“Are you attempting to test my limit?” Abbie felt increasingly mad once again.
“I do not doubt it at all! I’m still well and fine! Abbie, I’m indeed a bastard who lured you here just to get ahold of you. I am aware that you are upset with me but it is uncontrollable for my desire to see you. I deserve to be punished as I am an absolute asshole! I can always choose to not love you, right? However, I am really struggling at it!”
Michael took a deep breath before he continued speaking, “I feel absolutely terrible when I am unable to spend time with you. I came here ahead of schedule in hopes to meet with you and I genuinely want to get along with you. I aspire to make you happy but I can’t seem to do that. It’s better for me to end my life in being such a loser!”
“Well, why aren’t you dead yet? What is your incentive for deceiving me? Michael, I terribly despise people who would manipulate me. It is outrageous for you to make me a fool several times! You’re absolutely sickening!” Abbie scoffed.
“I am also puzzled by my action of trying to deceive you so many times! It is never my intention for treating you in such a ridiculous manner. I love you so much and I just want to put a smile on your face. I genuinely want to make you happy but nothing seems to go my way.”
Michael let out a bitter laugh and continued speaking, “Abbie, to be honest, I did want to stop loving you. I thought about letting you go and hoped that you would soon find your happiness. However, this plan was not effective at all. You may smile ear to ear and flirt around with other men. You will eventually get married and bear children with him. I am utterly heartbroken upon picturing these scenes inside my head! I am a coward, a despicable and shameless person! What right do I have in choosing to fall for you? It is living hell upon knowing that you despise me to the core and are extremely annoyed by my actions! Do aim the wine bottle on my head and give it a smash. I may then be able to get ahold of myself!”
“Are you trying to get onto my nerve?” Abbie grabbed the wine bottle and said, “Michael, don’t you dare test my patience!”
“I have no doubt that you have the guts to do so! I’m being very serious in this matter.” Michael then reached out and grabbed Abbie’s hand to direct the wine bottle towards his head without thinking twice.
“How dare you…” Abbie did not expect him to be so depressed and subconsciously withdrew her hand. They were struggling among themselves and accidentally knocked over a few wine bottles on the tea table. The bottles soon fell to the ground and smashing sounds were soon being heard. Michael reached out to catch Abbie as he was worried that she would be injured. He had good reflective skills and managed to pull her to the side. However, he cried out in pain as he was being stabbed on one arm by glass debris.
Abbie was pushed away by Michael and fell on the sofa. She heard his scream and witnessed bits and pieces of glass debris on his arm. She was taken aback and asked, “Are… Are you okay?”
Michael could not speak a word as he was in agony. Abbie noticed that blood was seeping down from his arm and shouted, “Somebody, please! I need help here!”
Michael was soon being sent to the nearest clinic. The doctor was helping him to sterilize his wound while extracting the glass debris from his arm. He was also seen to be communicating with Michael in Latin but Abbie did not understand a single word. She curled her lips while observing Michael with a worried look on her face.
Michael’s wound was eventually being bandaged forty minutes later and the doctor had prescribed him some medication. He struggled to get up and Abbie swiftly stepped forward to support him. “What did the doctor say to you?”
“Nothing much. You need not feel distressed as it is just a minor injury. Let’s head back for now.”
Abbie would definitely not believe him should he claim to be seriously wounded. She was extremely worried upon seeing him so calm about it and asked, “Are you sure that it is not a big deal?”
“Yes!” Michael replied while feeling depressed.
He had wanted to pretend about being dead drunk just to force Abbie in coming over to get ahold of him. He planned to make amend with Abbie and be lovey-dovey with her. Michael was indeed out of luck as he had ended up being wounded instead.
Michael sat in the back seat of the taxi in silence on their way back to the hotel. Abbie did not speak a word as well. The both of them soon got out of the car and entered the hotel elevator one after the other.
He had never been so quiet with her whereas Abbie kept peeking at him.
Michael was injured because of her. She would definitely be the victim if he did not push her away. It seemed that he actually cared about her.
He had lost so much blood and was forced to extract the glass debris out from his arm. Michael must be in deep pain, right?
Abbie was not a stone-cold person. Her curiosity had gone through the roof upon observing Michael lowering his head without saying a word in a dejected manner. “Why are you being so silent?”
“I am out of topics to strike the conversation.” His gaze was fixated on his toes and he continued speaking, “I shall be a man of a few words as I do not have talent in expressing myself well. I can then prevent myself from getting onto your nerve.”
He spoke in a lifeless tone without making any eye contact with her. Abbie was feeling agitated and raised her voice at him, “You know that I didn’t mean that. However, you deserve to bear this consequence, right?”
“Yes, I do understand that I am at fault. Hence, I don’t have anything else to defend myself further.”
It seemed that Michael was being passive-aggressive. Abbie scoffed and asked, “How are you going to explain your injury towards others?”
“I don’t think that there is any point in clearing up the confusion.”
Abbie glared at him and questioned further, “Are you out of your mind? How on earth are you going to face Mr. Howard and the others upon being queried tomorrow?”
Michael looked up at her with a bitter smile on his face. “I plan to tell them that I have done this to myself. Are you afraid that I might threaten you by telling them about our personal matter? Don’t worry as I will keep my lip sealed. I doubt things would change even if I notify them about this incident since you despise me so much.”
“You have to stop twisting my words. I’m just…” Abbie suppressed the anger within her and asked, “What are you going to do tonight?”
“What are you talking about? I would of course call it a day.”
“No, that is not what I have meant. You are in a mess.” Abbie glanced at the wine stains on his hair and clothing. “How can you take a shower when your hand is wounded? It would not be good if your injured spot come into contact with water, right?”
“It’s okay as I will pay extra attention to it. I will not clean myself should things get out of hand. Don’t worry about it.”
“It would be best if you can ask someone in helping to bathe you.”
“Who can I look for?” Michael continued speaking, “I don’t have anyone else with me. Where on earth can I get someone to assist me? I would be stripped naked by a woman should I hire one to lend me a helping hand, wouldn’t I? On the other hand, it would be petrifying should I hire a man who turns out to be gay, right?”
Michael did have a solid point. Abbie agreed to his point of view as it would be rather bizarre for hiring someone out of the blue. “Why didn’t you bring your men along in the first place?”
“I did not expect to get injured. Besides, I just want to spend some alone time with you. What benefit would I get by bringing them with me?”
Michael glanced at her upon answering the query. Abbie eventually gave in and offered, “Well… I can help with bathing you!”
“What?” Michael looked at her and felt utterly surprised. Abbie was blushing and she titled her head to avoid his eye contact. “I shall just assume that I would be bathing a pet then.”
Michael thought that it was game over for him. His mood had taken a sudden change upon getting such great treatment despite being injured.
