The car door behind her was being opened shortly. Arthur hurriedly got out of his vehicle to have a look at the situation. He immediately called for an ambulance as Emily had passed out due to the impact. She was then being sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Arthur also hopped into the ambulance as his forehead was bleeding due to the accident.
Gavin called him when he was on his way towards the hospital. “Where are you? Why aren’t you back yet?”
“I’m currently on my way to the hospital as something urgent has come up.”
“What happened?” Gavin asked while feeling shocked.
“I was met with a car accident. Don’t worry as it’s just a minor injury.”
“Alright. I’ll be right there.” Gavin decided to head towards the hospital as he was worried about Arthur.
Arthur reminded him once again that he was genuinely feeling fine. However, Gavin insisted on coming over as he was very concerned about him. Arthur eventually gave up seeing how persistent Gavin was.
Emily was immediately being sent to the emergency department upon arriving at the hospital. On the other hand, Arthur was being arranged to the medical department to treat his wound.
Gavin reached shortly alongside his bodyguards as soon as Arthur was done being treated. He breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Arthur’s condition, “I’m so glad that you’re alright! I was so worried about you during my way here.”
“I kept telling you that I’m doing fine but you did not believe me at all,” Arthur replied helplessly.
“Who is the other party that got involved? What is the current situation?” Gavin questioned further.
“She had passed out due to the accident and is still under emergency treatment. I am on my way to find out about the latest updates,” Arthur replied.
“Let me go with you then.” Gavin and Arthur headed towards the emergency room with the accompaniment of the bodyguards. It was observed that Emily was also done being treated. She had suffered from a mild concussion and needed to be hospitalized for further observation.
Emily wanted to disregard the doctor’s advice as she was worried sick of Azalea. Her mobile phone was not with her and she did not know the latest updates about Azalea. She wanted to leave the hospital and head back to Misurton right now.
Gavin and Arthur came over to have a look at Emily’s condition. Gavin was taken aback upon seeing her for the first time.
His eyes fixated on Emily for quite a while. Wasn’t this what his late wife exactly looked like when she was young?
Arthur only managed to look closely at Emily as the situation just now was rather intense. He was stunned as she looked like Gavin’s wife who had passed away years ago.
Emily did not know what was going through their minds and broke the ice, “It’s my fault for stepping onto the emergency brake all of a sudden. I would bear the consequences and will provide you with my contact number. Feel free to call me about the compensation matter.”
Emily was dressed casually and Arthur finally came back to his senses. “Well… Do you happen to know how much is my car’s maintenance expenses then?”
Emily had no idea and replied, “Forgive me as I am not aware of it. May I know how much do I need to pay you?”
“Both the front light and the car’s bonnet are broken. My vehicle needed to be repaired overseas as the spare parts could not be obtained in the country. I think the fee is around a million.”
“That is quite expensive.” Emily was stunned as she did not know that she had damaged a luxurious car.
She had been working as a translator for many years and the pay was relatively handsome. However, she did not save much as Madelyn often asked for money to doll Azalea up. She drove an ordinary car that cost about a hundred thousand and she did not subscribe to a premium insurance package. The compensation fee would be a huge burden for her if that turned out to be the case.
Emily was worried about the maintenance expense as well as Azalea’s wellbeing. She remained silent for a moment before asking Arthur, “Could you please lend me your phone for a moment?”
“Sure.” Arthur replied and handed his phone to Emily.
She immediately gave Madelyn a call. It was swiftly connected with the sound of Madelyn’s sob, “Emily, why didn’t you answer the phone just now? Do you have any idea what Azalea attempted to do? She wanted to hang herself but I managed to save her just in time!”
Emily gasped as she did not expect Azalea to do such a silly act. She was grateful that Madelyn had fortunately saved her from tragedy. However, she still felt unease upon thinking about the eerie situation.
Her legs were a little weak due to the severe injury and the shocking news of Azalea. She sat back and Gavin immediately reached out to support her.
Emily thanked him in a soft voice whereas Madelyn still continued to exaggerate things further, “She has not awakened as she was under a tremendous amount of shock. Emily, what should we do now? Shall I take her to the hospital? I will go bonkers if something bad happens to her! She needs to wake up…”
A trace of scornfulness had flashed across Gavin’s face upon overhearing about Madelyn’s endless chatter. The woman on the phone was clearly having bad intentions in her mind.
Her family member attempted to commit suicide but was not being sent to the hospital. The woman had instead called Emily to ask for her opinion and she was clearly just faking it. He then realized the worried look on Emily’s face.
He could no longer stand the b*llshit and immediately grabbed the phone away from Emily. “Hello there, sorry for intterupting! This family member of yours had just been involved in a car accident and has a serious concussion. She just awakened after being treated at the emergency department. It would be better to not upset her further.”
“What? She was met with an accident just now? How could it happen in such perfect timing?” Madelyn was not convinced and was suspecting Emily to stage it. Gavin knew that she did not believe him and immediately continued, “She had damaged my car and the repair expense is about a million. You do happen to be her relative, right? Do help her to collect some funds as compensation for my car…”
“Erm… Emily, it’s better for you to settle the accident first. I’ll take care of Azalea for the time being. Talk to you soon.”
Madelyn swiftly ended the call. Emily glanced at Gavin with a confused look on her face. He helped her up and said, “I did it on purpose as your relative seems to have ulterior motives on you. It’s better for you to get hospitalized for a few days. You need not worry as the compensation fee is negotiable.”
Emily was not a foolish person and knew that something fishy was going on judging by Madelyn’s behavior. She lent Arthur’s phone once again and called Thomas as she was still feeling uneasy about it. “Thomas, something urgent has come up in B City. Can you please do me a favor and check on Azalea? I received news from Madelyn that Azalea had tried to commit suicide just now. I’m very worried about her wellbeing.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there.” Thomas then asked, “Emily, you don’t sound good. Are you alright?”
Yes, I’m fine. Do pay Azalea a visit right now and let me know how it goes.”
Emily ended the call and was shortly being arranged to rest at one of the hospital wards. She laid down on the bed and realized that her whole body was in pain. Her head was spinning around as well. The doctor gave her an IV drip and she shortly drifted into dreamland.
Gavin exited the ward upon realizing that she had fallen asleep. Both Arthur and him eventually left the hospital. Arthur then asked on their way back home, “Mr. Saunders, don’t you think that she looks very alike with Mrs. Saunders?”
“Yes, especially when she smiles.” Gavin thought for a moment and had a good impression of Emily. “She looks pitiful but seems like a kind person. We shall let things slide if she can’t afford to pay us back.”
Thomas immediately rushed towards Emily’s house upon receiving her call. He knew her house’s password and did not knock upon arriving. He entered and overhead that Madelyn and Azalea were complaining to each other. “She was met with a car accident? I am not convinced as I suspect that she is just lying to us.”
“You’re right! Mummy, why don’t you try calling her once again?”
Madelyn dialed her sister’s phone number but it did not get through. “She must be staging it since she did not answer my call. How dare she!”
Thomas stood at the entrance and stared at both of them. He sneered and spoke, “Didn’t you attempt to take away your own life? Well, you seem to be doing fine.”
