Chapter 643 No Longer Special

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Valeria cheerfully made a phone call to Hayden and Natalie to inform them about William regaining his memories.
Hayden, Archer, and Natalie had rushed to the hospital and they ran into each other in the parking lot.
Hayden was so happy about it until he had forgotten that he was still mad at Archer and Natalie.
Hayden joyfully accepted their greetings and asked, “Are you here to see William as well?”
“Yes, Valeria gave me a call and I immediately told Archer about this piece of good news,” Natalie replied with a smile.
“Yes, I was over the moon as well and immediately brought Andrew with me. We can finally take a breather as long as William is safe and sound!”
They took the elevator together and headed to Valeria’s ward. When they reached the door of the ward, they realized that Marcus, Richard, Michael, as well as Abbie, came to pay William a visit.
William was talking to Richard and Michael about the vermin that he had spat out and their expressions were full of shock.
“How could it be so terrifying? Why is there still a living vermin inside the antidote?” Abbie asked.
“It’s a traditional formula from Kenoland and hence we may find it difficult to understand. However, I’m relieved that William can finally be himself again and we don’t have to be afraid anymore!” Hayden heaved a sigh of relief.
“Yes, they have crossed the line this time. We will be on our toes to ensure that such a thing will never happen again in the future,” Andrew chimed in.
Michael looked at Abbie and then took a peek at William while imagining him spitting out the vermin. Did this mean that Abbie was also troubled by the vermin now?
He couldn’t wait to get ahold of the antidote and save Abbie, but he also knew that now was not the perfect timing.
William knew what Michael was thinking. He reached out to pat Michael on the shoulder and signaled to Michael with a gaze that he would find a way to rescue Abbie.
They spent a lovely morning together and Richard then suggested, “How about we have a celebration since William is now healthy? I shall be the host, okay?”
“No, I’ll do it instead. You have all been through a lot of hassle to take good care of me!” William put his hand on Valeria’s waist and looked at everyone gratefully.
“I would like to thank my dad, my in-laws, Andrew, Marcus, and Bobby. My two best brothers, Richard and Michael as well. But, I’m most indebted to my wife!”
Seeing William’s gentle gaze on Valeria, Abbie then chimed in, “What about me? Don’t I deserve to be appreciated?”
“Thank you for accompanying my wife! How about a limited edition bag as a token of appreciation from me?”
Abbie was a sucker for bags and she happily agreed, “That’s awesome! I happen to need a crocodile-skinned bag in my cabinet. You shall grant my wish then!”
Everyone laughed out loud and Hayden then said, “Since it’s getting late, why don’t we make a move to the hotel? Shall we head over to our hotel or somewhere else?”
“We’re going to Wolf Group, that’s for sure!” William answered with a smile and continued, “Marcus has already made the necessary arrangements. Let’s go!”
The luxury cars left the hospital one after another. Valeria sat in Hayden’s car and was held in William’s arms. She was finally discharged from the hospital and stared generously at the scenery around her. “The scenery and road condition seems different from when I was first hospitalized!”
“It seems different because of your mood!” William answered with a smile.
“Yes, you’re right as I used to feel anxious. However, I don’t have to live in fear anymore seeing that you have regained your memories. I can finally go shopping with Abbie and have delicious food such as fragrant shrimp, numbing fish, stir fry bullfrog, spicy duck tongue… I will have all the food that has appeared in my dreams!”
Hayden couldn’t hold back his laughter seeing Valeria was being a foodie. “You can eat whatever you want after you have given birth. Hang in there for a little while!”
“Yes, I agree. Valeria, you shall just bear with it for now,” Andrew chipped in.
Looking at Valeria’s pouty lips and dissatisfied face, William laughed and said, “I’ll ask the chef at Wolf Group to prepare mouth-watering dishes for you every day.”
“No!” Valeria shook her head.
William looked at her confusedly, “Why? Didn’t you like the food there very much before? Why would you suddenly have cravings for food that are not from Wolf Group’s restaurant?”
“That is because of two reasons. Firstly, Wolf Group has a great reputation and one would be honored to have a meal there. Next, I need to be rich to have it as the food is not cheap. However, I can have it whenever I want since Wolf Group belongs to my husband. Hence, it’s no longer special to me now.”
Everyone exploded into laughter while William smiled lovingly and said, “Endure it a little longer and I’ll accompany you to go on a food tour after you have given birth.”
Compared to the jolly atmosphere of the Howards family as they headed to Wolf Group to have a celebration, things did not seem that cheerful for Natasya, who was at the hospital.
Natasya had experienced the pain that was out of this world yesterday. Fortunately, Raelyn had learned from past experience and told the doctor to give her a sedative immediately to prevent her from hurting herself like before.
Natasya then fell asleep for an entire day after the shot and she finally opened her eyes.
Raelyn immediately asked, “Natasya, are you feeling better?”
Natasya nodded but she was hungry as she had not taken anything throughout the day. “Mom, I’m hungry!”
“I’ll prepare something for you,” Raelyn had prepared a vegetable porridge in advance. She swiftly opened the food warmer and fed Natasya some porridge.
Natasya was feeling energetic after having the bowl of porridge and she asked, “Mom, is there still no news from William?”
“Don’t worry, I have gotten his number from Natalie’s phone,” Raelyn replied.
“Mom, that’s great. Give me his number and I’ll give him a call.”
Natasya was feeling better after she has gotten ahold of William’s number. However, Raelyn was worried as she sighed and explained, “Natasya, you have to calm down and listen to me. I went to your grandfather’s house yesterday and Natalie had confidently told me something. Although William had lost his memory, things haven’t changed between them and I’m afraid you have a slim chance of winning this battle.”
“How is that possible?” Natasya was doubtful and continued, “Mom, he would have a headache whenever he hears Valeria’s name. How could they maintain their relationship?”
“She changed her name from Valeria to Valentina. They also avoided mentioning her real name in front of William. Maybe they have worked things out?”
“What? They’re really cunning! They’re using such a despicable method.” Natasya was furious and continued, “I can’t sit back and do anything about it. I have to give William a call as I’m his actual girlfriend!”
Natasya insisted on calling William despite Raelyn’s advice and she had no choice but to give Natasya the phone number.
