“What idea have you come up with?” Talitha and Natasya asked at the same time.
“I am going to make a deal with William just like how we dealt with Hardy by publicly admitting his relationship with Talitha. We will use the same tactic on William with Natasya this time.”
Raelyn’s eyes lit up when she heard about Devon’s proposal and agreed, “Yes, this is a good idea! Why didn’t I think of it before? It was a success with Hardy and perhaps might work on William as well. It will be a win-win situation for us if that is the case.”
“I don’t think so! He would not agree as he has a strong ego. He might even think that we are threatening him instead,” Natasya was displeased with the idea.
“He must have a soft spot to be dealt with! Wasn’t Hardy the perfect example? He wanted to get rid of the baby but eventually chose to publicly announce his relationship with Talitha. Hardy and William are indifferent and I am confident that this plan would work!”
“They are not the same!” Natasya shook her head and continued. “Dad, Hardy is the beloved son of the Anthony family and it is of no doubt that his success is due to his intelligence and capability. However, he also has huge support from his dad and the entire Anthony Family. This is not comparable in the case of William!”
“What’s the difference? Do you think that William is better than Hardy just because Wolf Group is much more successful than Acma Corporation?” Talitha scoffed and continued, “It looks like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don’t you think that you have overestimated William? How could you be so petty to discredit my man and his effort?”
“I’m not, and I have not finished presenting my case. William is a self-made successful man as he is all by himself. Remember how many hardships that he had gone through himself and eventually overcame them? He is a raw talent and founded Wolf Group all on his own. How could a flawless man like William be in the same category as Hardy? He would not be swayed by our proposal.”
Raelyn was feeling displeased and said, “You should test the water first and it would prove that he is not interested in you should he not agree to our idea. We would then seize the opportunity to get rid of him as he is no longer beneficial to us!”
“No! Why would I get rid of a man that I am interested in? Where can I find someone that is better than him?” Natasya immediately retorted and continued, “Besides, are you sure that you can throw him under the bus? How is that possible unless he was indeed the murderer of my uncle? Is he that foolish to kill my uncle out in the open?”
Devon and Raelyn heard Natasya’s words and they both turned silent. Talitha muttered discontentedly, “Mom and dad, do not listen to Natasya as she is out of her mind. You will regret it later If you decide to follow her idea.”
“You are the crazy one and take a good look at yourself. Hardy is a cruel man as he wanted to get rid of you so badly despite you are pregnant and it can only indicate that he is not that invested in you. You would be his first target should our family be in a fragile state. You ought to be smart and cautious to not fall into his trap!”
Talitha was not convinced and said sulkily, “You’re spurting nonsense! I don’t believe you!”
“Talitha, your sister is right. Hardy is indeed a ruthless man and you have to be on your toes. You must keep this meeting a secret from him.”
“I know that as I am not dumb. However, he would definitely be pissed at me as I am unable to complete the task that he has assigned me to,” Talitha replied displeasedly.
“It is alright as we have dirt on him now and he would not dare to lay a finger on you. Hang in there and we will come up with a way to keep him under control. Your turn to shine will come soon!” Raelyn comforted her.
“Are you sure about that?” Talitha asked in disbelief.
“Of course! You just have to sit back and wait patiently.” Natasya chipped in and said, “Let’s solve the problem of William first. Mom and dad, what should we do?”
“You shall give William a call and console him regarding this matter. You can then test the waters to gauge whether he would agree to your request,” Devon suggested.
Natasya finally decided to call William after a round of discussion. Bobby initially ignored her call but eventually went to find William as she had been calling for a few times.
“Sir William, Natasya has made several calls to you. Do you want to have a chat with her?”
William nodded and said, “Of course! How can I ignore her call? I’ll have to sit back and enjoy her performance.”
Bobby handed the phone to William and he pressed the button of accepting her call. Natasya’s worried voice emerged, “William, I just saw the news. Are you all right?”
“No, I am not!” William replied.
“What on earth is going on? I don’t believe that you have harmed my uncle. There must be someone trying to frame you, right?”
“How could I possibly know what is going on? But, I am certain that someone is indeed trying to get rid of me.” William then continued, “I would not let that person off the hook when I get ahold of the situation!”
“William, what should we do now? I think the rumor is here to stay for a while. Have you seek help from your father to suppress the news?”
“Yes, but it’s useless. It was blown out of proportion,” William sighed as if there was nothing he could do about it.
“Do you have other ideas in mind?” Natasya asked.
“Yes, I can only wait for the investigation team to come up with something. I have faith in them to seek justice for me as I am not the murderer,” William deliberately said that.
“I’m just afraid that the person who framed you won’t give up. He must have other plans in mind for making such a big fuss out of it,” Natasya reminded him.
“You’re right. He would not simply let me go as that person is heavily invested to get rid of me. I can only go with the flow as I have no idea what other tricks he has under his sleeve,” William sighed and said.
“What should we do then? We must not sit back and do nothing but come up with a plan instead.”
“Unfortunately, waiting is my only option for now as I am unaware of that person’s trump card.”
“This is too passive and is not a good idea. You would have taken the bait if he had planned things meticulously in advance.” Natasya finally seized the perfect timing and suggested, “William, I have an idea.”
“Really? What do you have in mind?” William asked with a sneer on his face.
“Isn’t the man accusing you of killing my uncle? You can make an announcement to the public and claim that I am your girlfriend or fiance and this would make us a family. Hence, the rumor would die down as you have no motive to harm my uncle.”
