“I don’t get it.” Andrew shook his head. “Of course, I’ll do my best. But everyone knows that you’ll need to be responsible for your own mistakes, right?”
Charles felt that he couldn’t continue this conversation, and he stopped smiling. “Hah. Do you hope that I’ll be demoted?”
“Hmm? Why are you getting demoted?” Andrew pretended to be confused. “Did you make a wrong decision? Is it because of your new wife?”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“I’m not spouting nonsense, man. Did something happen between both of you? I heard that Elizabeth and Mason applied for a visa so that they could stay overseas forever. What’s going on?”
“What? When did this happen?” Charles’ face suddenly darkened.
Andrew did not look at him. “I think it happened yesterday, but I only heard about it from my friend. He even asked me why she decided to go abroad. Did you plan for her to do so? Wait… are you thinking of getting a divorce because of Ashley?”
Charles glared at him and said, “Ashley? What are you talking about? Stop listening to gossip! Don’t you have something better to do?”
“Well, I think it’s true. Besides, didn’t we find out about Savannah and Ronald’s relationship from the gossip? I still didn’t believe it when I saw the news, but today they made an official announcement.”
Andrew brought this topic up deliberately, which upset Charles even more. “Alright, you can go back! I’m going to work.”
Hah! Charles was so nervous, and he had driven Andrew away when the latter mentioned Elizabeth. Anyone could tell that something bad had happened.
Andrew didn’t stay any longer, so he left the office. Charles’s face was dark as he knew very well that Elizabeth had married him because of his power and money.
In the past few years, Elizabeth had gotten a lot of money while hiding it for him. However, Michael had forced her to repay him, so she did not have a lot of money now.
Why would she go abroad if she was broke? More importantly, why did she even make this decision without informing Charles?
“There must be something fishy!” Charles had an idea. He then decided to make a call to confirm it.
“I heard that Elizabeth and Mason are planning to overseas! What happened? Why didn’t I hear about anything? This b*tch must have done something behind my back. You should keep an eye on her immediately and report everything she does.
He sat down in his chair after giving the order. After that, he picked up the phone as it rang, and he heard Lucas’ voice coming from the other end of the line.
“Mr. Howard, Hayden Howard wants to meet you!”
“I’ll be right there!” After hanging up, Charles had an agitated expression on his face as he cursed, “Urgh! You jerk! Can’t you wait a bit longer? How dare you be so ruthless? Let’s see who’s the victor of this game then!”
Meanwhile, Abbie and Valeria played golf for a while and sat down to rest. Suddenly, she saw the text message that Lucian sent. “Miss, do you have time? Shall we meet?”
William said that Lucian had asked to meet her, and this finally happened. Valeria had a good impression of her previously, but now she didn’t like her at all, so she had to ignore her first.
After that, she continued to chat with Abbie and Raymond while drinking tea. On the other hand, Lucian had not received a reply after sending her text, so she felt anxious.
Why would Valeria ignore her? Was she too busy to read her messages?
After waiting for a while, she still didn’t get a response from Valeria. Thus, Lucian was anxious as she always thought that Valeria was innocent. In fact, she believed that Valeria was different from Natalie, who was authoritative. She thought that she could manipulate Valeria easily, but she didn’t expect the latter to ignore her message.
It appeared that she had underestimated Valeria, and it was time to change her plans. Fortunately, she had placed a spy beside Valeria, so there was still hope. After thinking for a moment, she called Braelynn.
Braelynn picked up the call quickly, and Lucian spoke to her in a gentle voice. “Braelynn, have you been busy recently?”
“Yeah, I’m quite busy. There are a lot of things in the company that need to be settled,” Braelynn answered.
“Aww… It’s been hard on you! Is Miss alright?”
“She is fine!” Braelynn gave a brief answer.
“Is she at the company?” Lucian asked again.
“No, she went to play golf with Raymond,” Braelynn replied again.
“I see. Well, I’ve read the news, and they’ve exposed her identity. The Saunders family seems to like her very much. Is she getting along with Raymond and Archer?”
“Yes, they treat her so well, so she has no reason to ignore them.”
Braelynn sneered. “By the way, my dad told me that President Saunders is going to hold a party for her. They’ve started planning it, and well, it looks grand!”
“Really? Congratulations to her then! Remember to remind her that the Saunders family treats her well now, but who knows what will happen in the future. Be careful.” Lucian said calmly.
“I see. I’ll give her some advice. Is there anything else you want to say?”
“No. Let’s have dinner together when you’re free.”
“Okay, I’ll talk to her when she comes back.” After hanging up, Braelynn shook his head and went to Lamont’s office.
Lamont saw her come in and smiled. “What’s up?”
“My mom just called me to ask for an update about Valeria. I think she was trying to get information from me, and she also wants to treat Valeria to a meal. Dad, what do you think about this?”
“If she wants to treat her to a meal, go ahead. It’s fine.”
“Dad, my mom… is she really suspicious?” Braelynn hesitated for a moment and finally asked.
“I don’t know. Let’s see how is it going. You’re not a fool. Take your time and wait. The truth to be revealed sooner or later.”
“If my mom is… Dad, will you let her go?”
“She won’t die if she doesn’t dig her own grave!” He looked at her and said, “Savannah had many opportunities too, but she gave them all up. Thus, she ended up in such a miserable state! Well, regarding your mother… I guess we’ll have to see what she does!”
Lamont had stated his intentions clearly. If Lucian didn’t play any tricks, any scheme against them, nothing would happen to her.
Braelynn sighed. She did not know what Lucian was planning. What should she do if Lucian took action?
She would not help Lucian because she had to betray Lamont, but she could not leave her alone. No matter what, Lucian had raised her. She couldn’t leave Lucian be because blood was thicker than water. Hence, she knew that she had to take action!
