William tried to change Gavin’s mind despite knowing how excited he was. “You won’t miss out on anything. I’ll call you immediately when we receive the test result.”
“It’s fine, I shall tag along since I’m free, anyway. You don’t even have to spend the effort in calling me.” Hayden still insisted on going to the hospital with them.
William took a peek at Valeria in hopes to see her reaction. She was comfortable with Hayden’s idea and said, “Dad, you are welcome to join us as you wish. We can eat out after obtaining the result from the doctor. There’s a steamed bun shop near the hospital and you’ll definitely like it!”
“Valeria, you’re the best! You even know taste palette so well!” Hayden then instructed the servant in an uplifting tone, “There’s no need to prepare breakfast for tomorrow. We will be paying a visit to the hospital and eat out after that.”
The schedule was being planned ahead of time. A luxurious car drove out of the Howard Family’s old estate the following day. Valeria was seated beside William and was busy with her phone. Hayden sat opposite with a worried expression on his face upon noticing that Valeria kept staring at her phone. He then instructed Lucas, “Do shop around for anti-radiation jackets as we need a few of them.”
Lucas nodded. Valeria did not hear Hayden’s words as she was too preoccupied with her phone. William realized it and took the phone away from her. “Valeria, it’s time to put your phone away. It’s not good for your health to use your phone excessively!”
“I’m just reverting a text message that I have received from someone else. Dad, William is obstructing my freedom and being unreasonable!” Valeria immediately complained.
“Valeria is using the phone for official matters. Why are you being such a busybody?” Hayden was initially worried that the radiation would to Valeria as she was currently pregnant. However, he changed his mind and sided with her when she whined like a spoiled child.
William shook his head as he did not expect his father to be biased towards Valeria. She then quickly got her phone back from him. She wanted to continue scrolling social media but suddenly received a text message.
Arthur had sent her a long message. Valeria burst into laughter upon having a read at it.
“Oh My God! This is so hilarious! Raelyn must be pissed off yesterday!”
Both Hayden and William were staring at her with confused looks on their faces. She then told them how Raelyn had to return back the sixty million worth of funds that she had swindled from Gavin. They found it funny and also started giggling.
“Your grandfather must have been very mad at her yesterday, right?”
“Of course. Arthur told me that my grandfather was so angry that he had to take an express calming medication to make him feel better. By the way, Talitha is the whistleblower about this matter. Is she out of her mind? Why would she turn her back against her mother?”
William immediately recalled something and said, “Raymond must be the one behind it.”
“What? Since when is he that smart?” Valeria was feeling very skeptical about it.
William chuckled and replied, “Valeria, people will change and Raymond is actually a quick-witted person. You are not aware of it as he has been spoiled since young and is a soft-hearted person. It would be a piece of cake should he set his mind up to get rid of Talitha and the others.”
“Pfft! I’m still not convinced by your words. He can’t do anything right!”
Valeria clearly did not take Raymond’s capability seriously. William then said, “We shall sit back and enjoy the show. Raymond is definitely an element of surprise!”
Hayden agreed with his son and said, “It’s a drawback for him to be a kind and compassionate person. However, he is undoubtedly very intelligent and talented.”
The three of them chatted along without realizing that they have arrived at their desired destination. They then got down from the vehicle and headed towards the hospital entrance. Valeria raised her voice in surprise after walking for a few steps, “Isn’t that Mr. Gurney? Why is he here?”
Thomas was seen to hop down from his car with many things in his hand. He noticed the familiar faces and immediately greeted them with a smile, “Mr. Howard, hello there! Valeria and William, good morning!”
William had never been a fan of Thomas but today was an exception. Emily was met with a car accident and was being hospitalized yesterday. William knew that Thomas had spent the night here to take care of her.
He was very confused about the relationship between Thomas and Emily. Why were they so close to each other? Something fishy must be going on as they had no connection at all.
Valeria was not aware that Thomas came here to pay Emily a visit. She then asked Thomas with a confused look on her face, “Mr. Gurney, do you happen to have an appointment with the doctor today?”
“Nope. I came here to visit a friend of mine who was been hospitalized,” Thomas gave a general answer as he did not want to tell them the truth.
Valeria did not think twice upon seeing him with many items on his hand. She smiled and said, “I’m here for a scheduled checkup today. Mr. Gurney, I’ll talk to you soon! Goodbye!”
Thomas smiled and bid goodbye to them. He carried the necessary items and headed towards Emily’s ward. She was surprised by his visit and said, “Thomas, didn’t I tell you to head back home right now? Why are you still here?”
“I’m worried about leaving you alone. I bought you some food and beverages. By the way, I also hired a caretaker to keep an eye on you and she would be here real soon.”
“There’s no need for such a hassle as I’m feeling fine.”
“But I don’t feel the same. Emily, you have to follow what I say and remain hospitalized, okay? I will give you the cold treatment should you get discharged without my permission!”
Emily had no choice but to give way upon seeing his stern look. She promised, “Okay, I shall take your advice and continue resting here for two more days.”
“That’s great to hear. By the way, I don’t wish to see you meddle into Azalea’s matters. Both she and her mother have ulterior motives in their mind. They are so focused on ripping people off and don’t even feel guilty about it. It’s best for you to keep a distance from them in the future.”
Emily smiled helplessly upon seeing the displeased look on his face. “Thomas, I know Azalea has some bad habits that should be changed, but… but we are a family. I can’t turn a blind eye on her.”
“What are you talking about? Why would you complicate your life when she is not even your daughter? Have you forgotten what they have done to you? Emily, you will eventually be left with nothing if you continue to let them take advantage of you!”
Emily remained silent as she knew that Thomas had a good point. She knew that both Madelyn and Azalea were eyeing her wealth. However, she couldn’t give up and cut ties with her daughter!
Emily suppressed her emotions and smiled forcefully, “Alright, I will have a good think about your advice. You should leave now as it’s getting late. Quick!”
“It’s fine, I’m still on schedule.” Thomas advised her a few more matters and was finally about to leave. Footsteps were suddenly heard outside the ward and it stopped at the door.
Arthur pushed the door open with fruits and consumables in his hand. He greeted, “Miss Poland, good morning!”
Emily was briefly stunned upon his arrival. She smiled and replied back, “Hello!”
Arthur placed the things that he brought over on the tea table. He asked politely, “How are you feeling today?”
“I’m good. Thank you for paying me a visit.” They then continued to exchange friendly conversation. Arthur finally noticed a man that was also visiting Emily. Arthur was taken aback upon seeing Thomas for the first time and asked, “Who… who are you?”
