Abbie left happily after she saw Mark and he called Valeria after entering the elevator, “Valeria, let me tell you some great news. Mark has agreed to design a wedding dress for you.”
“Heavens! It really is hard to imagine! Abbie, I really love you too much! How did you convince him?” Valeria was pleasantly surprised.
“Oh, right! I need to treat Mark to dinner tonight. Come with me!”
“No problem, I’ll tell my husband.” Valeria hung up and went out of the lounge happily. “Honey, I have to meet up with Abbie for dinner.”
“I’m afraid we can’t do that!” William looked up and said, “I also invited someone to dinner tonight and they asked me to take you with me. If you don’t go, I’m afraid it won’t be easy to explain.”
“Who did you invite? Do I know him?” Valeria asked.
“Somewhat!” William nodded.
“Dear, I don’t want to go. All the people you know are businessmen and I don’t have anything in common with them. I’d better meet Abbie to relax my mind. This is good for both me and the children.”
William raised his eyebrows. “Is that so? Do you hate going out with your husband to make some friends?”
“No, it’s mainly because I’ve already agreed to Abbie’s request. I can’t go back on my word, can I?”
“It doesn’t matter since it’s just this once. Besides, I’m sure someone like Abbie won’t mind.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that. You always say that we should keep our word. Our children will be influenced by you. If they know that their mother is not trustworthy, they will definitely despise me.”
William looked at Valeria with a faint smile. “Is that so? You’re meeting Abbie tonight? Is there anyone else?”
“No one else except me and Abbie.” Valeria lied.
William smiled meaningfully and said, “Well, alright. However, I have to remind you that the person I’m meeting tonight is quite special. Don’t regret it!”
“I won’t regret it! Don’t worry!” Valeria said without hesitation.
“Okay, Madam wants to have dinner with Miss Clark. Bobby, send her off!” William ordered Bobby.
Bobby answered, “Madam, please!”
Valeria left with Bobby when she saw William sending her off happily. When William listened to their retreating footsteps, he picked up his phone and called a number, “Tell Mr. Mark that I’ll treat him to dinner tonight.”
Valeria was sent to Wolf Group by Bobby and Abbie was waiting for her in the cafe on the tenth floor. When she saw Valeria coming in, she laughed and said, “Come here and listen to me about my heroic deed.”
Valeria was very curious. “Isn’t he very famous and arrogant? I heard that he has a bad temper as well. He wouldn’t agree to anyone regardless of how high the other party was willing to pay if he was upset, so how did you convince him?”
“I’m so beautiful that I could gain Mark’s favour. He can’t bear to refuse me.” Abbie began to brag.
“Seriously, how did you convince him?”
“I was also very confused as well. I just spoke normally and he simply agreed. I’m still a little dizzy now. Not only did he promise to design a wedding dress for you, but he also said that he would design one for me when I got married. By the way, we exchanged our phone numbers.”
“It’s hard to imagine!” Valeria also felt it was incredible. “Abbie, what have you decided to treat him tonight?”
“I’ll indulge him in the Wolf Group’s specialty menu.”
“Well, that’s good.” Valeria also agreed. “I’ll have to ask for his autograph during dinner.”
“I’m sure it’ll be easy to get his autograph since he’d already agreed to eat together.” The two chatted for a while and noticed that it was getting late. Then, Abbie and Valeria left the cafe for the restaurant that they had booked.
The two of them waited in the private room for a long time for Mark, which made Abbie confused. “What’s going on? It’s been ten minutes. Did he stand me up?”
“Why don’t you call him and ask?” Valeria suggested.
“Alright!” Abbie took out her phone and dialled the number. Mark picked up, but his tone was a bit sorry. “Miss Clark, I am sorry. I have something else to do tonight, so I can’t make it to the appointment! I am extremely sorry! Let’s meet again next time when we’re free!”
Abbie’s face darkened before she hung up the phone and looked at Valeria. “He stood us up!”
“We’re just wasting our time!” Valeria sighed. “What should I do now?”
“We’ll take things as they come. Since the food is already here, let’s eat together!” Abbie decided.
“That’s the only thing we can do.” There were hurried footsteps in the corridor when they were talking, accompanied by the respectful voice of the manager, “We’ve prepared Wolf Group’s signature dishes according to your request. Do you have anything else you wish to add?”
William’s voice was indifferent. “No need, that’s it!”
When William walked past Abbie and Valeria’s private room, he looked at them and said with a faint smile, “Haven’t you eaten yet since both of you came so early?”
“I’ll eat it right away,” Valeria replied dejectedly.
William laughed. “Alright, I won’t disturb your dinner. See you later!”
Upon seeing William walking away, Valeria gloomily picked up her cup and drank some water. Before she could put the cup down, footsteps could be heard from the corridor. Fluent English could be heard from the waiter. “Mr. Howard is already here. Please come this way, Mr. Mark!”
“Mr. Mark?” Valeria immediately put down her cup and looked at Abbie, whose face was also filled with shock. “Your husband invited Mark for dinner? It can’t be the same Mark, right?”
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw a flash of Mark’s white hair as he was led by a waiter. Abbie and Valeria looked at each other and said, “Is it really him? What’s going on?”
“I don’t know! How could my husband have a meal with Mark? Do they know each other well?” Valeria was confused and suddenly remembered William’s smirk when she left. Did William know that she had an appointment with Abbie and Mark?
But how did he know? Could it be that he invited Mark at the last minute?
“Valeria, let’s go and see what’s going on!” Abbie suggested.
“That won’t be good of me since I have already rejected my husband. He would definitely laugh at me.”
“You don’t need to save your pride in front of your husband anyway. What’s there to be afraid of? You can punish him at night if he dares to laugh at you!”
After Valeria pondered for a while, Valeria picked up the phone and sent a message to William, “Honey, I changed my mind. I want to have dinner with you.”
“No!” William rejected directly.
“Why can’t I? William, how dare you not let me eat!”
“Darling, be reasonable. I remember that I reminded you at the company. Don’t you know that you can never get a missed opportunity back?”
“So what? I’m going to your room and Abbie and I will come right now. Let’s see what you can do about it!” Valeria stood up after sending the message. “Abbie, let’s go and have a look!”
