Valeria mumbled but William immediately turned to look at her upon hearing Thomas’ name. “What did you just say?”
“It’s nothing!” Valeria swiftly continued, “I’m saying that Raymond is much worse than Andrew.”
“I also heard that you would want to have a different brother. Who is it?” William questioned.
“Did I? Honey, I think you have heard it wrongly,” Valeria did not admit it.
“Haha!” William sneered. Valeria playfully stuck her tongue out before continuing to consume the milk. William then picked up his phone to make a call.
Valeria received a text notification as soon as she finished drinking the milk. She picked the phone up and realized that Thomas had texted her.
“Valeria, I remember that you told me about having a thing for lobsters. How about I bring some over for you?”
“Thank you for your kindness. But I shall give it a pass,” Valeria immediately refused.
“It’s not your normal giant lobster but instead a tiny kind from the countryside. These would be so good by cooking them in a hot and spicy sauce. Oh, I almost forgot about something. I have also bought some wild eel, as well as old hens and fresh mushrooms. You can have a taste of them as they are really good!”
Valeria did not expect Thomas to remember everything that she had said that day. She was feeling touched and replied back, “Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it but there is really no need to make such a hassle!”
“Don’t worry as it’s just a piece of cake. I would happen to be there for some official matters and can bring it over for you.”
Thomas was very persistent and Valeria would feel bad if she reject his offer. She secretly took a peek at William after reading the text from Thomas. She was confident that William would be pissed upon knowing that Thomas intended to send over some food for her.
However, she did not have the heart to refuse his kindness. What should she do now?
She was feeling troubled and they eventually arrived at the hospital. William got off the car and led Valeria to the hospital ward where her grandfather was at.
Gavin had finally awakened but was still feeling moody. The doctor was doing a comprehensive examination of him.
Archer was outside the examination room while making a phone call and was being accompanied by Arthur. He hung up the phone upon seeing William and Valeria, “You guys are finally here!”
“How’s grandpa now? Is he alright?”
“I have told the doctor to give your grandpa an extensive body checkup. He is still in the midst of the examination inside the room,” Archer frowned and had a sullen expression on his face.
“I had a long day yesterday and went back home late to call it a day. However, I found him sitting in the living room with a sulky look when I woke up in the morning just now. I then went over to have a chat with him. He unexpectedly accused me of plotting against Raelyn and her entire family. I got mad and we ended up in a heated discussion before things got ugly!”
William said apologetically upon seeing the depressed look on Archer’s face, “It’s all my fault. I’m sorry to drag you into this mess.”
Archer had finally read the news about Talitha and Natasya fighting over each other for the sake of Hardy. Arthur had also told him about Raelyn bombarding messages to Gavin in hopes to take pity on her. Archer managed to roughly figure out what was the full story behind the entire mess.
“It’s fine since things have already turned out this way. We are in the same team and it doesn’t matter who takes the blame. Now it all boils down to my father. There is nothing that we can do if he still insists to protect Raelyn from the mess that she had made.”
“We can always sort things out later as there may be some miscommunication,” William tried to ease the tension.
Valeria chimed in with a stern tone, “Where on earth is Raymond? How dare he not show up when he had caused such a mess!”
“What does this have to do with Raymond?” Archer stared at Valeria with a confused look on his face.
“William had framed Talitha, Natasya, and Hardy. They have finally gotten a taste of their own medicine. However, Raymond, that idiot, decided to join them as well. No one would know that William was the mastermind behind this if it wasn’t because of Raymond! Raelyn would then not seek for grandpa to side with her. Hence, this is all his fault. Don’t you guys agree with me?”
Valeria was mad and Raymond coincidentally emerged from the end of the corridor. He woke up from bed and immediately rushed over to the hospital upon receiving news that Gavin had fainted. He was stunned upon hearing Valeria’s words and said, “But… I… I didn’t mean to.”
He genuinely did not do it on purpose as he initially just wanted to vent his anger out. He did not expect things to take a sudden turn.
He would have avoided getting into trouble if he knew that the Anderson family was already suspecting him from the very beginning. However, it was now too late for him to regret his choice.
Raymond was dead drunk last night and could only manage to remember some bits and pieces of last night. Gavin was waiting for him outside of the house. He then asked Raymond a series of questions but he had no memories of it.
Raymond slapped himself on the head and admitted, “I had too much to drink last night. Grandpa waited for me at home and asked me something. I then spew nonsense as I could not think straight. I’m so sorry!”
William let out a giggle upon seeing Raymond in a miserable state. He tried to brighten up the mood, “Alright, it’s fine. Let’s not point fingers at each other and we shall now wait for grandpa’s result.”
Archer chimed in and agreed, “William has a point. It’s useless to feel regretful since things have already turned out this way. Let’s wait patiently for now.”
The group waited outside of the examination room for a while. Gavin had eventually completed the tests and came out of the room. His eyes were shut with a face that was as pale as a ghost.
The doctor told them that Gavin had passed out due to hypertension just now. He needed to be sent into the hospital ward for further observation.
Gavin finally settled down at the ward and everyone else followed him in. The doctor then gave him an IV drip and placed him in a resting position. He was already awake but remained his eyes closed as a sign of rebellion.
Valeria walked towards the bed and asked, “Grandpa, are you feeling much better? Are you hungry? I can satisfy any cravings that you have as long as you tell me about it.”
Gavin remained silent and Raymond came forward to try his luck. “Grandpa, please forgive me for spewing nonsense as I was drunk last night. I am aware that you are feeling troubled by the scandal that broke out. I shall come clean to you as I am the one who plotted against the Anderson sisters. You can vent your anger out on me as long as you please.”
Gavin still did not speak and everyone stared at each other in hopes to come up with something. Natalie then came in with breakfast in her hand and said, “Father, I have made some millet porridge for you.”
“Do give it to me,” Archer took it over from her and walked towards Gavin. “Dad, please have some porridge.”
Gavin got upset upon hearing Archer’s voice. He instantly opened his eyes and sneered, “President Saunders, I wouldn’t dare to bother you on such petty matters!”
Gavin was evidently still mad at Archer seeing how he addressed Archer by his honourary title.
“Let me do it instead,” William suggested and took the porridge over from Archer. He tried to feed Gavin, “Grandpa, please have some porridge.”
Gavin could not simply talk back to William as he was not his son. He remained silent while William tested out the temperature to ensure the porridge was not too hot. However, Gavin was being stubborn and did not open his mouth to consume the porridge.
William was aware that Gavin was still angry and said, “Grandpa, please have some porridge to fill you up. How can you have the energy to give us an earful without having anything? I shall come clean to you as I am the one who is the mastermind behind this mess. You can scold me as you please after consuming this bowl of porridge. I promise to stay still and I won’t fight back!”
William was being very polite to ease the tension in the room. Gavin decided to be the bigger person and began to consume the porridge.
William happily fed him the portion of food. Valeria paced forward and wiped the corners of Gavin’s mouth with a piece of tissue. She offered, “Grandpa, I won’t go anywhere today. I’ll stay here to accompany you instead.”
Gavin was feeling much better upon hearing Valeria’s suggestion. He said in a hoarse voice, “It’s not good to stand too long as you are currently pregnant. Do have a seat beside me.”
