reached a conclusion yet and everything is just based on word-of-mouth. We can’t be convinced with just a few words and photos. Sammuel should go to the hospital to check the situation!”
Since Fandrey had made the final decision, Deborah couldn’t say anything else. Although Fandrey had given in to her most of the time, she knew that she couldn’t stop him from arranging Sammuel’s tasks.
Angel was flustered when she heard that Fandrey wanted Sammuel to go to the hospital to ask about the situation. She deliberately asked Madelyn to buy glutinous rice balls last night.
Needless to say, the person who beat Madelyn was not the man’s wife, but a person arranged by Ornard. Madelyn was beaten for no reason so she would be fired. Madelyn would tell the truth if Sammuel went to the hospital to ask her about it. If everyone knew that Angel had asked Madelyn to buy snacks, what would her grandparents and father think of her?
Angel was extremely panicked and she was in no mood to have breakfast, so she got up and left the restaurant in a hurry. She had to call Madelyn before Sammuel got there to tell the latter not to mention anything about buying food for her.
Sammuel came in from outside as soon as Angel walked out of the restaurant. “Sir, did you call for me?”
Fandrey nodded, “I just heard about what happened to Madelyn. You should go to the hospital immediately and ask about her to see what’s going on.”
“I’ve already been to the hospital.”
“Really? Tell me what’s going on.”
Sammuel glanced at Angel and took out his recording pen. Madelyn’s cries could be heard, “It’s not like that. I didn’t go to see my lover and I just went out to buy glutinous rice balls for the young lady.”
Sammuel’s voice sounded next, “Are you sure you were out to buy that? Are you lying?”
“No, I won’t lie about this. I gave a glass of milk to Miss Floyd last night a She said that she wanted to eat some rice snacks. There weren’t any in the refrigerator at home, so I went out to buy some. When I walked to the door of the supermarket, a man suddenly came to ask me for directions. I kindly pointed the way for him. I didn’t know what was wrong with the man, but he suddenly hugged me. Then, a few women rushed out and began to beat me… Oh… I really don’t know what happened and I don’t know who the man is at all.”
Sammuel closed the recording pen and looked at Angel. “Is it true that she went to buy those snacks?”
“This… this… I don’t know. I just said it casually, but I didn’t expect that she would really buy it.”
Angel faltered and Callum looked at her with shock in his eyes. “If so, why didn’t you say anything just now?”
“I was in a daze and didn’t know what to do.” Angel argued, “I’m not sure if she really went to buy snacks or to do other things. I’m going to tell grandma about it later.”
How could Callum believe Angel’s lame explanation? When Fandrey saw the disappointment in her eyes, he touched his beard and sneered.
“Do you mean that someone deliberately attacked Madelyn? Who are Madelyn’s enemies? No matter who they are, this violence is intolerable! I don’t believe that they can escape the law like this. Lodge a police report and inspect the place.”
Sammuel agreed to call the police, which made Angel extremely worried. Would Ornard get involved in this matter?”
Angel had to tell Ornard the truth, so she ran upstairs in a hurry. When Fandrey saw how panicked she was, he strode to the study with cold eyes.
Sammuel immediately followed in and closed the door behind him. Fandrey’s face was filled with anger. “Did you find the people who beat Madelyn up?”
“I got in touch with William’s men last night and they’ve been caught. They are under the supervision of the police now.”
“Did you find out anything else?”
Sammuel shook his head. “They said they were just doing their job and they only gave out a phone number. The police are investigating it, but I don’t know if they can find anything useful.”
“He even spent money for this! Is this Ornard’s doing? He’s being way too arrogant. If not for the fact that it would disrupt William’s plan, I would have targeted him by now.”
Fandrey was furious. “How can Angel be so ungrateful and help a b*stard like Ornaed? Does she even have a conscience?”
“If Madelyn hadn’t gone out to buy snacks last night, she wouldn’t have been beaten up. It’s obvious that Miss worked with Ornard. Although Madelyn is not a good person, she did her best to satisfy Miss. I wonder why Miss despises Madelyn so much?”
“That’s right. This puzzled me as well. Angel has tried to kill Madelyn over and over again. How did Madelyn provoke her?”
Sammuel pondered for a moment. “Is it because Madelyn is Emily’s younger sister?”
“I don’t think it should have anything to do with Emily. There are other reasons.” Fandrey sneered and his phone vibrated. He glanced at the phone and laughed. “Who said that the culprit couldn’t be found? I think their identity has been exposed!”
