Archer immediately comforted him, “Dad, do calm down and try to take a few deep breaths.”
It was impossible for Gavin to keep his cool. He raised his voice, “This report is inaccurate and I am not buying it! This is utter rubbish! How can it be true?”
“Dad, please!”
Gavin roared, “Are you trying to deceive me just because you are holding a grudge against Raelyn? Hmm?”
“Dad, how could you say that? Do I look like that kind of a person?” Archer smiled bitterly.
“I don’t believe it! This is absolutely ridiculous!”
Arthur also chimed in to calm him down, “Mr. Saunders, you have to believe us! You can always have a look at the footage or have the test done once again to check things out. You can wait there just like we did as the result would be out within five hours anyway.”
“What on earth is happening?” Gavin calmed down for a bit upon the persuasion of Arthur. He still could not accept the truth and threw the report away. “What the hell is going on? Are you sure that Raelyn is not my child? Where is my biological daughter then?”
Gavin shouted at the top of his lungs, “Where on earth is she? Hmm?”
“Dad, I suspect that she may have been mixed up by someone else’s child! It might either be the nurses in the hospital that made a mistake or it was being done on purpose,” Archer replied.
“What? The former speculation of yours is impossible as your mother was in the VIP ward at that time. Your sister was eventually being born and she stayed in the same room with your mother. There was no chance for the nurse to make such a mistake.”
“Well, someone must have planned this ahead then.”
“Who was it? Tell me! Why would they want to replace my biological daughter with Raelyn?” Gavin was extremely upset.
“It may have been done by the people around mummy at that time. The motive may have been wanting that person’s daughter to live a wealthy life. Raelyn is a vicious and shameless person after all. I reckon that she has got it from her parents.”
“Damn it! How dare they do such an inhumane thing! I will not let things slide!” Gavin trembled with anger and continued cursing, “I will show no mercy should I get ahold of the culprit!”
Archer tried his best to comfort him, “Dad, we have yet to know the full picture. Please calm down for now and we will investigate matters thoroughly.”
“How can I be at ease? I have raised Raelyn as my own ever since she was little. I have been lenient and biased towards her all this while. It was not until now that I realize that she is not my child. Where is my biological daughter then?” Gavin’s eyes watered.
Would his daughter still be alive if she was being deliberately replaced? Gavin did not have the guts to think about the worst outcome and asked, “Archer, your sister must still be alive, right?”
“Of course! She must be doing well and fine!” Archer comforted him.
“Archer! Have it checked out immediately! You need to investigate this matter thoroughly!” Gavin instructed. However, it was not an easy task as the incident had taken place decades ago. He swiftly added, “William is an intelligent and a quick-witted person. You can seek his help and it is a must for us to get ahold of your sister!”
Gavin was feeling perplexed and was dying to get ahold of the whereabouts of his biological daughter right in this instance. He hoped that his missing child was still well and alive. He was feeling impatient and said, “Give William a call right away and do not delay things further! Do tell him to instruct his men in commencing the investigation right now. I can’t wait any longer!”
“Alright, you have my word. I am dialing his phone number right now.” Archer did not dare to provoke his father further and swiftly gave William a call.
William was awakened by the ringtone of his phone. He answered with a hoarse voice, “Hello?”
“William, something bad has happened. Do come over as I need your help right now.”
He understood what was happening and replied, “Alright. I’ll be there real soon!”
He sprung up from bed and began to dress up. Valeria was also awakened from the call and asked, “Honey! Why would my dad contact you when it is still so early in the morning?”
“I reckon that it is about Raelyn. Your grandpa finally knows that she is not his biological daughter. Hence, he must be feeling anxious and needed to check things out right away.”
“How could you possibly get ahold of the truth when the incident has happened many years ago? It is impossible to know the whereabouts of his daughter so soon, right?”
“You’re right, but I have to show my effort as respect to him. Your grandpa must be extremely upset and distressed a the same time. I shall head over to his place as he is nevertheless a senior member of the family.”
William swiftly got changed and washed up. He was about to leave and reminded Valeria, “You can still sleep for a while as it is still early! Sweetheart, see you later! I’ll give you a call should anything happen!”
“Alright. Have a safe drive!”
Hayden and Lucas were awakened upon hearing their voices upstairs. They got up to see what was going on and ran into William. Hayden frowned and questioned, “Why are you making a fuss when it is still early in the morning?”
William briefly explained, “It is about Raelyn, as she is confirmed to not be the daughter of the Saunders family. Gavin is extremely upset upon receiving this piece of shocking news. Hence, Arthur is asking me to head over in talking things through with him.”
“How… you’ve known about this long ago, haven’t you?” Hayden glanced at Lucas and realized that he was also as shocked as him.
“I got to know about it from Declan a few days ago as well. Raelyn is suspected to be the daughter of a servant with the name of Laila White. She has murdered her mother, whereas her father has gone missing. It’s not an easy task in getting ahold of the entire picture.”
Hayden froze for a moment upon hearing about it. “Are you sure that Raelyn is the daughter of Laila? You’re talking about the same person who used to work under Mont’s wife, right?”
“Yes, based on the information that I have obtained from Declan. I shall make a move now and I will update you guys about this matter later!”
William was seen to be in a hurry. Lucas swiftly halted him and said, “Mr. Howard, hold up!”
“I would prefer if you can discuss trivial matters with me after I have returned home.”
“Mr. Howard, It’s about an important thing which relates to Laila and her husband!” Lucas continued speaking, “I know who her husband is and I also happen to know his whereabouts.”
“Really? I didn’t expect to locate him in such an easy way!” William was overjoyed and sat down on the sofa instead of leaving the house. “Alright then. Where is Laila’s husband currently at?”
“He is in prison.” Lucas continued speaking, “He used to be a gangster during the old days who did various kinds of illegal activities. He got into a heated argument with Laila and they eventually got divorced. He has regained his freedom and became much worse. He was eventually arrested due to his guilty acts and was sentenced to serve twenty years in jail. Speaking of which, he should be coming out real soon.”
“Are you indicating that he has no idea that his wife had swapped their child?”
“He would definitely be aware of it should Raelyn was indeed being changed by Laila. I used to be friends with him last time and I do recall that he had a child with Laila. The child eventually did not make it due to some complications during the childbirth process. There was no trace of sadness from him and he seemed to be rather happy,” Lucas recalled.
“Laila was impregnated at the same year with Mrs. Saunders. Their due dates were very close too. Raelyn’s birthday falls in October, which coincides with the day that Laila had lost her child. Could Laila have lied about the death of her child? She could have just come up with this excuse just to swap Mrs. Saunder’s child, couldn’t she? Isn’t this too vicious and inhumane?”
