Chapter 910 The Secret

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Hearing the noise inside, Sammuel pushed the door open and walked in. Deborah was sitting on the sofa, looking furious, “Damn it! How dare she talk to me like this!”
“Don’t be angry, madam,” Sammuel tried to calm her down, “There’s no need to be angry, you have to take care of your body, madam.”
“How can I not be angry? She… she even dared to talk back to me!” Deborah thought of Emily’s indifferent look. She figured that if she dared to swear on her life, it meant that she really had no feelings for Callum anymore.
The more indifferent Emily was, the more angry Deborah was. She believed that her son was a very excellent man, so how could Emily ignore Callum like this?
When Deborah thought of the love and affection his son had towards Emily, she became more pissed off.
Deborah reckoned that Emily was too cruel. She could understand if she was able to let go of Callum, but how could she swear that she would never see Angel again? Angel was her daughter after all.
How could she said such words? No matter how, Angel was still her daughter.
Deborah felt that she had been humiliated by Emily and complained to Sammuel angrily, “That woman is too vicious! She even swore that she would never see Angel again, otherwise, she would die a terrible death.”
Sammuel was stunned too, “This… This is too…”
Even though Emily did suffer a lot in the past, but Angel was still her and Callum’s daughter. It was incredible that she was able to swear on her life to not see Angel again.
Sammuel couldn’t say anything, and he couldn’t comment on the Floyd family’s matter either. All he could do was to calm Deborah down.
Deborah sat in the room for a while more before returning home. When she returned to the hotel, she went to ask Angel and Callum about their visit to Emily.
Angel on the other side, did not have a good impression of Emily too. She could see that Emily disliked her. In order to pretend to be nice, she peeled the oranges and apples for her but she didn’t expect Emily to be ungrateful for that. She couldn’t believe Emily was so full of herself.
Therefore, when Deborah asked Angel about Emily, she told Deborah everything, “Dad said that she was a friend and we bought flowers and fruits before visiting her. Well, Emily looked very arrogant and ignored us completely.”
Angel wanted Deborah to hate Emily so she told her how she really felt. However, Deborah didn’t really believe what Angel said, “Are you telling the truth? She’s really cold to you?”
“Really, why would I lie to you? I gave her the flower and greeted her but she just thanked me coldly. Bah! She didn’t even look at me at all. She just casually placed the flower on the table. I noticed how awkward the atmosphere was, so I peeled the orange for her. She didn’t eat it and just put it aside. I saw that dad wasn’t very happy, so I peeled her an apple but she still didn’t eat it. Her attitude was extremely cold. Man, she was really rude.”
Seeing that Emily really didn’t want to have anything to do with Callum and Angel, Deborah was relieved. Yet, she still felt a little unhappy.
After that, Deborah told Fandrey everything, “It’s really rare to have such heartless woman in the world. It’s a good thing we saw through her and strongly opposed their marriage. Otherwise, if we really listen to Callum, our household will be in a mess! She would definitely bring harm to our family.”
Fandrey didn’t say anything after he heard what his wife said, he just sighed and spoke, “The woman he married now is not good either. Look, what had she done to Angel?”
Deborah didn’t say anything after hearing Fandrey’s words. Indeed, Angel had done a lot of bad things recently.
It was said that humans were born good, so Angel couldn’t be bad in nature. Also, Deborah and Callum never taught Angel to be a bad person, so the only person who taught all the bad things to Angel was Veronica.
At that time, Deborah was the one who insisted Veronica marry Callum. Thinking that Veronica had two faces, Deborah felt annoyed.
Angel went back to her room as soon as she finished reporting everything to Deborah. She shut the door and called Veronica immediately, “Mom, I found a very strange thing today. I figured I should let you know.”
“What is it?” Veronica asked.
“Today, dad asked me to accompany him to see a friend. He was being strange and he also asked me not to tell others about us visiting his friend. After dad and I came back, grandma came to ask me about it. I didn’t tell her anything but how would she know about it? She also looked very unhappy. Mom, what is going on?”
“That friend is a woman?” Veronica asked, her heart was thumping very fast.
“Yes, that friend is a very beautiful woman. She had a car accident and was hospitalized,” Angel answered.
Veronica could already guess who it was and she was extremely mad. She thought that it was okay if Callum went to visit Emily himself. But why did he take Angel along with him? Veronica couldn’t believe what Callum had done. She suppressed her anger and asked, “How is his friend’s attitude toward you?”
“Let me tell you, her attitude is not good at all. Dad’s friend is very full of herself. She is so cold when dad talks to her. When I see her, I was really angry. I really wanted to swear at her.”
Veronica knew for sure that it was definitely Emily. Emily used to act like she was high and mighty in front of Callum before. Veronica couldn’t believe that she was still the same. When Veronica thought of how gentle she was in front of Callum, she couldn’t help but get irritated. She then tried to control her anger as she said, “Don’t talk nonsense, maybe it’s because she is not feeling well. Listen, you shouldn’t say that in front of your father.”
“I know, I’m not stupid either!”
After Veronica hung up the phone, she immediately called Ornard, “Ornard, Callum brought Angel to see Emily, isn’t that too much? What is he trying to do? Is he planning to let Angel and Emily reconcile with each other? What the hell does he think he’s doing? Who does he think I am?!”
Ornard sighed after listening to Veronica’s complaint, “I just heard about it too. I heard that Deborah has met with Emily, I guess she’ll not make everything easy for Emily.”
“What? Ha! She will only say something unpleasant at most. What can she really do to her?”
Ornard knew how exactly Veronica was feeling so he said, “I know you hate Emily, but she’s no longer a threat. With Fandrey and Deborah around, she can’t really do anything.”
“This is not about what she can do. Ornard, have you thought about one thing? If Callum insists on letting Emily and Angel recognize each other, do you know what will happen?”
“What’s there to be afraid of? Angel is not Emily’s child, why should we worry about that?” Ornard did not take the matter seriously.
“How can you think of things so simply? Ornard, both of us know that Angel is not Emily and Callum’s child, but both of them had no idea about it. What if they insist on letting Angel recognize Emily and then find out the secret about Angel?”
“Uh… I don’t think so…”
“Things will always be known, it is impossible to keep this a secret forever,” Veronica then said with hatred, “Ornard, I think we should take action now!”
