At 6 in the evening, William came to pick up Valeria at the Brownard Group.
Since she was on her period, Valeria looked pale and haggard, and this made William very worried, “I’ve ordered the chef at Wolf Group to make some soup for you. Let’s have dinner and spend our night there. You really shouldn’t go to work tomorrow. Just be good and take some rest, okay?”
Seeing how much William cared for her, Valeria agreed without arguing.
“I’ll do as you say. Because I know my husband only wants what’s best for me!”
“That’s right!” William smiled as he held her in his arms.
Valeria then remembered her missed call to William earlier. She asked him curiously, “Why can’t I reach you earlier? Did you see my text?”
“I switched my phone off for an important meeting this afternoon. And yes, I saw your text after the meeting. But it was already past lunchtime, so I didn’t reply.”
“Thank goodness you were busy. You would be frustrated with Raelyn and Talitha too if you’ve been there.”
“Oh, I won’t. But they will instead. When have you seen me afraid of others?”
“Hmm, that’s true. No one can beat you when it comes to arguing,” Valeria laughed as she praised him. “Anyway, they didn’t get what they wanted today. They were going to get a harder time if it weren’t for Raymond, though. By the way, I don’t like him, William. He acted like a traitor today. I’m worried that he’ll ruin your plan.”
William patted her head and said, “He’s a smart guy. He knows what he can say and what he can’t.”
“I don’t think you would have said that after you’ve seen how unconditionally nice he was to Talitha and Raelyn today! My blood boils just at the thought of it… I just don’t get it! Doesn’t he know that Raelyn and Savannah separated mom from dad? Or is he just dumb? How can he be so kind to his enemies?”
The longer Valeria thought about it, the angrier she was, “Talitha and Raelyn are cruel, and they are full of tricks. If they try hard enough, Raymond will surely tell them all about our secrets, whether it is about my mom or your identity. I’m really worried.”
William frowned, “I’ll remind him, then. They will find out who I am sooner or later, but your mom being still alive isn’t something trivial. They can’t know about it.”
Valeria nodded and remembered her conversation with Lucian earlier that morning, “William, didn’t you say that you’re going to tell me about Lucian’s partner in crime? Who is it if it’s not Raelyn?”
“I think it might be Devon Anderson.”
“But Devon is Raelyn’s husband! Lucian partnering up with Devon is the same as her teaming up with Raelyn, right? So, I was right this morning, wasn’t I?”
“No, it’s different. Devon and Raelyn aren’t on the same boat. Raelyn might be fully devoted to him, but I don’t think it’s the same for Devon.”
“What did you find out?” Valeria asked immediately.
“I’ve got someone to run a background check on Devon, and he apparently has a side chick that Raelyn is clueless about. Seeing how different Devon and Raelyn treat their marriage, I don’t think they’re in it together.”
Valeria’s eyes widened as she listened, and she laughed giddily, “Oh my, karma is really a b*tch, isn’t it! Raelyn will definitely go crazy if she finds out about Devon’s mistress.”
William couldn’t help but laugh when he saw that Valeria was gloating over Raelyn’s misfortune.
As they spoke, the car stopped in front of the Wolf Group, and they went into the hotel with joint hands. Dinner was already prepared in their private room.
As soon as she saw the prepared meal, Valeria’s tiredness vanished instantly as she picked up her fork eagerly and was aiming for the steak. William stopped her with a smile, “Try the soup before you eat anything else. I told them to make this especially for you.”
As she heard this, Valeria obediently drank the soup from the bowl. Meanwhile, William pulled her plate towards him and started to cut her steak into small bite sizes for her. Just then, his phone chimed.
His face turned grim as he glanced at the text.
Valeria noticed the change of his expression and stopped eating, “What’s wrong, dear?”
“You’re right. Raymond might have told them about my identity already. Lucian is now preparing to transfer your mom to another hospital.”
“Oh no, what should we do now?”
William frowned and thought for a while before he answered, “Since they’ve found out about me, your mom won’t be able to help us spy on them anymore. We would have to go with plan B.”
“What’s plan B?”
“Aren’t you having a party the day after tomorrow? Speaking of which, besides marrying me, what else can you celebrate?”
“Pride is a sin, honey. Stay grounded. Yes, I am very happy to marry you, but you don’t have to keep mentioning it as though you’ve been taken advantage of. I don’t like hearing that, okay?”
William chuckled, “But it’s the truth, isn’t it? Aren’t you happy that you’re married to me? I was elated the day I proposed too!”
“That’s more like it. Now, stop keeping me guessing! Just tell me what you’re planning.”
“What do you think about a big present on the day you hold the party? Hmm, something like your parents attending it hand in hand?”
“Really?” Valeria was overjoyed.
“Of course!” William answered, then he called Marcus. “Lucian is trying to transfer my mother-in-law out of the hospital. Inform those who are guarding the hospital to stop her.”
“Alright. So we’ll go on as planned?” Marcus asked.
“Do whatever you can to stop them, as long as you keep Valeria’s mom safe.”
“Got it. I’ll make arrangements right away.”
“There’s not much time. You have less than an hour to prepare,” William reminded.
Marcus replied confidently, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure everything runs smooth. It’s not like I haven’t done it before.”
When William hung up the phone, Valeria looked at him worriedly, “William, will it work? Everything would be fine, right?”
“It’ll definitely work. I just need a good reason to get your mom back to where she should be.”
Valeria nodded at this. After that, William called Archer and said, “There’s been a small problem. Lucian might have found out about my secret.”
Archer exclaimed in surprise, “Who told her?”
“That’s not important. Now, let’s talk about Valeria’s mom,” William kept Raymond’s involvement a secret. “Lucian is going to get her out of the hospital tonight. We don’t have much time, so you need to go to the hospital now. I have arranged everything else, and you just need to act like you two have just seen each other for the first time after all these years.”
Archer did not hesitate because he trusts William entirely, “Okay, I’ll be right there!”
