Chapter 935 Do Sit Back And Wait Patiently

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Raymond immediately glanced at Gavin in surprise. His grandfather was still trying to patch things up when the situation had gone out of hand.
Raymond sneered and said, “You must be assuming that I am a ruthless person, right? However, I am being merciless compared to the cold-blooded Raelyn. She is the one who always started it first. Her entire family had plotted against my mother before laying a finger on my sister. She also tried to get rid of my brother-in-law and now she is targeting me instead. Don’t you think that she was ridiculously vicious at that time then? You have always sided with Raelyn and criticized my father and sister for being unreasonable. I am currently being blamed, which would make my entire family at fault. Are you sure that Raelyn is the innocent one judging by current circumstances? Have you gone slow-witted or have you chosen to be blindsided by the facts?”
“I… I did feel a bit skeptical towards her, but…” Gavin tried to defend himself before Raymond outright interrupted him.
“Grandpa, there is no need for you to explain further! You are biased towards that ruthless and cold-hearted person. My family and I have been very disappointed in you. I shall make it clear once again that we are not interested in your company shares at all. You are free to transfer it to whoever you wish to. However, I will not hesitate to be hot-headed should you continue siding with Raelyn!”
Raymond had always been a polite and gentle person. However, he showed no room for discussion about Raelyn’s matter. Gavin did not dare to explain himself further upon seeing the stern look on his grandson’s face.
Raymond sneered and looked at Talitha before saying, “Alright then. It’s now time for us to leave the party!”
Talitha followed behind Raymond to exit the study room. Raymond turned his head around and glanced at Raelyn upon reaching the door. “By the way, it’s wise for you to play a good show right now. You still have less than twenty-four hours in persuading Gavin to lend you a helping hand to turn things around. Well, it would be a miracle if that turns out to be the case as you are no match with us. Oh right, I have something else to tell you about. We are all aware of the dirty little secret that you tried so hard to conceal. You will be met with a bigger surprise real soon! Do sit back and wait patiently!”
Raelyn felt a hint of nervousness upon hearing about it. Was Raymond speaking the truth or was he trying to intimidate her?
The secret was so well-kept that no one other than Raelyn and a deceased person would know about it. She decided to keep calm as she assumed that Raymond was just trying to mess with her head.
Raelyn suppressed the negative thoughts and immediately knelt in front of her father. “Dad, you have to help me out! I am the innocent one as I am not aware that the Anderson brothers are so despicable and shameless. I neither expect Declan would plot against me nor be aware he would do such a cruel thing to Talitha. I have been taken advantaged by them and I am truthfully the victim in this chaos. Dad, please persuade Raymond to not spread this scandal out. I won’t be able to live with dignity!”
Gavin stared at Raelyn, who was kneeling on the floor. He closed his eyes and said, “Get lost! Don’t you dare to see me ever again!”
“Dad, I am your only daughter! You used to adore me so much when I was still a child back then. You promised mummy that you would take good care of me. You can’t just go back on your words!” Raelyn deliberately mentioned her mother who had passed away.
There was a trace of sadness on his face upon hearing about his deceased wife. “That is exactly why I have been tolerating you countless times despite you being in the wrong! Raelyn, do try to step into my shoes. Are you still not satisfied when your brother and I have been treating you so well? Why didn’t you feel any sense of guiltiness when you decided to join forces with the Anderson brothers just to mess with your brother and even tried to deceive me. Why didn’t you feel any sense of regret back then?”
“Dad, I’m sorry and I promise to learn from my mistake. Please give me a chance, okay? I hope that you would persuade my brother to have mercy on me before my life would be completely ruined. Dad, please!” Raelyn hit her head against the ground at great force, and her forehead soon started to bleed.
Gavin sighed and eventually did not have the heart to see Raelyn in such a mess. “This is the last time that I would help you out! You are an eyesore and do get lost right now!”
Raelyn got up and hastily left without a sense of regret. She knew that she still stood a chance when Gavin took pity for her. She decided to seize this perfect opportunity to turn things around.
The most urgent thing right now was to get ahold of Devon. Raelyn was in disbelief that he would turn his back against her. She needed to confront things with him in person.
Raymond and Talitha eventually returned to the Saunders Enterprise Hotel. Talitha went back to her hotel room whereas Raymond informed the bodyguards that he was about the leave. She then voiced out her request to him.
“Raymond, can you please do me a favor?”
“What is it?” Raymond asked.
“Well, I… I no longer have a safety net in the future. I would want to start working but I have no skills. Raymond, can you help me in finding a job? I don’t mind doing basic tasks. I will be humble and would never cause any inconvenience to you.”
Raymond did not expect her to be interested in being employed. He pondered for a moment and said, “Working is not as easy as you think.”
“I am well aware of it. However, I still need a job, right? No one will take care of me unconditionally forever and I would want to be independent from now onwards.” Talitha had grown mature after experiencing countless incidents. She could only depend on herself instead of her parents.
Raymond did not refuse and replied, “Okay then, I shall assist you in finding a suitable job. Anyway, you should call it a day and do not simply linger around. You have to keep a low profile until things are eventually solved, okay?”
“You have my word!” Talitha obediently replied.
Raymond instructed the bodyguards for some precautions and eventually left the hotel. He headed straight to Wolf Group in hopes to get ahold of William.
He saw Marcus and Bobby in the office upon pushing open the door. They were talking to William and their discussion was coming to an end. William glanced at him and asked, “How was it?”
“Do let me have a glass of water first. I’m so thirsty!” Raymond replied while taking a seat.
Bobby grinned and poured a glass of water to him. Raymond drank half of it in one sitting and told them how Gavin had slapped Raelyn just now. He said angrily, “My grandfather still has the idea of protecting her when she is clearly at fault. I think he is out of his mind!”
“Your grandfather is indeed stubborn!” William shook his head and looked at Marcus before speaking, “It’s time to let him have a look at the DNA identification report.”
Marcus picked up the report from William’s table and handed it to Raymond. “Mr. Saunders, have a read at this!”
Raymond flipped through it and questioned, “A paternity test? Wait, there is no blood relationship between the two samples? Who does this belong to?”
“It is a report of Raelyn and your grandfather,” William continued, “I instructed someone to have the testing done in a short time. Raelyn is not the daughter of your grandfather which makes her an outsider of the Saunders family.”
“Wait… what… what is going on? How could she not be my grandfather’s daughter?” Raymond was extremely shocked.
