When they saw Valeria with her large belly, Hayden and Deborah promptly stopped their bickering. Hayden was worried that Valeria might fall when she ran over here, so he quickly stepped forward to stop her. “Slow down, Valerie. You don’t have to run. Go slowly. What if you fall?”
“Dad, why did you come here early in the morning to see grandma and grandpa?” Valeria stood still and held Hayden’s hand.
“I… I’ll… I’ll come over and take a look…” Hayden stuttered.
“Grandma, uncle, have you had breakfast?” Valeria looked at Deborah and Callum with a smile.
“Yes!” Deborah squeezed out a smile and replied. “How about Valeria?”
“I haven’t eaten anything yet. I was going to have breakfast, but Auntie said that dad was out. I came over quickly to take a look,” Valeria said as he looked at Hayden. Her tone was full of complaints. “Dad, didn’t you say that you’re going to buy something for me today? Why aren’t you going to greet me and leave? Are you trying to take back your words?”
“No, am I the sort of person who goes back on my word? Tell dad what you’re interested in. Dad will buy it for you.” Hayden’s attitude was extremely good.
“Let’s go and have a look together.” Valeria said and looked at Deborah with a smile, “Grandma, I’ll go shopping with dad. Let’s have tea together later!”
“Alright.” Deborah could only nod in agreement.
As she watched Hayden and Valeria leave, the smile on Deborah’s face vanished and she angrily entered the room. “Dammit, if it weren’t for Valeria coming over, and if it weren’t for Valeria’s sake, I wouldn’t have been able to kill him! Being harsh in front of me? How dare he!”
Fandrey sat on the sofa in the living room and shook his head. “You can’t win over him. He was self-righteous and doesn’t seem self-effacing at all. If it weren’t for the sake of Valeria, there would be a quarrel today.”
“Quarrel? Bring it on!” Deborah sat down. “I have never seen such a rude person! Tilda was blind to fall in love with him!”
Deborah cursed Hayden angrily. Angel slipped into her room and closed the door. “Mom, you know what, Hayden came over and had a quarrel with dad because of William!” She wrote a message to report to Veronica.
Veronica was ecstatic when she heard about it. “Is that so? Did they fall out with each other?”
“Yes, of course! This is the first time I’ve seen Hayden. He didn’t even show respect to us and roared at dad. Dad looked guilty and his situation was unfavourable. It’s annoying.”
“And then?” Veronica was happy to think of such a scene. Hayden and the Floyd family had completely fallen out with each other. Ornard’s plan had succeeded.
“Later, grandma came out and confronted Hayden. They were equally matched. I thought they were going to fight. In the end, grandma and Uncle Hayden stopped fighting when Valeria came. That’s boring. She looks strange. Why do grandma and uncle seem like they found a treasure when they see her?”
“What did Valeria say?” Veronica suppressed her ecstatic expression when she saw Angel’s text messages.
“She didn’t say anything! She asked Hayden to buy something for her and greeted dad and grandma with a smile. You could never relate that grandma and uncle seemed to be performing a stage show. Originally, they were arguing with each other. However, both of them were smiling brightly after seeing Valeria. Hayden went back with Valeria and the show ended here.”
It was Valeria who stirred up trouble again! Veronica was so angry that she kicked her chair over. Valeria was a real disaster. Veronica always thought that Valeria was a little different from others just because of her good looks and status. She didn’t expect that Valeria could even make Hayden and Deborah listen to her words. Something was wrong.
Valeria and Hayden entered the elevator. Hayden smiled obsequiously. “You haven’t had breakfast, have you, Valeria?”
“No, I rushed here as soon as I got up and heard that you’re coming. I’ve no time to have breakfast.”
“It’s all my fault. Dad will accompany you to have breakfast in Wolf Group. There’s a period I didn’t have breakfast in Wolf Group too.”
“That’s good!” Valeria nodded and agreed. The two of them went to Wolf Group’s restaurant and had their breakfast. The waiter kindly brought up the breakfast. Valeria took a sip of milk and said, “Dad, why did you come to quarrel with grandma and Callum?”
“There’s no quarrel. I’m here to ask a few questions,” Hayden explained.
“Don’t fool me. I heard your loud voice once I got out of the elevator. You’re so fierce to quarrel with grandma. She must be very angry! Dad, why aren’t you be a gentleman? Grandma is a woman. Men shouldn’t shout at women even when they’re quarrelling. Moreover, you’re too rude to her. She is someone that you need to respect, right? Wouldn’t you be angry if I treat you like that?”
“My dear Valeria is so filial, why would you quarrel with me? That’s impossible!” Hayden could only praise Valeria.
“Of course I won’t quarrel with you. I just feel that what you’ve done today is not suitable. Grandma has a good relationship with me. She seemed to be ready to accept you. I strived to build up your good image to grandma. Unfortunately, all the previous efforts had been wasted after this. I have to work hard to retrieve it. Do you know how hard is that?”
It wasn’t easy for Hayden too. If it weren’t for William, he wouldn’t have come here to do such a thing. He didn’t tell Valeria that William had taken advantage of him. It was unfavourable for him.
Hayden couldn’t tell Valeria that this was William’s plan. He touched his beard and smiled awkwardly. “I’ll be more careful next time! I’ll be calm and I won’t speak too loud!”
“Next time? Dad, do you still want to have a quarrel?”
“Oops, my bad! By the way, what do you want to buy today?” Hayden immediately changed the topic.
Valeria shook his head. “I don’t really want to buy things. I’m just afraid that you and grandma would get into a fight. Dad, does William know that you’re quarrelling here?”
“William isn’t at home?” Hayden asked.
“No, he had already gone to the company when I got up, or I would have asked him to accompany me. By the way, I called him on the way but he didn’t answer the phone. He must be busy. I’m so worried. So you came to quarrel without William knowing, right?”
“It can’t be considered as being betrayed…” Hayden stammered.
“You’re afraid to tell him, right? This proves that you feel guilty too. Fortunately, I asked aunt about your whereabouts, and she said that you went to Wolf Group to find the Floyd family angrily. I felt something was wrong and came over soon. Otherwise, you and grandma would have to fight today. Dad, you must figure out how to explain this to William later, or else he would certainly blame you.”
Seeing Valeria was being lied to, Hayden felt extremely guilty and culpable. William was a brat. He didn’t even make it clear to Valeria that he was the one to take responsibility for this. What a trap!
