Chapter 787 None Of Their Business

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Jaxon sent a message to William at twelve during midnight. “Sir, when I was carrying out the instruction from you to obtain Angel’s DNA, I have heard from her colleague that she would be back in the country soon. However, be rest assured that Angel’s DNA sample is with me now. Do I still need to send it over then?”
William was stunned upon reading the text and wondered why would Angel come back all of a sudden. He was not convinced that she would be back alone but had speculated her to tag along with the other Floyd family members.
He needed to figure out what exactly was going on. He then retracted his hand which was below Valeria’s head and went to the study room.
William shut the door and gave Jaxon a call. He asked upon the phone being answered, “What is going on? Why would Angel intend to come here?”
“She would not be returning alone based on what her colleague had told me just now. Fandrey, Deborah, and Callum would be heading back as well with the excuse of company inspection at Misurton. However, Angel had told her colleague with an arrogant attitude that their return is to break you and Valeria off! Your grandparents are dissatisfied with your marriage and this is their main reason for heading back to the country.”
Jaxon was being honest whereas William was furious upon hearing about it. “They are not a fan of Valeria? Who gave them the right to dislike her? It is much more important if I am in love with Valeria and no one gets to say otherwise!”
“You’re absolutely right, but they are the elderly in the family. They might talk ill to Valeria and give her a hard time. However, I don’t think you can do anything about it as you might need to respect them as your grandparents,” Jaxon reminded him.
“I know, but they don’t stand a chance to humiliate Valeria. My wife is currently pregnant and had gone through so much for me last time. I will fail as a husband if she gets bullied when expecting my children, don’t you think?”
William would not back down if someone got onto his nerve and Jaxon was well aware of it. Jaxon was slightly worried that William would be on bad terms with the Floyd family because of Valeria. He asked cautiously, “Sir William, do you have a plan in mind?”
“I don’t plan to do anything. Valeria is part of the Howards family and absolutely no one can come between us. William kept his cool and continued, “It’s fine if they intend to pay me a visit. I will provide them with the best hospitality but they are not allowed to interfere with other matters!”
“What if they make a move against Valeria behind your back?” Jaxon was still feeling concerned.
“Don’t worry about it. Valeria is bearing my children and to what extent can they bring harm to her? My grandparents are not cold-blooded human beings and would not take things too far. They might say something rude just to make Valeria feel bad about herself. However, they stand zero chance as I would not leave Valeria alone by a single inch.”
Jaxon stopped persuading as William was very protective of her. He then asked, “Do I need to send Angel’s DNA specimen over?”
“Nope! I can arrange for someone to get ahold of her DNA since she would be back soon.”
William chatted with Jaxon for a while before ending the call. He was not tired at all despite it was getting late at night. He then sat down at the study table and opened his file to have a look at some documents.
Valeria’s voice emerged outside of the study room, “Honey! Darling!”
William quickly got up and opened the door for her. Valeria was at the bedroom door with her pajamas on. He went over and reached out to hold her, “Why are you up?”
“I was forced to wake up because I wanted to pee so badly. However, I came out because I do not feel at ease without your presence.” William burst into laughter upon hearing about her mandatory bathroom visit.
Valeria peed more frequently at night ever since got pregnant. William asked her with a smile, “Have you gone to the bathroom then?”
“Of course! It feels so good after emptying up my tank! Honey, I would get up and go to the bathroom every night. Do you think that there is something wrong with my kidney?” Valeria asked sulkily as she was feeling distressed. She needed to make several visits to the bathroom every night ever since she was three months pregnant.
“Nope, your body is doing fine. I have enquired the doctor about it and he told me that the culprit is the two babies inside you. I will punish them when they come out from your belly sooner or later! But right now, I would want to accompany you back to bed.”
“Okay.” William held Valeria’s hand and they made their way to the bedroom. She got into bed and rested in William’s arm. She could not help but ask, “Honey, why aren’t you asleep yet, and what were you doing at the study room just now?”
“I called Jaxon upon receiving a message from him.”
“Did something happen?” Valeria asked with a worried look on her face.
William knew that it was unwise to hide things from Valeria as she would know about it sooner or later. He hoped to mentally prepare her and said, “It’s nothing big. I was being told that my grandparents and my uncle would return back to the country soon.”
“Really? I can finally thank them in person! I am really grateful for them to rescue and take good care of you last time,” Valeria did not think much about it.
She had thought things too simplistic when Fandrey and Deborah were instead planning to give her a hard time. William was out of words upon glancing at his silly and naive wife.
He was feeling fortunate to be blessed with his quick-wittiness. Otherwise, it would be hell for both him and Valeria.
William held her in his arms and said, “Let’s talk about it some other time. We shall head back to sleep now!”
“Alright!” Valeria hugged him and embraced his warmness. She then drifted into dreamland after a while.
William smiled upon seeing her sleeping soundly and finally closed his eyes to call it a day.
It was the next morning in the Anthony family.
Hardy and Paisley were having breakfast at the dining table. Talitha gave him a call and said, “Hardy, I have a scheduled check-up today. Would you like to accompany me?”
“Of course!” Hardy replied in a gentle tone.
“Okay. Do pick me up after having your breakfast and I will be waiting for you.”
Paisley glanced at Hardy after the phone call had ended and asked, “Hardy, are you really intending to accompany Talitha for her checkup session?”
“Yes, but I would also want to pay Natasya a visit. I doubt that she has not come up with something yet when she clearly told me about her intention of marrying me yesterday. I shall head over to spice things up.”
“Hardy, how are your current feelings towards them? Is it still very complex?”
“Yes. I can’t control myself whenever they are within my vision. However, I would behave normally without their presence,” Hardy rubbed his forehead and continued, “I’m not sure whether this condition would remain or worsen over time. Things would be much easier for me if it is the former option. If my train of thoughts would not be interrupted due to their absence, I will then be able to come up with a way to get rid of those two bitches.”
“You’re right, let’s pray that this vermin would not take you away. I am also hoping that we can get ahold of the antidote as soon as possible,” Paisley sighed as she had lost her appetite to enjoy her breakfast. She then took her phone out and dialed the number to enquire about the updates of the antidote.
Hardy went upstairs for a few minutes to change into a decent outfit. He then went downstairs and left home to pick up Talitha who was waiting for him at the hotel.
