Deborah’s eyes lit up as well and asked, “Really? How about asking him to tag along with us?”
“Sure, I shall give him a call to ask if he has the free time.” Valeria immediately contacted William, “Honey, are you currently at B City’s highway? I happen to be here too.”
“Yes, I’m here to have a word with your father. Would you like to join us then?”
“Sure! I’m here with your grandma. Do you have the time to hang out with us later?”
“Of course!”
Valeria hung up the phone and said, “William is with my dad right now. Let’s go and say hi to them.”
“But… won’t we become an inconvenience for them?” Deborah had a second thought when knowing that Archer was with her grandson.
“Absolutely not. Grandma, there is no need to be worried as we are a family. Let’s go!”
Valeria took Deborah to the private room where Archer and William were currently at. Archer immediately stood up upon noticing their arrival and greeted, “Mrs. Floyd, nice to meet you!”
“President Saunders, nice to meet you too!” Deborah smiled and shook hands with Archer. “I hope that we did not intrude on you guys, did we?”
“Not at all! Mrs. Floyd, this way please,” Archer invited Deborah to have a seat.
William gestured Valeria to sit down as well and asked, “What would you like to have?”
“No, thank you as I shall pass. We just had afternoon tea and were going to watch an opera performance. I saw your car and immediately contacted you as we hope that you could accompany us too.”
“Alright. It would be my honor to join these beautiful ladies for an opera show later,” William replied while smiling dotingly.
“What were you guys discussing about?” Valeria asked.
“It’s about Raelyn.” William cut straight to the point and continued speaking, “She is not the daughter of your grandfather. We have been discussing several ways on how to deliver this piece of news to your grandfather.”
Both Deborah and Valeria were startled and asked, “Are you sure?”
“Yes. William has the DNA report with him,” Archer nodded.
“I did not expect this coming at all.” Valeria’s eyes were wide and she continued speaking, “Grandpa has always been biased towards Raelyn and it would be chaotic if he gets to know the truth. Well then, do you happen to know who her father is?”
“We are still in the midst of finding out more about it. As far as we are concerned, it is suspected that her mother is a servant with the name of Laila White. Raelyn had gotten rid of her mother, whereas her father was a gangster. We do not know about his current situation as Laila had cut ties with him many years ago. Well, this is indeed a troublesome matter.”
“Why would Raelyn murder her mother?” Valeria was very surprised upon hearing about it.
“She might just want to get rid of the evidence. Laila may have told her the truth but Raelyn still wanted to get a share of the fortune. Hence, getting rid of her mother would be the easiest method to achieve her objective!” Deborah chimed in.
“Oh My God. Isn’t that too vicious and inhumane? How could she have the heart to kill her mother? How pity for grandpa to raise such a remorseless child who he assumes as his daughter for so many years. He even treats us unfairly just to protect Raelyn from getting hurt.” Valeria was dumbfounded by it.
“Mrs. Floyd has a solid point but Laila is already dead. It is an unresolved mystery as to how my biological sister got replaced with Raelyn. I am very curious to know how my sister is currently doing,” Archer sighed.
“I still remember the time when my mother was pregnant. I am certain that she has given birth to a daughter. My biological sister either got lucky and is still alive or being gotten rid of. It will be nice if I get to reunite with her, but I am worried that she may have been long gone.”
“It is said that kindness is a powerful weapon. President Saunders, cheer up as your sister may still be around. You will eventually reconnect with her one day,” Deborah comforted him.
“I hope so.” Archer was still rather pessimistic and continued speaking, “The only one who knows the truth is Raelyn and her missing father. William and I are trying to come up with ways to get ahold of him. We also need to discuss how to tell my father about this matter.”
“I can handle the former matter accordingly.” William picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea. “I’m now rather worried about Gavin as this is a sensitive topic. I don’t know whether he could accept the truth or not.”
“He definitely would be shocked but we can’t keep this a secret forever. We can’t let Raelyn off the hook and she has to pay for what she has done.”
William nodded and thought for a moment before saying, “She was beaten up by Devon, whereas Natasya was taken away by the police for investigation purposes. She would try to make Gavin take pity on her upon regaining her consciousness. Raelyn will promise to repent her mistakes and beg for his mercy. Let’s start things from there then.”
“But how?” Archer asked.
“I reckon she would use the same tactic as Savannah last time. Raelyn will claim to commit suicide and try gaining sympathy from Gavin. She would go all out just to make him side with her. A meticulous plan would be done by her and I am confident that it would be a bloody one. We shall seize the opportunity and present the truth to him by then.”
Archer was stunned for a moment and immediately knew what he meant. “Alright. I shall make the necessary arrangements right away.”
William chuckled and said, “Let me be the lead as I know that you are not a fan of this. I’m very experienced in handling these matters.”
Valeria glared at William and said, “You always have a share in fishy acts!”
“I was just trying to help your father out, wasn’t I?” William laughed and continued speaking, “You should praise me instead!”
Deborah did not expect to hear such breaking news and it was not a glamourous one. Both Archer and William evidently did not view her as an outsider.
She immediately said, “Do not hesitate in reaching out to us should you require our assistance. The Floyd family happen to have a lot of connections as well.”
“Thank you for the offer, grandma. I am doing fine for now.” William looked at the time and said, “Archer, is there anything else that we have yet to discuss? I have promised to accompany them in watching an opera performance later.”
“We have gone through everything that was on our list. You guys can make a move now.” Archer stood up with a smile and said, “Mrs. Floyd, I would like to treat you and your family to a meal some other day!”
“That sounds good. Let’s meet up soon then!” Deborah nodded with a grin on her face.
The following scene had taken place in the hospital of Bricksburg. Raelyn finally regained her consciousness after passing out for a few hours. Her neck was swollen and her entire body was aching in pain. She burst into tears after getting ahold of the reality.
She hated Devon so much! She felt a sense of remorse upon learning that he was such a cold-blooded person. She regretted being blinded by love when he was not worth it.
She would not have married him should she have known about his true personality. She would also have avoided plotting against Archer and Natalie for the sake of him.
She should not have got onto Archer’s nerve. He would have treated her kindly if they were not on bad terms, wouldn’t he?
She will then have a safety net and live a carefree life. It was impossible for her to be caught in such a mess.
Raelyn felt defeated as she knew what her future would be like. Her ruined reputation was not the most important matter to her. However, she was most feared that the guilty things that she had done would eventually be exposed. She knew exactly what her bad deeds were and she might not be able to escape from punishment.
Raelyn did not want to die just yet and there was only one way out. She needed to apologize to Gavin and let him sympathize with her. He might then be persuaded and eventually back her up.
