Seeing that Callum and Angel finally left, Emily stopped pretending and threw the fruits that Angel peeled for her into the trash can in disgust.
Emily believed that Callum must be out of his mind to come to see her with the children of other women.
“Does he still think that I don’t know anything?” Emily thought to herself. She thought that if she hadn’t been careful enough at that time, her child would have already died. “Callum is definitely something else!”
Emily was very angry. She figured she could not stay in the hospital any longer. If she continued to stay there, she would really get ill.
Emily thought she had to get out of the hospital as soon as possible and go back to Misurton. So, she immediately got out of bed, picked up her purse and phone, and went straight to the hospital hall to go through the discharge procedures.
After completing the discharge formalities, Emily called Arthur, “Mr. Saunders, I am discharged today. I have to go back to deal with something urgent at home. Anyway, you can call me to talk about the car maintenance at any time.”
Although Arthur was surprised to hear that, he could not say anything. After hanging up the phone, he went to tell Gavin about Emily getting discharged from the hospital.
Gavin thought that there was really something urgent in Emily’s house, he then sighed and said, “What a poor woman, she is discharged from the hospital before she’s healed. It seems that she really has something to do. You should look out for her in case she needs some help. About the car, you don’t need to find her anymore.”
Emily’s car was in the repair shop since it was damaged. Therefore, she could only take the high-speed rail back to Misurton.
She took a taxi to the high-speed rail station. Then, she bought the tickets and entered the hall. When she was going to check in, Sammuel suddenly appeared in front of her and stopped her from leaving, “Miss Poland, Madam Deborah wants to meet you.”
Emily frowned and took a step back when she saw Sammuel, “Sorry, but I don’t have the time now!”
“Miss Poland, I suggest that maybe you should see her right now. I guess you’re familiar with her temper, she will chase after you to Misurton if you don’t go to see her now. I’m sure you don’t want things to get complicated later too.”
Emily’s expression changed when she heard Sammuel’s words. She thought that she had someone she cared for now and she had no ability to compete with the powerful Floyd family. After giving it a deep thought, she nodded and said, “Well, I will follow you to see her then.”
After that, Sammuel gestured for her to follow him. She then followed him out of the waiting hall and into the car that was parked outside.
Sammuel didn’t say anything else afterward. He just started the car and left the high-speed railway station straight away. Emily sat in the back row with pursed lips and didn’t utter a word. After driving for about half an hour, Sammuel got out of the car and opened the door for her, “Miss Poland, we’re here!”
Emily took her bag and got out of the car. The meeting place was a very quiet tea house. She was led by Sammuel to a private room after that. When she entered, Deborah was sitting in the room and drinking. She looked up when she saw Emily come in.
Both of them were staring at each other. When their eyes met, Deborah lowered her eyes and covered up the disgust in her eyes. Then, she raised her hand and beckoned to Emily, “Take a seat.”
Emily didn’t say a word and sat down in front of Deborah. Deborah was waiting for her to question, but Emily had no reaction. She just sat down remained silent.
Deborah didn’t expect her to be so calm. After a while, Deborah was the one who broke the silence and questioned, “You’re seeing Callum again?”
Emily replied calmly, “For your information, I don’t want to meet Callum. He came to find me himself.”
“Can’t you refuse him when he goes to see you?” Deborah retorted.
“I refused. Madam Deborah, how do you know that I didn’t refuse?”
“Really? If you really refused to see Callum, then why did he bring Angel to see you again?”
“You should go and ask Callum about that. I’m not him, how will I know what he’s thinking?” Emily rebutted.
Emily’s attitude angered Deborah so she spoke, “Ms. Poland, I’m sure you still remember the situation when you left the United States, right? Do you still remember why we let you off the hook back then?”
“Of course I remember,” Emily’s lips curled into a cold smile, “Thank you for letting me go back then, Madam Deborah. Otherwise, I’m afraid that I’m already in jail.”
Deborah didn’t seem to hear the sarcasm in Emily’s words and continued, “I know that you are angry with me, but I don’t care. I don’t regret what I did to you at that time. After all, if a vicious woman like you marry into our house, the Floyd family will be in a mess!”
“You’re right, madam. I am vicious and evil, and I know very well about it too. Congratulations for having a kind and wonderful daughter-in-law, Madam Deborah.”
Deborah’s face became very pale after hearing Emily’s words. Twenty years ago, Emily had knelt down in front of her and begged her to agree to her marriage with Callum. However, Emily had changed, she wasn’t the Emily she used to be twenty years ago, she wouldn’t compromise with anyone anymore.
Then, Deborah sneered and said, “It’s good that you know your place. The reason I want to meet you today is because of Callum and Angel. Angel belongs to our family, and she had no idea about you and Callum’s past, so I don’t want you to be acquainted with each other…”
Before Deborah could finish her words, Emily interrupted her, “Why would I do that? There’s nothing wrong with my brain, so why would I want to recognize her? No matter how shameless I am, I won’t repeat the same mistake again after I’ve suffered so much. Listen, I have no interest in Callum, I also have no interest in your family business! Maybe some other people are interested in your family but for me, it is a lifetime nightmare. I don’t want ever want to see all of you again and when I see any of you, I will avoid you all at all cost!”
“Wow, very good! I hope you can do as you say!”
“Don’t worry, I will do as promised since I’m a person who keeps my words! I don’t have any bad intentions toward your family and I have no interest in your family too! Since you came to me, I will also make myself clear. Please keep an eye on your son and don’t let him appear in front of me again. It’s not only you who hates seeing Callum meeting me, I felt sick when I see him too. After all, he’s a married man, and no matter how, I will never go back to him!”
Emily’s words were very heavy and Deborah was so angry that her face turned red, “Well, remember what you said today! If I know that you go near Callum and Angel again, don’t blame me for what I did later!”
“Don’t worry, none of that will happen. I swear on my life that if I, Emily Poland, go near Callum and Angel, I will die a terrible death!”
After swearing, Emily stood up and said, “I’ve said everything I needed to say. Madam, is there anything else you want to tell me? If not, I’ll have to leave first!”
Emily left straightaway after saying that. Deborah stared at her angrily as she left. When Emily was out of the door, she heard a loud crash from inside. Inside the room, Deborah had thrown all the teacups to the floor.
