Gonzalec had been locked up for twenty-four hours since the incident last night. Besides having met with the lawyer that was arranged by Lucian, he had not seen anyone else.
He drank a bit more last night but was still conscious of his surroundings. He was accused to make the first move when the man had beaten him up initially. How did he also end up paralyzing the man?
“Something isn’t right!”
Gonzalec felt that something was fishy. However, the footage showed that he was the one who hit the man first. Besides, the man was suffering from a serious injury in the hospital.
He was deeply troubled and had no idea how this incident happened. The only possibility was that he had been framed.
However, he didn’t even know the injured man. Why did he set him up?
Gonzalec still could not wrap his head around after a serious thought for the entire day. He had to wait for Lucian and hoped that she was able to come up with a plan soon.
The guard suddenly came in while he was lost in his thoughts. Gonzalec then muttered, “Who wants to see me at such a late hour?”
“You’ll know when you get there,” the guard replied impatiently but Gonzalec ignored his behavior. He then said with a smile, “The lawyer wants to see me, right?”
The guard ignored him as if he was invisible.
“Don’t be so arrogant. You’ll be in deep trouble once I get out of here!” Gonzalec muttered to himself as he was being taken to an empty room.
There was no one inside. The guard closed the door and left after placing him in the room.
Gonzalec sat on a chair in an empty room while his hands were still cuffed. He kept looking around and had no idea what was going on.
William promised to meet Gonzalec at the detention house in the evening. However, he didn’t seem to be in a hurry even after dinner. He continued to flirt with Valeria as Bobby waited by the door for quite some time. Bobby anxiously waited for William and hesitated to remind him about his visit.
Valeria also felt strange and asked, “Honey, aren’t you going to the detention center later? It’s already nine in the evening. Why aren’t you leaving?”
“There’s no need to rush!”
“Have you changed your mind?” Valeria was confused when she saw William acting nonchalantly.
“No, I’m waiting for the perfect timing. I’ll be heading there when the time is right.” Valeria glared at William and said, “Stop fooling around. How can you know what the right timing is?”
“You’ll be surprised how incredible I can be. I can calculate things accurately,” William’s phone then rang and it was from Marcus. William accepted the call and Marcus was heard chuckling, “Mr. Howard, I’ve arranged everything as per your instruction.”
“Alright, I’ve been waiting for your update. We shall now get down to business,” William then stood up with a smile after ending the phone call and said, “It’s time to pay Gonzalec a visit.”
Gonzalec had been in the empty room for more than three hours. The door was finally pushed open and someone came in.
Gonzalec was aching in pain and was uncomfortable after sitting on the same spot for such a long time. He then turned his head around to see who his visitor was. He was utterly shocked and asked, “You?”
William sat down opposite him and said, “Are you surprised?”
“Yes… I am.” If he didn’t know of William’s identity, Gonzalec would think of him as a playboy and would not take him seriously. However, after knowing him as the president of Wolf Group by Lucian, he was feeling anxious and started speaking nervously.
William had a faint smile on his face, “Calm down, I came to see you as I am curious about someone.”
“William, who are you interested in?” Gonzalec asked with a normal pitch.
“Your grandfather!”
“What? But… why are you interested in him?”
“I want to offer an important deal with him,” William answered with a smile.
“What? William, have you gotten the wrong guy? My grandfather can’t possibly have what you want!” Gonzalec immediately replied.
“How can you be so sure when I haven’t even presented my deal?” William squinted at Gonzalec.
“That’s just my guess. My grandfather is just an illiterate farmer. He has never seen the world beyond his farm and was not of a wealthy background. It’s impossible for you to do business with him judging by his job,” Gonzalec smiled awkwardly.
“Well, how about you? Are you keen to do business with me?”
“William, you’re a funny man. I don’t have the ability to do business with you either,” Gonzalec replied with a wave of his hand.
William gazed at the shiny handcuffs on Gonzalec’s wrist, and the smile on his face faded, “So, are you going to stay here for the rest of your life? Are you happy being locked up here?”
William’s expression could be extremely different at times. When he smiled, it made one feel like spring had arrived. However, his stern face was as cold as ice. Gonzalec shuddered as William stared at him.
“William! Uhm… We have no bad blood against each other. Why do you even bother to get rid of such a useless thing like me?”
William’s voice trailed off, “That’s right. We have no grudges against each other. However, it’s a different story when you provoked me.”
“You reap what you sow. You must have expected this day to come when you told your grandfather to sell the drug to Devon, and asked his brother to frame me.”
Gonzalec was shocked and William continued to stare at him sternly.
“You know about my behavior from Lucian, right? I like to settle things with an eye for an eye. I will always return the favor tenfold no matter what it is!”
“Wait… William, you must be joking. I don’t know who Lucian is,” Gonzalec wanted to act dumb but William snorted and said, “Stop pretending. I know exactly what you, Lucian, and Devon have done. Do come clean before you regret soon!”
“I really have no idea…”
“Bobby, let him have a look!” William did not let Gonzalec continue and called Bobby right away.
Bobby walked over blankly and put his mobile phone in front of Gonzalec to watch a video.
Gonzalec glanced at the video and his face suddenly changed. His parents, wife, and children were all in the footage.
What mattered was not his family members, but the video’s background. It was the place Gonzalec dreaded the most in his life.
William tapped his fingers lightly on the table and said, “I’ll give you ten seconds to think it through! The deal is off after the allocated time!”
His voice was filled with sternness and Gonzalec’s face was as pale as a ghost. His sweat dripped down from his face.
“William, I…”
“One!” Bobby began to count the seconds without any emotion in his voice. Every second seemed to hit Gonzalec heavily.
He didn’t dare to think much and begged for mercy when Bobby counted to four, “I am willing to cooperate with you! Please do not hurt my family!”
