Chapter 1057 Fine Without It

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Angel’s face was pale and she had mixed feelings in her heart. It was unacceptable not to be invited to the wedding!
He was directly targeting her. She was the eldest daughter of the Floyd family and a highly-ranked figure amongst the socialites. How could she not be qualified to attend William’s wedding? What would she do in the future if this news got out?
Angel couldn’t bear it anymore. She covered her face and ran back to the room.
They looked at each other after they saw Angel like this and Deborah was a little worried, “I’ll check up on her!”
Fandrey didn’t stop Deborah and watched her go to Angel’s bedroom, where Angel threw herself on the bed and cried while Deborah walked over and sat down, “Angel!”
“Grandma! William has gone too far. What have I done to make him do this to me?”
Deborah also felt that William had gone too far, but she couldn’t do anything about it. “This… maybe he really doesn’t have a seat. Otherwise, your cousin wouldn’t have done this.”
“But we just need one more seat? I don’t believe it! Valeria must’ve deliberately asked William to do this. I have repented and apologized. Why is Valeria still treating me like this? Does she even respect you and Grandpa? What position does the Floyd family have? What would the guests at the wedding think of us? Is she trying to stir up trouble?” Angel cried out and slandered Valeria repeatedly.
“This… Valeria is not that kind of person. This matter should have nothing to do with her.” Deborah was still helping Valeria, which made Angel extremely angry.
She wiped her tears and asked, “Grandma, who else could it be other than her? I haven’t offended William and he has no reason to do this to me.”
“Angel, your cousin is not a stingy person and Valeria is not the kind of person to haggle over everything. It may be true that there are not enough seats.”
“It’s just an excuse! The real reason is that they don’t want me to go to the wedding. I took the initiative to say hello when I met Valeria last time, but she ordered Braelynn and Abbie to embarrass me.” Angel took the opportunity to complain.
“Is that true?” Deborah asked in surprise.
“Why would I lie to you? It was in the hotel lobby and there were so many people around. Abbie asked me not to call Valeria my sister-in-law and she said that I don’t deserve it. Braelynn did the same as well and I was extremely embarrassed in front of everyone.”
Angel added fuel to the fire, “I have been holding back because of Valeria’s pregnancy. I was afraid that you and Grandpa would worry about it, but she went all out and refused to let me take part in the wedding. This is too much! I am your granddaughter. Am I less important than an outsider? You and Grandpa must seek justice for me!”
Deborah didn’t know whether Angel was telling the truth or not. If it was true, Valeria had gone too far. When she saw Angel crying, she could only comfort her, “How do you us to stand up for you?”
“All of you shouldn’t attend William’s wedding. Let’s see what they will do!”
“What? How can that even be possible?” Deborah rejected directly.
“Grandma, I mean that you should threaten William with your absence. You can ask him to change his mind to invite me that way. Otherwise, I will be humiliated.”
Deborah felt that this threat was completely useless as William was not a fool. They must have thought about this for a long time before making the decision.
Besides, was William afraid of threats?
The Floyd family had nothing to do with his achievements and he didn’t need to rely on the Floyd family at all. Perhaps they were dispensable in his heart.
It didn’t matter to William if the Floyd family didn’t attend the wedding, but Hayden was different. Hayden definitely didn’t want to attend the wedding, but she couldn’t let him do what he wanted.
“Angel, maybe the seats are really not enough. After all, your cousin isn’t having a grand wedding. I heard from Valeria that they will hold another wedding after she gives birth.”
“They’re going to hold another wedding?” Angel was stunned and extremely jealous.
William loved Valeria so much that he was willing to hold two weddings. It was so enviable! Why didn’t Angel have such a good fate?
If only William liked her, but unfortunately, her status…
Deborah didn’t know what she was thinking. “They can’t do much for this wedding because Valeria is pregnant. Your cousin feels that he owes her too much, so he wants to hold a wedding after she gives birth. So this wedding will be held on a small scale.”
“Really? Didn’t they book the entire castle for a week? Valeria’s wedding dress is designed by one of the most famous designers. Those who will attend the wedding are all famous people, so how could it be on a small scale?” Angel retorted.
Of course, Deborah knew that Angel was speaking the truth. However, there was nothing she could do and her hands were tied. She liked William, but Angel was her granddaughter. She did not want to see  Angel sad, so she could only try her best to comfort her.
“Don’t be sad. I’ll talk to your cousin again and see if he can get another seat.”
William was so busy that he asked Bobby to send out the invitations. He had to meet two foreign clients back to back and even held another video conference.
When he returned to his office, he saw Michael lying on the sofa in his office. William sat down and drank a cup of tea while he squinted at Michael and asked, “Aren’t you a renowned lawyer? Aren’t you busy today?”
“I’m busy, but I’m not in the mood to do anything.” Michael answered lazily.
“Why not?”
Michael complained, “Don’t you know why? Your wife took my future wife away. How can I be in the mood to do anything?”
William sneered, “Would you even have a chance to see Abbie if Valeria didn’t take her away? Why are you still pretending?!”
“At least I can go and meet her. At least I’ll have a chance even if she doesn’t want to see me. How can I do that now that she’s been taken away?”
“Are you stupid? Can’t you follow them? Arcadia is so far away from here and no one will disturb you there. You can do whatever you want.”
Michael was stunned for a moment. “Yes, why didn’t I think of it? I’ll go book a ticket right now.”
Michael didn’t care about William at all and left immediately after that. William looked at Michael’s retreating figure and shook his head. “What a champ!”
He leaned back and checked the time. Valeria should be landing in Arcadia at night. She was still on the plane, so he couldn’t make a phone call. William rubbed his forehead and he began to miss her after just a few hours.
Indeed, he didn’t have time to be idle. Just as he was about to ask Marcus to arrange his schedule, the door was pushed open.
