In the hospital ward, Gavin leaned against the bedframe and felt a little regretful.
He finally calmed down and realized that he had acted rashly just now.
Raelyn deserved to be scolded and chased out from the hospital ward. However, why was Valeria being dragged into this mess as well?
Valeria just wanted to give him a word of precaution and was currently pregnant. She must be upset to be wrongly accused in this matter.
Gavin felt uneasy but was too arrogant in apologizing to Valeria first.
Gavin did not move an inch despite hearing his phone ringing. Arthur, who was standing beside him, picked the phone up and glanced at the screen. “Mr. Saunders! The call is from Mr. Howard.”
“I’m not in the mood to answer his phone!” Gavin swiftly refused.
Hayden had stopped calling him a long time ago. It was not a good sign for Hayden to call him out of the blue.
Gavin did not forget that he had ruined Valeria’s mood just now. Hayden was undoubtedly calling him to back Valeria up.
Arthur listened to Gavin and left the phone ringing. The phone rang continuously and Hayden was clearly spamming to get ahold of him. Arthur was feeling troubled and asked, “How about I answer it on behalf of you?”
Gavin agreed with his idea. Arthur answered the phone and greeted politely, “Mr. Howard, how do you do?”
“What do you think? Where is Mont? I need to speak with him!” Hayden raised his voice.
“Mr. Howard is currently resting. I can pass the word on to him later.” Arthur was quick-witted and knew that Hayden was up to no good.
“What? Take a look at the time now. I’m not convinced that he is genuinely resting. Is he planning to pass out once again?” Hayden grinned coldly.
“Mr. Howard, of course not!”
“Haha. Mont refuses to speak with me as he must have something to hide, right? Serves him right! Mont, you are clearly not as sharp as old times. You are fooled by Raelyn but chose to vent your anger on Valeria instead. Aren’t you aware that she is currently pregnant?”
Hayden knew that Gavin did not have the guts to answer the phone call. He raised his voice and started cussing as he knew that Gavin was right beside Arthur.
“How dare you scold Valeria to seek justice for a piece of unworthy s*it? Is the Howard family an easy target for you? Valeria is my daughter-in-law and deserved to be loved instead of getting bullied! Arthur, do tell that old b*stard I’m giving him a warning this time. I will decide to let bygones be bygones if nothing bad happens to Valeria. However, he will be in trouble if Valeria gets depressed because of this!”
Arthur sensed that Hayden was enraged and tried to ease the tension, “Erm, how is Mrs. Howard feeling?”
“What do you think? That poor little girl has cried her lungs out!” Hayden snapped back.
“My daughter-in-law has exposed Raelyn’s ulterior motive to serve as a reminder for Mont. What on earth was that old b*stard thinking by putting the blame on Valeria? How dare he accused Valeria of eyeing his fortune? Does he really think that she would be so interested in his petty money? That’s outright ridiculous! Who the h*ll does he think he is? I will not let things slide and he must apologize to her in a sincere manner. Otherwise, Valeria will not talk to him ever again!”
Gavin was furious at Hayden for cussing him out repetitively. However, there was nothing that he could do about it.
He was aware of Hayden’s attitude who was very protective of his close ones. Hayden would get ahold of him at the hospital right now if Gavin managed to get on his nerves. That would be a mess!
Gavin was aware that he was clearly in the wrong after all.
Hayden cursed for more than ten minutes before eventually ending the phone call.
Valeria stared at Hayden with a dumbfounded expression on her face. The upset feeling was currently being replaced by the awe of Hayden’s burst of energy.
William then poured Hayden a cup of tea with a smile. “Dad, do have a cup of tea to freshen up!”
Hayden took the teacup and had a few sips of tea. “He is clearly feeling guilty as he did not have the guts to speak with me. He is increasingly dull and foolish as the days go by. Pfft! That old b*stard!”
Hayden then glanced at Valeria and said, “Tell me right away if anyone has the guts to bully you. I will definitely back you up!”
Valeria felt much better as Hayden was very supportive of her. “Dad, thank you so much!”
“Don’t mention it as we are a family. You must be starving, right? Come on and let’s have dinner now. I’ve told the servant to prepare dishes that you love. I hope that you would enjoy it!”
The servant had prepared a feast for dinner. There were hot and spicy lobster, black pepper mushroom, braised eel, and stewed chicken soup.
Valeria had forgotten about the depressing matter upon seeing the mouthwatering dishes. She immediately began to enjoy her dinner.
Hayden ate while praising the servant’s efforts. He smiled and said, “The servant’s culinary skills and the freshness of the ingredients are key to a good dish. Come to think of it, Thomas is indeed a thoughtful person. I would welcome him with open arms if he happens to visit us during his free time.”
William glanced at Hayden and asked, “These are all from Thomas?”
“Yes, you heard me right. He has given some local specialities to Valeria just now.”
William had lost his appetite upon hearing about it. He frowned and put down his chopsticks before getting up from his seat. Hayden was taken aback and asked, “Where are you going?”
“I’m not a fan of these. Do continue with your meal as I shall head out for a bit.”
Valeria told Hayden upon seeing William leaving the dining table, “Dad, my husband is upset.”
“I can see that too. This br*t is indeed petty!” Hayden shook his head.
“I would definitely receive a lecture from him later.”
“You need not worry about it. He would not dare to lay a finger on you as I shall be your rock!” Hayden served more food for Valeria and continued, “Do have more of it, and don’t even bother about William.”
William left the dining area and went to look for Bobby. “What happened today?”
Bobby brushed his head and said, “Mr. Howard, I have totally forgotten to tell you about this. Mrs. Howard had brought your father to meet with Thomas and Miss Clark. The four of them had lunch together. I did not think of telling you this as I assume that it was just an ordinary meal. Besides, your father had tagged along as well.”
William was feeling pissed off upon hearing about it. Valeria used Hayden as her triumph card just to meet with Thomas. How dare she!
She clearly did not consider William’s feelings at all. He had the urge to pick a fight with Valeria but resisted himself as she was currently pregnant.
William suppressed his anger and walked out with a blank expression on his face. Bobby followed him and asked, “Mr. Howard, where are you going?”
“I’m heading out for dinner,” William replied in a sulky tone.
“Dinner is currently being served at home, isn’t it?”
“That entire table of dishes is from Thomas. I have no appetite!” William raised his voice.
Bobby brushed his head and followed behind William. “Mr. Howard, it’s not good to leave home just like this. Won’t Mrs. Howard be upset at you for leaving without giving her a heads up?”
“What right does she have to be mad at me?” William opened the door and continued in a displeased tone, “I am the one who should be pissed at her instead!”
Bobby ignited the car engine and left the old estate. Valeria panicked upon hearing the roar of the vehicle and said, “Dad, my husband left home and is clearly mad at me. What should I do now?”
“That piece of s*it!” Hayden shook his head and picked up his phone to call William. “William, get your a*s back here! I need to have a word with you!”
“I’m busy at the moment. Let’s talk about it some other time.” William outright refused him and continued, “I have to pick up grandpa and grandma after dinner. I won’t be back tonight!”
“You b*stard! What a pain in the a*s!” Hayden hung up the phone and glanced at Valeria. “It’s alright and just leave him alone. I am confident that he does not have the heart to abandon his wife and children!”
