Hardy knew that Michael would eventually bail William out of jail. Hence, his plan was to detain William for several days in the detention center.
Did it mean that Hardy had arranged for his men there to get rid of him? William would have gone with the flow and have a look at the tricks that were under his sleeve.
However, William was not interested as the detention center was a miserable place to be, and he decided to avoid Hardy’s trap.
William decided to make a call to Marcus and it was swiftly connected, “Mr. Howard!”
“Have you get ahold of the motive of the keyboard warriors that were hired by Hardy?”
Marcus replied, “It seems that Hardy is desperate to force you into jail based on me and President Saunders’ opinion. What do you think?”
“I think so, too, as I reckon he is to make a move on me at the detention center. Hence, I have decided to not grant his wish to avoid wasting my time. Let’s now commence with our plan to get rid of Hardy!”
“I have been well prepared and just waiting for your orders!” Marcus grinned as he replied.
“Let’s deal with the public opinion first. Publish all the malicious comments made by the keyboard warriors as well as the scandal of the top management of his media company. We would gain some spotlight thanks to Hardy having spent a fortune on us!”
“Alright, I will have it done right away!” Marcus was always compliant with William’s instructions.
“Wait! Do deal with one more issue.” William glanced at Valeria who had a pouty lip on her face and continued, “Let’s reveal some juice about the sneaky things that Devon did in Ruthorham.”
Marcus chuckled and asked, “Mr. Howard, didn’t you say that you would only get rid of Devon after a few days later? Why are you making a move on him so soon?”
“My wife is feeling blue and I want to make an effort to cheer her up.” William sneered and continued, “I am confident that our introductory gift to Devon would let the entire Anderson Family living by a thread. There would then be an interesting show to enjoy as they will have no choice but to put their hopes on the vermin.”
In New York, Fandrey looked at Callum with a frown on his face and asked, “Are you saying that William has gotten himself in trouble?”
“Yes! He is in a very big mess and he may even have to serve jailtime,” Callum replied and showed the news to Fandrey. “Dad, have a look at this and you’ll understand what I am saying.”
Fandrey took a quick glance at the news and was extremely displeased at it. “What the hell is going on with William? Why is he doing nothing to ease the news?”
“I have no idea too! He might be caught off guard as this incident had gone out of hand…”
Fandrey interrupted him and snapped, “Bullshit! He should have suppressed the news before it blew up on the internet. Things don’t seem well as a special investigation team has even been set up.”
“You’re right. Dad, why don’t you give a call to your old friend and pull some strings?” Callum suggested.
“That is a must, but I would like to call William first!” Fandrey replied and dialed his number.
William finally answered after it was rung for a while, “Grandpa, it’s late now. Why aren’t you in bed yet?”
“How could I possibly be asleep when you have gotten into trouble!” Fandrey cut to the chase and asked, “How could this matter blow up? You have nothing to do with Declan’s death, right?”
“Of course! I’m a good citizen who abides by the law and never involved myself in illegal matters,” William replied.
“Stop beating around the bush and come clean to me. Why was Declan dead and you were said to be the murderer? What did you do at the detention center?”
William giggled aloud upon hearing the series of questions and said, “Grandpa, I went to the detention center to visit an old friend. How could I be aware of someone wanting a piece of Declan? It just happened that I was there the exact day that something happened to him. I was accused as someone is trying to frame me!”
“William, are you sure that you visited your old friend instead of Declan?” Fandrey wanted a double confirmation.
“Yes, of course,” William answered calmly.
“You brat! You’re lying through your teeth!” Fandrey knew that something fishy was going on as no one would be as calm as William should one be accused as a murderer. It seemed that William was not bothered by this matter at all.
Fandrey was feeling better as William was not easy to be schemed against, especially being the president of Wolf Group. He is still an intelligent man despite having lost his memory and had a strong team that was working for him.
Did it mean that William deliberately blew up the news? Fandrey wanted to get an answer, “I have a question for you. Is Declan still alive?”
“Hahaha!” William laughed and replied, “Grandpa, how brilliant of you! How did you know that he is not dead? Are you God himself? How could you predict things so accurately?”
“I see! Everything makes sense now!” Fandrey let out a sigh of relief as the man who tried to frame William would fail miserably. He neither had to worry nor pull some strings as he knew that William would soon strike back.
Fandrey shook his head and chuckled after ending the phone call. Callum, who was standing across from him then asked, “Dad, Declan is fine?”
Fandrey nodded and replied, “Yes, he’s not dead! I would not need to worry about William anymore. It’s getting late and you had a long day. Rest up and get some sleep.”
Callum was feeling relieved and said, “Alright. Good night, dad!”
Fandrey nodded while he stood up and they both returned to their respective rooms. Veronica was still awake and was leaning against the bed while reading a book. She stopped reading upon seeing Callum and asked, “Honey, how was William? Had dad come up with something?”
“Nope. Dad had told me not to bother.”
“What? Why not? How could we do nothing when the matter has blown up? Please persuade him to come up with a plan as William is the only child of my aunt.”
Callum let out a sigh and finally spilled the beans, “Don’t worry, my dad just gave him a call. Declan is not dead and William would not be met with trouble.”
“Ah! Thank God!” Veronica caught a breather and said, “We can be at ease as William is well and fine!”
“Yes, everything is fine now. Let’s go to bed!” Callum reached out and turned off the light.
