William stared at the screen upon the call being disconnected before he eventually put it away.
Matilda had passed away for more than twenty years and the Floyd family did not mention a word about it. Why would they be suddenly interested in her death?
Could it be that a trouble-maker had spewed nonsense to the Floyd family in hopes to tear William and Valeria apart?
Natasya was the only suspect judging by the current circumstances as she intended to turn things around. William had a sullen expression on his face upon thinking about it.
“I shall go all in to get rid of Natasya since she is still not backing off!” William thought to himself.
Valeria was relatively concerned as William had been out for a long time and asked, “Honey, what did your grandmother say to you?”
“It’s nothing important,” William lied to avoid her from feeling bothered. He intended to convince her further and added, “Grandma had inquired about my wellbeing and was asking me why I did not call her.”
Valeria believed him and did not think twice about it. The couple lingered in the private room for a while before William eventually took her back to their room.
She fell asleep but he had trouble drifting into dreamland. He was not afraid that the Floyd family would come between him and Valeria.
They were legally married to each other as husband and wife. However, the Floyd family was nevertheless closely related to him.
Fandrey and Deborah had been treating him well and he was not intending to make them feel disappointed.
He needed to get ahold of the mastermind regarding his mother’s death as soon as possible. Who on earth could it be?
Declan was his only starting point and William decided to speed up the progress. He then picked up the phone and sent a message to Marcus, “Drop a hint to Hardy’s assistant that his boss may have been poisoned by Talitha.”
The upcoming scene had happened in Anthony family’s villa the next morning.
Bevan pulled over at the gate and pressed the doorbell hurriedly. Paisley used the remote control to open the door upon seeing Bevan through the monitor. He quickened his pace and headed straight to the living room.
Paisley glanced at him with a confused look on her face judging by his bizarre behavior and asked, “Why are you in such a hurry?”
“Ms. Paisley, I have got ahold of some very shocking news regarding Natasya’s incident that happened during William’s birthday party. I hurried over as it is best to tell you everything in person.”
Paisley gestured him to have a seat and poured a glass of water to him. “Calm down, take a deep breath first. What is it?”
“Natasya was not on the invitation list to attend William’s birthday celebration. She followed the leader and his wife and managed to get into the Howard family’s estate. She did not go to the hallway but had instead wandered outside of the house and was acting bizarre. She then sneakily followed William and his bodyguard as they headed to the garden halfway through the party. It wasn’t long before she was met with trouble.”
“What about it?” Paisley questioned.
“Well, it was then that the scandal of Natasya and the beggar at the garden was known by the public. A handful of guests at the party headed there to have a good look. I have also dug things further from someone trustworthy and Natasya was very calm upon being caught redhanded. She was seen to wear an old piece of bodyguard’s uniform and stood firm on her ground. She demanded William come over to rescue her.”
“Haha! How shameless and thick-skinned of her!” Paisley sneered.
“William eventually arrived at the scene alongside Valeria and his gang. Natasya claimed that William was deeply in love with her and her actions had clearly pissed Gavin off. She did not even listen to Gavin’s advice and continued to emphasize William’s affection towards her. She was so confident that he would take her side.”
Paisley was shocked and asked, “Why would she do that? How could she not be ashamed of being caught in such a mess and even confessed her love for William? Has she gone bonkers or consumed some kind of drug?”
“No! She seems fine and does not look like one who had been hallucinated.” Bevan shook his head while giving his mobile phone to Paisley and said, “Take a look at this video. It must be taken by one of the guests at the party.”
Paisley watched the footage and was increasingly shocked by it. “You’re right. She even seems confident and this is so strange!”
“Yes, I think so too. How did she have the courage to stand firm on her feet upon being dragged into the mud when she is not out of her mind? Where did she gain the confidence to claim that William is deeply in love with her? Something fishy must be going on.”
Paisley agreed on his speculation and asked, “What do you have in mind?”
“I…” Bevan hesitated. “Miss, I shall cut straight to the chase then. Do you think that William has drugged Natasya?”
“What?” Paisley had a stern look on her face and questioned, “What kind of medication would cause Natasya to behave like this?”
“Do you recall that the Anderson family had provided Sir Hardy with a drug to mess with Valeria? Could it be possible that this is the same medicine?” Bevan asked.
“No! This is not possible! The drug would make the victim suffer from amnesia, right? Besides, the medication would only work under the premise that Natasya has to be alone with William.”
Paisley sneered and continued, “However, your train of thought is accurate as Natasya must have done something to William instead. Her confidence can only be explained by the assumption that he would side with her.”
Paisley suddenly paused as she recalled Hardy who had greatly despised Talitha last time. He had no choice but to give way towards Talitha as she had some dirt on him.
However, his behavior towards Talitha had taken a sudden turn. He had caught feelings towards her and even offered Talitha to reside at their home.
He even decided to marry Talitha in which Paisley had been wondering about his bizarre change of attitude.
Hardy last had dinner with Talitha and suddenly went unconscious. He then changed into a whole new person upon waking up from it.
Paisley had already suspected that Talitha had done something to Hardy but unfortunately had no evidence to prove her point.
Paisley knew that her speculation was accurate judging by Natasya’s arrogant behavior upon being caught in the scandal.
The two sisters of the Anderson family must have set their eyes on Hardy and William. Hardy was unfortunately caught in Talitha’s trap whereas Natasya’s plan to control William had failed.
Paisley was feeling anxious and said, “Bevan, I think my brother has been plotted against by Talitha!”
Bevan nodded and replied “To be honest, I have the same thought too. Sir Hardy is not being himself nowadays.”
“What should we do now?” Paisley was starting to feel panic.
Bevan suggested, “You should talk things through with Sir Hardy as you are his sister. We shall then plan our next move after observing his reaction about it.”
