Gavin looked extremely pale when he heard Raelyn’s words. “Are you sure that Raymond did these things?”
“I am sure! I suspected that Talitha was the culprit that caused Natasya’s miscarriage, so I went to ask her about it. She admitted that everything was done by Raymond. Dad, I know that Natasya once let Raymond and Valeria down. She made a mistake, but she and Talitha ended up like this. Why is Raymond still not willing to let them go? Talitha spoke to me with a smile yesterday while she called me Mom, but she’s nothing but a corpse now. How can I live like this?”
Raelyn cried and her eyes rolled back before she pretended to faint. Gavin turned pale and he immediately called Arthur, “Arthur, come out now! Carry Raelyn into the house!”
Raelyn was helped to the sofa in the living room. Gavin was so worried because he thought that she really fainted, so he kept shouting for Arthur to send Raelyn to the hospital.
Arthur was well aware of Raelyn’s hidden intentions. “Sir, I’ll press on her acupuncture point to help her gain consciousness. If that’s useless, I’ll send her to the hospital.”
After saying that, Arthur pressed Raelyn’s acupuncture point forcefully. It was so painful that Raelyn could not pretend to faint anymore. Arthur had pressed on her skin until bruises appeared and it was excruciating.
Raelyn couldn’t keep up her act anymore, so she cried sadly as soon as she opened her eyes. Gavin was angry and distressed, so he picked up his mobile phone and called Raymond. “Come over right now!”
Raymond’s attitude was cold. “I’m not free! You can tell me what happened through the phone.”
Gavin was infuriated by Raymond’s attitude because it was completely different from before. He had no choice but to ask, “Let me ask you, what happened to Talitha?”
“How should I know? I don’t gossip around, so how would I know about these things?” Raymond retorted coldly.
“You’re still pretending. Your aunt just came here and said that you killed Talitha. She even said that you asked Talitha to buy the abortion drugs to target Natasya. Is that true?”
Raymond sneered and glanced at Talitha. “What do you think?”
“I’m asking you! Did you kill Talitha?”
“Of course not! I am not a homicidal maniac. Why should I harm her?” Raymond denied.
“He’s lying! He killed Talitha!” Raelyn’s angry voice could be heard from over the phone.
Raymond sneered. “You can sue me if I’m the one who killed Talitha. We’re in a lawful country. You don’t need to question me about this anymore and you can just report it to the police.”
“Do you think I won’t dare to do that?” Gavin was angry. “You are so heartless. How could you do something like that to your cousin…”
Before Gavin could continue scolding Raymond, the latter had already hung up. Gavin called again, but Raymond had already blocked his number.
Gavin was so angry that he gasped. “He’s out of control! This is unacceptable!”
“He’s getting ahead of himself! The evidence must have been destroyed by him! Dad, you must help me avenge Talitha!” Raelyn roared.
Gavin took out his mobile phone and angrily called Archer. As usual, the phone could not be connected.
He was so anxious that he stomped his feet. “Are all of them going against me?!”
Raymond hung up and directly blocked Gavin’s number. After that, he looked at Talitha and sneered, “Did you hear that? Your mom met up with Grandpa and said that I was the one who did this to you. Fortunately, you survived. If you were dead, I wouldn’t be able to clear my name even if I took my own life.”
“I’m sorry, Raymond! It’s all my fault. I’ll explain it to Grandpa now. This has nothing to do with you.”
“Okay, but now is not the time to do that. Right, what do you think your mother will do next? Is she trying to avenge you, or is she using your death as an excuse to ask for money from Grandpa?”
Talitha was silent for a moment. “I think a normal mother would do anything to avenge their daughter’s injustice, but I know she won’t. Her ultimate purpose for going to Grandpa should be to get his shares and money.”
“Well, I’m sure you understand your mother’s character the most.” Raymond sneered. “I think so too. Let’s ignore your mother’s plans for now because we have something else to do. Are you okay? Can you meet your father?”
“I can!” Talitha nodded.
“Okay, then let’s go!” Raymond turned and walked out with Talitha following behind him.
The two of them left the hospital and got into the car before they headed straight for the detention centre.
The car arrived at the gate of the detention centre. After they waited for about ten minutes, a black Maybach slowly came over. Then, it stopped beside Raymond’s car.
Bobby opened the door and William got out of the car with his hands in his pockets. Soon after that, Raymond and Talitha got out of the car.
William glanced at Talitha and said, “Let’s go!”
Meanwhile, Declan was lying on the bed in the detention centre while he stared blankly at the ceiling after dinner. The sky slowly darkened and the room was dark. The lights on the corridor were cast onto the wall from the narrow windows of his cell while Declan lay motionlessly.
It was less than a week before his death penalty. He really didn’t have much time to live anymore.
Declan was not afraid of death. He had done so many bad things and he had no regard for life or death anymore. Sooner or later, he would die anyway and death was not a terrible thing after all. The only regret he felt now was that he had never confessed his love to Raelyn, and he could never ask Talitha to call him Dad.
Declan sighed heavily when he thought of Talitha because he didn’t know how she was doing now. His bother had been suspended and his company with Raelyn was gone as well. If the Saunders family fell apart, he was sure that Talitha wouldn’t be able to live a good life.
If he had known it would be like this, he should have held back at the start. He should have transferred some assets abroad, so that Talitha would have no worries for the rest of her life. But what was the use of thinking about this now?
Footsteps could be heard from the corridor and soon stopped at his door. The key rang and the door was opened. Soon after, the voice of the guard could be heard, “Hurry up and come out, inmate 2024. Someone wants to see you!”
Why would someone come to see him so late at night? Could it be that William was looking for him again?
Declan would never want to see William, but he was in no position to refuse at this moment.
As the guard continuously ushered Declan out, he put on his shoes and dragged his heavy shackles out of the room. Then, he followed behind the guard and the sound of the chains rang out crisply along the empty corridor.
Soon, Declan was brought to the meeting place. When he saw that the person sitting opposite the glass window was not William, but Talitha, he widened his eyes in shock.
