The following scene had occurred in the country. Azalea, who was going to sleep, had been sneezing continuously. “Who is scolding me behind my back? Could it be Abbie?”
Azalea’s mood went downhill as soon as she thought of her. Both Abbie and Valeria went to Arcadia and Michael decided to tag along shortly after them as well. It was obvious that he was trying to get ahold of Abbie.
Michael was chosen as the best man at William and Valeria’s wedding. On the other hand, Abbie was the bridesmaid of the couple’s marriage ceremony. Both Michael and Abbie were using the celebration as an excuse to go on a romantic date together, right?
They must be getting comfortable with each other since no one was there to interfere in their private matter. Azalea was no longer in the mood to sleep as she thought of the intimate interaction between Michael and Abbie.
She disregarded the fact that it was currently midnight. She swiftly picked up her phone and texted Meadow, “Mrs. Davis, is there anyone who has followed Michael to Arcadia?”
Meadow was still awake. She was in a bad mood as she got into an argument with Stanty just now. She received Azalea’s message and replied back, “Nope. I was initially unaware that he has gone to Arcadia by himself. I came to know about it not long ago.”
“Abbie is currently in Arcadia as well. Aren’t you worried that the both of them might…” Azalea reminded her.
“Of course I am. I immediately told Stanty to arrange for someone in heading towards Arcadia. However, Michael’s grandfather eventually came to know about it and Stanty soon received an earful from him. My husband returned home and got into an argument with me. I am still very pissed off about it.”
“Well… Meadow, would both you and Stanty attend the wedding?” Azalea queried.
Azalea wanted to make a trip to Arcadia as well. However, it would be a waste of her effort as she had no chance of being close with Michael.
She then thought of Meadow, who was married to an influential and wealthy family. The Howard family must have invited the Davis family in attending the wedding since Michael was very close with William.
There must be a way as long as Meadow would be attending the marriage ceremony in Arcadia. Abbie was then able to voice her opinion of tagging along with her to the said country.
She was feeling hopeful that Meadow would suggest the idea of bringing her to Arcadia. However, things went contrary to her expectation, “Nope. Michael’s grandfather was the only one who had received the invitation. William did not even bother to invite Stanty. I’m so annoyed upon thinking about this.”
It was unexpected that William did not extend the invitation to both Stanty and Meadow in attending his wedding ceremony. Azalea’s hope had vanished within a blink of an eye. “How could such a thing happen? Aren’t you concerned about the gossips that would soon arise regarding both you and Stanty?”
“You’re absolutely right. William is such a bully and how ridiculous for Michael in being such a good friend to him. He does not care about the feelings of me and Stanty at all. William said that the capacity was full as an excuse to not invite us there. It would always be possible to add a few extra seats since the Howard family is very rich, right?”
“What about the Clark family? Did Abbie’s parents not receive the invitation as well?” Azalea queried.
“Isn’t that impossible? William is trying to make us look bad on purpose. Michael, that idiot, was so dense and even agreed on becoming his best man. I am fuming with anger upon thinking about people badmouthing me in secret.”
“Meadow, please calm down as Michael was left with no choice. William is from the Howard family and he is also the president of Wolf Group. He also happens to be on very good terms with the Saunders family. Besides, he has the support of the Floyd family as well. No one would be daring enough to get onto his nerve.”
Meadow sneered upon hearing the Floyd family being mentioned by Azalea. “Haha, the Floyd family may not necessarily be on the same team as William. You shall sit back and enjoy the show!”
“Meadow, what do you mean?” Azalea sensed that something was off.
“Nothing. Azalea, I would like to notify you about something. Your mother has been hired to work for the Floyd family.”
Azalea had initially thought that her mother was working in the Floyd family’s company upon hearing about it. “What? Are you sure that you’re talking about my mother? You are joking around with me, aren’t you? My mother is an uneducated person and does not have any talents. How could the Floyd family accept her in becoming an employee there?”
“Your mother was not chosen to work in the corporate organization. She was instead being employed to work in the Floyd family’s villa. I was being told that she would soon be recruited in becoming a servant there. Her responsibility would be to take good care of Angel, the daughter of the Floyd family.”
“Are you saying that she would be a domestic worker? Is she out of her mind?” Azalea’s mood went downhill.
How could Azalea not be embarrassed if others knew that her mother was a servant?
“Meadow, why didn’t you scrap this idea off my mother’s mind? Isn’t it a shameful thing for her to be hired as a domestic worker? Doesn’t this mean that my career would soon be over because of her?”
Meadow had a totally different perspective compared to her. “Azalea, you need not worry as I know what exactly I am doing. You shall turn a blind eye on this matter and have faith in me. I hope that you can witness this drama from the sideline. There would be a big surprise for you in the future.”
“What is it?” Azalea swiftly asked.
“You will know about it in the future. I shall keep it a secret for now.”
What kind of a surprise could she obtain in the future? Azalea did not take it seriously as she needed to stop Madelynn from bringing shame to her. She currently had to prevent her mother from working at the Floyd family as the servant. She soon recalled that Madelyn was intimidated by Emily. Hence, it would be a good idea to probe Emily in persuading Madelyn to change her mind.
Azalea thought to herself and planned to tell Emily about it the next morning. However, Meadow was quick-witted enough to know what was going through Azalea’s mind. “You can’t tell your aunt about Madelyn, okay? Your aunt is not on the same team as us. She might ruin the party should you let her be aware of this matter. Our efforts would then go down the drain.”
Azalea did not dare to disobey her instruction. Meadow had been backing her up unconditionally after all. It would be game over should Azalea get onto Meadow’s nerve. Hence, she had no choice but to brush that idea off her mind.
Angel excitedly brought the bodyguards along with her to the villa the next morning. She came to have a look at the property with the accompaniment of the bodyguards yesterday and was very pleased with it.
She came here today to pick suitable candidates for working as servants in the villa. She knew what her objective was upon seeking advice from Veronica last night. Callum was in charge of hiring the butler of the property and Angel had no say in it. Hence, she needed to seize the opportunity upon selecting her group of servants. It was currently the best time to hire someone who was on her team.
Angel knew what was Veronica trying to say and accepted the proposal immediately.
She arrived at the villa today to gauge a few servants that would leave a good impression on her. It would serve as a starting point to groom her pool of people in the future.
The butler had invited the potential servants over to the villa which had included Madelyn. Angel sat on the sofa in the living room while observing the candidates from top to toe.
She took her time and queried the servants about their capabilities and talents.
It was soon Madelyn’s turn to be interviewed by her. She was very excited upon receiving news that Angel was scheduled to meet with shortlisted candidates.
This was the first time that Madelyn would get a glimpse of Angel. She dressed well in hopes to leave a good impression and was delighted upon finally meeting Angel. She kept staring at her daughter without blinking an eye.
The interviewer was indeed her daughter. Angel was seen to be wearing branded items and was dressed like a princess. She was absolutely gorgeous! Madelyn was impressed by her daughter’s charisma. Angel had transfused a cultured and confident aura upon speaking. She was clearly much more excellent than Azalea.
It was a breath of fresh air upon the thought of her daughter growing up in a wealthy household. Madelyn was impressed by herself for being so intelligent in swapping children last time. Otherwise, her daughter would never live such a luxurious life like this.
Madelyn was lost in her thoughts and Angel soon began the interview, “What would you like to be hired as? What are you good at?”
