William hung up the phone and grabbed his coat before wanting to head out. Richard immediately reached out his hand to halt his movement. “William, are you planning to leave already?”
“Of course, my wife has instructed me to call it a day. Someone else may try to badmouth me should I continue to linger around here. I would be much safer in heading home right now.”
“Why would you take my joke so seriously?” Richard did not want to let him go and continued speaking, “Let’s just hang out for a little longer as I have something to ask you. It is regarding Braelynn…”
“No thank you! I am not in the mood to discuss this topic with you,” William outright refused him.
Richard muttered to himself upon seeing William marched out of the pub, “I’m just goofing around with him. Why would he be so petty?”
Richard felt nervous upon thinking that Braelynn might currently be dating an attractive guy. No way, he could not stay put just like this. It was better in departing early to Arcadia since he would need to be the groomsman there after all.
Richard picked up his phone and called his assistant, “Do assist me in booking a flight ticket to Arcadia.”
The following scene had occurred in the Arcadia hotel. Abbie headed back to her room as she wanted to take a shower after enjoying her meal. However, her door was suddenly being knocked.
She opened the door and Michael was seen standing there with a smile on his face. “Abbie!”
Abbie had a blank expression on her face upon seeing him. She was about to shut the door but Michael immediately held it. He glanced at Abbie lovingly and offered, “Abbie, there is a very interesting bar here. Would you want me to bring you there?”
“It’s getting late and I’m not interested in it at all. Michael, I would appreciate it if you leave right now!”
“Abbie, don’t be mad at me already, okay? Please, I’m begging you. I came here earlier in hopes to spend more time with you. Can you fulfill such a request from me?”
“What? Michael, I clearly remember that you are here for official matters. Why would you want to accompany me all of a sudden? Who did you learn from in lying through your teeth?” Abbie scoffed.
“I just simply came up with an excuse just to answer Mr. Howard’s query. Abbie, I came all the way here because of you. Can we just head out to have some fun, please?”
“Absolutely not! I’m calling it a day!” Abbie refused to give in, “It would be bothersome should someone sees us being together when we are not a couple. Michael, please leave immediately!”
Michael did not dare to push his idea further upon seeing her persistent attitude. He had no choice but to leave in a depressed mood.
Abbie turned a blind eye towards his feeling. She then closed the door and headed towards the bathroom to take a bath.
She had dripped some essential oil in the bathtub and taken a nice bath while feeling relaxed. She dried her hair and was about to sleep before receiving a WhatsApp notification on her phone.
Abbie took a glance realized that it was from Michael. The message was in English which had stated, “Hello, I am an employee working in the pub. Your boyfriend had drunk past his limit. Is it possible for you to pick him up?”
Abbie frowned upon giving the message a read. What was going on? Was the message not sent from Michael himself? Had someone else used his phone instead?
She was feeling puzzled and soon received a short video. Michael was seen to be lying on the sofa with his eyes closed and there were countless beer bottles on the table next to him. A young, blond-haired girl with a pair of blue eyes and a hot body had also appeared in the footage.
The blonde girl smiled at the camera and said in a playful voice, “This guy is absolutely dashing and he is definitely my type. I will take him home with me tonight should you decide to leave him alone.”
Abbie knew exactly what was the blonde girl trying to say. She believed that Michael was just pretending but she was not confident that her speculation was accurate. He would then be brought home by the hot chick should he really be dead drunk. They would then spend the night together…
Abbie felt a wave of anger in her chest upon picturing the scene. She gritted her teeth and replied, “Text me the address!”
The location was being sent to Abbie shortly. She changed her clothes and took her purse before rushing towards the pub with an angered mood.
Michael smeared some hard liquor on himself in the pub. He then poured drinks that were highly alcoholic on the bathroom sink. He proceeded to lay on the sofa pretending to be drunk.
Abbie arrived at the said location and saw that he was resting on the sofa without moving an inch. There were also different types of spirit bottles being placed next to him. She marched towards him and reached out her hand to push Michael. She was pissed off and raised her voice at him, “Wake up! Get ahold of yourself!”
Michael pretended to open his eyes and let out a giggle as if he was really drunk. He then shut his eyes after finishing his performance.
Abbie reached out and patted his face. “Michael, don’t you f*king dare to mess around with me! Get up right now!”
Michael opened his eyes once again and caressed her face. “Abbie! I miss you so much!”
Abbie pushed his hand away and replied, “Are you genuinely drunk or are you just goofing around with me? Be prepared to have a taste of h*ll from me should you attempt to deceive me!”
Michael acted as if he could not think straight and continued to mumble his way through, “Abbie… Abbie, please do not give me the cold treatment… I’m terribly sad… I feel heartbroken when you turn a blind eye towards me!”
He spoked while grabbing ahold of her hand. Abbie was feeling perplexed as she was in a love-hate relationship with this man. She was in love with him but despised him for not distancing himself from Azalea and had a controlling mother.
She became friendlier upon seeing him holding her hand while confessing his love towards her. She froze there and allowed Michael to do as he pleased.
Michael was feeling nervous upon holding her hand as he was just pretending to be drunk. However, it would be a waste should he not take things further judging by his current circumstance. He had a plan in mind and soon reached out his hand to hold her waist.
Abbie was caught off guard and accidentally fell on him. They were hugging in a romantic way and Michael decided to seize the opportunity by kissing her within a split second.
Abbie fought back but was unable to break free from him. She could only let him take the lead before realizing that something was off.
Abbie recalled that she had once read an article that stated a drunk person would never do such a thing. One who was pretending to be drunk can only come up with such a bizarre reaction. Was Michael just pretending to be dead drunk all along?
He claimed to have drunk past his limit just to lure her over and messed around with her! Abbie was fuming with anger and bit his mouth as he attempted to kiss her once again. Michael was taken aback by such a reaction and screamed at the top of his lung upon being bitten hard by her.
Abbie did not show mercy towards Michael and blood soon oozed out from his lips. He reached out to brush his lip whereas Abbie sprung up and grabbed the wine bottle on the table. She poured the alcoholic drink on his head and scolded, “Serves you right! This is the payback for you to mess around with me!”
Michael’s face was drenched with wine and his lip was stinging like fire. The booze had flowed down his cheek and he struggled to open his eyes.
Abbie was still not satisfied and proceeded to throw things in his direction. Michael initially dodged her aim but soon sat still as a sculpture. He froze there and let Abbie have her way.
Abbie felt much better after throwing the plate of fruit and pastry towards him. She eventually stopped making a fuss upon seeing Michael sitting there and doing nothing with blood dripping out from the corner of his mouth.
Michael shut his eyes and an ugly smile crept upon the corner of his mouth, “Why are you putting a halt? Do continue to vent your anger out! Abbie, why aren’t you throwing things at me anymore?”
