Paisley and Danya bought the necessary ingredients for dinner and headed to Ornard’s villa. Paisley did not instruct Danya to help her out as she wanted to showcase her cooking skills. She occupied herself in the kitchen.
Ornard only came to greet her when she arrived alongside Danya with the raw ingredients. He then went back to the study room that was located upstairs.
Paisley was busy cooking in the kitchen for two hours and finally prepared a table full of mouth-watering dishes.
She placed the tablewares and cutleries on the dining table and took off her apron. She then went upstairs to invite Ornard for dinner.
Paisley heard his voice coming from the study room when she arrived at the door. “Madelyn, that old woman is not our target in winning the game. You should just ignore her and spare her life for a few more days. Your father and grandfather would feel suspicious if you lay a finger on her.”
Angel, who was on the other end of the line, was not willing in listening to his advice and said, “How daring of that old hen to talk nonsense in trying to make me a fool. I won’t be able to keep my cool if I do not teach her a lesson. I also plan to humiliate her and eventually get rid of her from the household. She will no longer be able to set foot into the Floyd family ever again!”
Ornard was still persuading her by advising, “Angel, one needs to have patience in order to win the battle. She is just a useless piece of shit. You can always seek your revenge in the near future.”
Angel refused to listen to him and insisted on making things difficult for Madelyn. Ornard had run out of ideas to persuade her otherwise and proposed, “Just leave her alone. I will get rid of her for your sake.”
Angel finally stop making a fuss upon hearing his suggestion of dealing with Madelyn on her behalf.
Paisley overheard the conversation clearly at the door. She gave a deep thought but struggled to recall who was Madelyn. She needed to pay special attention to this matter given that Angel and Ornard had set their eyes to create trouble. She must arrange for someone in keeping an eye on Madelyn later.
Paisley thought about it while knocking on the door to invite Ornard for dinner. He ended the call with Angel and came out of the study room with a frown on his face.
The two of them went to the dining hall. Paisley served some food on his plate and said, “Do have a try at the spring onion chicken. This is my specialty dish.”
Ornard was very pleased with her hospitality. He took a bite of the chicken and said, “Well, it does taste good!”
“I can cook more frequently since you like it so much,” Paisley said with an affectionate tone which made her feel disgusted about herself.
Ornard glanced at her face with perfect makeup on and knew why she was so attentive to him. It was impossible for Paisley to be attracted to him. She was instead just trying to exploit his resourcefulness.
Paisley was indeed a pretentious woman but was very cooperative as well. Ornard decided to give her an assignment since they were just wanting to take advantage of each other.
He placed his cutleries down and said, “I need you to help me out with something.”
“Okay,” Paisley nodded compliantly.
Ornard was very pleased that she agreed to lend him a helping hand without asking about the details. He decided to come clean with her and said, “I took your advice and suggested to Angel about marrying Richard. She was almost lured into the trap of a servant from the Floyd family when she was inquiring about Richard’s preferences. She was pissed off and wanted to teach that servant a lesson. However, I do not want any trouble to arise since we are now at a critical stage.”
“I know what you mean. It is a piece of cake for dealing with a servant. I’ll arrange someone to get it done right away.”
“The servant’s name is Madelyn Barrack who happens to be the mother of Azalea,” Ornard added.
Paisley was stunned and replied, “Are you telling me that Azalea’s mother is currently working as a servant in the Floyd family? But…”
“You must be taken aback, right? Madelyn is a cunning and opportunistic person. She may have done this just to please the Floyd family and eventually obtain more work opportunities for her daughter. By the way, I have another thing to tell you about. Madelyn’s sister with the name of Emily used to be the first love of Callum.”
“Wow!” Paisley glanced at him with a surprised look on her face.
Ornard scoffed and elaborated further, “This is an astonishing matter, isn’t it? You should be aware that Angel is not the child of my sister and Callum. Aren’t you curious about her biological mother?”
“Could it be Emily then?” Paisley asked.
“You’re right! Angel is indeed Emily’s daughter.” Ornard knew that there are matters which will eventually be known to Paisley. He was fine in telling her some secrets as he needed to join forces with her and take advantage of her. She might be half-hearted about the reliability of these matters. He decided to tell her about the things that she was able to investigate easily. However, he would definitely not let his lip lose forever regarding the secrets that she would never be able to get her hands on.
“Did Emily ever think of reuniting with Angel before?” Paisley asked.
“Of course she does. She would not have agreed on Madelyn becoming a servant in the Floyd family if it wasn’t for this reason.”
“Angel is then Madelyn’s objective of working at the Floyd family after all. Is Angel aware of Emily being her biological mother? Will she try to be friendly with Emily because they are both related by blood?”
“Don’t worry! Angel and Emily are not in the same boat. You just have to get rid of Madelyn that’s all.”
Paisley agreed but she was feeling puzzled as something did not feel quite right.
Ornard and Veronica clearly knew that Angel was the child of someone else. It was utterly weird for them to go the extra mile just to help Angel out.
There must be something fishy going on behind the scene. Paisley needed to get into the root of it.
She had to accomplish the assignment regarding Madelyn as soon as possible. Paisley decided to get rid of her right now to showcase her capability to Ornard.
She then replied in a coquettish tone, “The trouble that Madelyn had caused will be settled by today itself.”
“Really? What are you planning to do about it?” Ornard asked with a captivated look on his face.
Paisley whispered something into his ear. Ornard burst into laughter and said, “Wow! This is a rather good idea!”
“I know, right? I can arrange my men immediately but I need cooperation from Lady Angel to lure Madelyn out of the house. It is not possible for me to instruct my men in teaching Madelyn a lesson if she stays put in the Floyd family’s villa.”
“No problem. I’ll send a message to Angel right away.”
The following scene had occurred at the Floyd family’s villa. Madelyn did the same thing as last night in bringing a glass of milk upstairs to Angel’s room.
Angel was dressed in her pajamas and was laying on the sofa. She was seen to be playing games with her iPad. She glanced at Madelyn upon seeing her entering the room with a glass of milk in her hand. “Madelyn, thank you so much!”
“Don’t mention it as this is my responsibility,” Madelyn handed the milk to her with an ostentatious smile.
Angel did not accept the milk but suggested instead, “Madelyn, I do not feel like drinking milk tonight. I am craving for glutinous rice ball in sweet rice wine. Can you make it for me?”
“Of course! I am willing to do anything as long as you’re happy with it.” Madelyn was puzzled about the sudden request, “However, I need to head out in purchasing the cooking wine as there is none in the house. You would have to wait for a while.”
“Madelyn, I’ll be glad to wait patiently! Do be careful on your way there!”
Madelyn felt that all her efforts were worth it upon hearing Angel speaking in such a gentle tone with her.
She left the Floyd family’s villa in an uplifting mood and headed towards the nearest supermarket to buy the said wine. There was a man who suddenly came out from nowhere to ask for directions when Madelyn arrived at the supermarket’s entrance.
She decided to be a kind person as she was feeling cheerful today. She gladly showed the man about the inquired directions without thinking twice. However, the man suddenly reached out to hold her in his arms. He then kissed Madelyn after talking to her for a while.
Madelyn was dumbfounded as she did not expect such a thing to happen.
Several women rushed towards Madelyn and the man while she was still feeling perplexed about the situation.
Madelyn’s hair was being gripped and she was soon forced down to the ground. Waves of countless fists were being thrown at her. Those women struck while cussing her out, “How dare you to seduce my husband! You shameless bitch, I will beat the hell out of you!”
