Azalea breathed a sigh of relief after making her way out of Wolf Group. She swiftly called Meadow and said, “Mrs. Davis, everything has been settled!”
“Did Valeria give you a hard time?” Meadow was feeling concerned.
“Of course! She admitted that this was payback for messing with Abbie and even told me to leave my sister alone. I’m so pissed off!” Azalea continued angrily, “She is just a lucky woman who happened to be born in a wealthy family, and how petty of her to be such a bully. Pfft! I am doubtful that her life would be forever smooth sailing!”
Azalea was very furious upon mentioning Valeria. Meadow was on Azalea’s team and comforted, “Azalea, you have gone through so much! I’m really sorry that I could not be of much help to you.”
“Mrs. Davis, you need not feel guilty about it. I am upset because both Valeria and Abbie had crossed the line! I can always hold my head high if I have a competent father like Archer!”
Meadow came up with an idea upon hearing her dissatisfaction and said, “Azalea, you should tell your aunt about everything that happened just now.”
“Really? You think so?” Azalea asked. Emily treated her well but was also a strict person. Azalea was not a fan of discussing such sensitive topics with Emily as she was afraid to receive an earful from her.
“Of course you should. Think about it, your aunt was the one who got you out of trouble. It is rational for you to come clean to her. She is a capable woman and she can always be your safety net in the future, right?”
Meadow continued to persuade her, “You can tell your aunt how miserable you were at the dinner just now. Valeria has humiliated you in public and no one took pity on you. You would not have been bullied like this if you have an influential father like Archer!”
“Are you sure? My aunt would not like this and she would definitely tell me off!” Azalea was really afraid of Emily.
“You can always trust me. What good would I get by deceiving you? I’ve advised you to seek your aunt’s help regarding the boycott issue and it’s now been settled, right? You will definitely gain something good if you trust me once again. Your aunt had the capability to seek Rammos’ help and I’m sure that she can help you out even more, don’t you think?”
Azalea’s eyes lit up and were convinced that this was a piece of a good idea. She agreed, “Okay, that sounds good. I shall give my aunt a call right now!”
Meadow reminded her once again, “Azalea, remember to be as fragile as you can when talking with your aunt later. You’re an actress, right? Give it your best shot and cry your lungs out!”
In Misurton, Emily turned off the TV and wanted to call it a day. She received a phone call from Azalea just when she was about to return back to her room. She answered the call and Azalea’s fragile voice came through, “Aunt Emily, I have apologized to Valeria just now.”
“I see. Did everything go well?” Emily asked.
“Of course not. You have no idea what a rough night it has been for me… Valeria was giving me a hard time and I needed to supress my emotion just to satisfy her!” Azalea sobbed as she spoke.
Emily sighed and said, “Azalea, you have to know your place. I had opposed the idea of you being a celebrity and just take on a normal career. However, you ignored my advice and I really can’t do much for you. It’s your choice and you have to bear the consequences.”
“You’re right, I need to strive through hardship but I’m feeling really down right now. Aunt Emily, why was I born in such an ordinary family? Everything would be different if I was lucky enough to be born with a silver spoon in my mouth like Valeria and have an influential father like Archer.”
Emily froze on the other end and her face turned as pale as a ghost. Azalea continued while sobbing, “Aunt Emily, I know you hate to hear this and would definitely give me an earful! You would definitely assume that I am a materialistic and ill-mannered girl. However, I am really left with no choice now.”
“I joined the entertainment industry in hopes to earn more money. I just wanted to give you and my parents a better life and all of you have always been my pillar of strength. I really did not expect things to be so difficult here! I have regretted my choice but there is no turning back now. I need to make it till the end!”
Emily felt sad and said, “Azalea, I’m so sorry! It’s mine and your parents’ fault to put you in such a tough situation!” Azalea replied, “Aunt Emily, you don’t have to blame yourself for it. I just vent my feelings out as I’m feeling moody that’s all. Do you know why Valeria does not see me eye to eye? It’s because of my feelings for Michael and my intention of marrying him!”
Azalea exaggerated things and continued, “Our feelings are mutual but the Davis family had frowned upon me due to my family background and thought that I am not a good match for Michael. Both Michael’s grandpa and father are not a fan of me except for Mrs. Davis. She had always stood beside me but she had no power to convince the entire Davis family to think otherwise. Things would be much tougher for both me and Michael ever since Abbie came into the picture!”
“How did this happen? Wasn’t it a fact that Michael would eventually marry you? Why was there a sudden turn of event?” Emily was feeling slightly agitated.
“That is because Abbie has been flirting around with him! Both Michael’s grandpa and father have been seeking a compatible candidate to marry Michael. Abbie happened to tick the boxes since she is the eldest daughter of the Clark family. Hence, I have always been pushed to the corner but I have chosen to keep it a secret from you. I only decide to come clean since I am left with nothing now!”
Azalea cried and continued, “I have lost my career, relationship, and basically everything in my life! It would be game over for me long ago if it weren’t for your help just now! Although they have decided to forgive me, I am still heartbroken since things may be the end for both me and Michael! Aunt Emily, I am really sad and hope that God would grant me a helping hand! I am genuinely in love with Michael and wish to spend the rest of my life with him!”
Emily was shaking with anger as she recalled her rocky relationship twenty years ago. She had to cut ties with the man she loved the most and was being humiliated due to her poor family background. She decided to let bygones be bygones but did not expect Azalea was heading towards the same destiny as her after so many years later.
Azalea should not have gone through all this hardship! She deserved a much better life!
Emily composed herself and asked, “Azalea, do you really want to marry Michael?”
“Yes! It is my dream to become his lawful wife!”
“Michael… he adores you as well, doesn’t he?” Emily asked.
“Of course! We would have been a married couple long ago if it weren’t for my awkward family background! However, right now…”
“I see. Azalea, don’t worry about it! I will try my best to help you out since you both are deeply in love with each other!”
“Aunt Emily, really?” Azalea stopped crying as she suddenly found a ray of hope in Emily.
“Yes, you heard me right! But you have to promise me that you are telling the truth! You and Michael are truly attracted to each other, right?” Emily clarified once again.
“That’s for sure. You do remember that I am engaged with Michael long ago, don’t you? We would have bear children together right now if it weren’t for Abbie!” Azalea continued to spew nonsense.
Emily was convinced and replied, “Alright then. Azalea, do wait patiently and I will try my best to make your dream come true!”
