Raelyn opened the door swiftly and glanced at Natasya with a surprised look on her face. “What?”
“Uncle is still alive. Have a look at this video!” Natasya showed the footage of Declan to Raelyn.
Raelyn was stunned upon seeing Declan was handcuffed and got out of the car. She then asked, “What’s going on? What the hell is happening? How could he still be alive?”
“Mom, what are you talking about?” Natasya instantly knew that Raelyn was hiding something and asked, “Aren’t you relieved to know that uncle is safe and sound?”
“What? He is already on death row and he will do us good if he is dead. But now…”
Raelyn had a sullen look on her face as she gritted her teeth and said, “Nothing bad has happened to your uncle would mean that William is being wrongly accused. Does that mean that our efforts have turned to dust?”
“You’re right. Hardy’s media company, Mexicorp, would be in big trouble! I dodged a bullet by not revealing everything when I called William during the day. He is too intimidating! Did he know that someone was going to frame him since the very beginning?” Natasya asked.
“How would I know? He is unbelievably terrifying!” Raelyn was increasingly afraid of William.
She was initially taken by surprise when she received news that William was the president of Wolf Group but had overestimated him as she had successfully schemed against him. However, her opinion towards him had changed due to the incident that happened today.
She knew Declan well as he would gladly take the blame for them. What difference would it matter as he was already on death row?
He would definitely have taken the drug as he knew what was Raelyn and Devon trying to imply. Although the medication was not deadly, there was however no antidote to treat the after-effects.
The only reason that Declan managed to survive was that he did not consume the drug prepared by them.
Where was the drug then? She had deliberately inserted it in the blanket and it was not possible to go missing out of the blue. Did it mean that William knew about it and swapped the medication out?
Did William have a third eye? How did he know the secret?
William had managed to drag Declan through the mud and ruined the company that he had worked hard on. He even knew their plans extensively and accurately.
Raelyn shuddered as it would be unimaginable if William continued to mess things up. Would William eventually get ahold of her secrets too?
Raelyn was not looking forward to the existence of William himself despite whether he would get in her way or not.
He was a potential threat to her as she felt that she had no chance against him.
She was thinking either to get rid of him or to get him under control.
It was not an easy task to kill William as nothing seemed to go her way.
They were only left with the last chance to make things right. Raelyn sighed and sternly reminded Natasya and Talitha, “Natasya, the blood vermin is our last ray of hope. You and your sister shall start to cultivate the vermin with blood and the fate of this family now depends on the both of you!”
Natasya immediately agreed but Talitha was feeling a bit anxious, “Mom, what’s this blood vermin all about? Can I get my hands on this thing considering I am currently pregnant? Would it put my baby in danger?”
“Are you dumb?” Raelyn raised her voice and said, “You could have as many children as you want on the grounds that this blood vermin is a success to get Hardy under your control. What are you worried about?”
Talitha was persuaded by this idea as the child in her belly did not belong to Hardy and the secret will come to light when she gave birth in the future. Hence, being able to control Hardy was more important than the baby for now.
The trio did not want to waste any more time and got down to business immediately. Raelyn opened the box that was obtained from Gonzalec’s grandfather and took out the blood vermin as well as the instruction to rear it.
Raelyn took two glass bottles out after reading the instruction and placed the vermins into the respective bottles.
She held a knife and glanced at both of her daughters. “Are you girls going to do it yourselves? Who shall start first?”
Talitha saw the knife and took a step back as she was feeling uneasy about it. Natasya rolled her eyes towards her sister and reached out to take the knife. Talitha then reminded her, “We have a first-aid kit, right? What if it goes out of control and something bad happens?”
“Look at you! Such a coward!” Natasya sneered and continued, “No pain, no gain. Aren’t you aware of this?”
She then picked up the knife and aimed it at the tip of her finger. She managed to cut a small wound by using the sharp knife and blood droplets began to drip into the glass bottle.
The vermin began to move when it sensed the blood and gradually increased in size after consuming the blood.
Raelyn wrapped Natasya’s wound with gauze after she was done with it. Talitha was frightened as she watched the vermin turn bigger within a minute.
She was afraid to take the first step, “Mom, I’m scared!”
“Close your eyes!” Raelyn grabbed her finger and made a small cut with the knife. She went straight to business and Talitha’s blood gushed out instantly while she screamed in pain.
“Why are you screeching? Shut up!” Raelyn roared at Talitha and only attended her wound after ensuring that the vermin had absorbed sufficient blood.
Talitha turned around and retched. “This is terrible! Are you sure that we need to feed our blood to this scary creature for a week?”
“Yes, that’s right!”
“My God, would it suck the life out of me?” Talitha anxiously asked.
“Why are you being such a scaredy-cat? It’s just a few drops of blood consider it being so tiny and a normal blood withdrawal is much more than that. It can’t possibly finish a pack of blood within a week, okay?” Natasya looked at Talitha disdainfully.
“Mom, I don’t want to be pierced by a knife every single day. How about I draw my blood out? It doesn’t hurt that much and I can slowly feed it.”
“No! You must do it in the original way to increase the chance of success. Your sister had once failed and suffered from the side effects as she was not the first person that William had met. We have to strictly comply with the formula of rearing the blood vermin to avoid history from repeating itself and we can’t afford any mistakes.”
Hardy swiftly notified the general manager of Mexicorp Media Production and told him to take all the blames after knowing that Declan was still alive.
Hardy had shown no mercy and had turned his back to save himself from trouble. The general manager had no choice but to comply with Hardy’s order to protect his family.
Hardy’s head office swiftly cut ties with Mexicorp Media Production and published a statement to condemn their rash action. The report also hypocritically expressed their sympathy for William as the victim of this incident.
Although Hardy was quick on his feet, the stock value of Acma Corporation had decreased drastically and was suffering a limit down as they were the major shareholder of Mexicorp.
Hardy was feeling anxious about it and his father then called to give him an earful. He needed to come up with a way before his father finds a suitable person to replace him soon.
He was like a cat on hot bricks. What should he do? What plan could he possibly come up with?
