After a while, she received a reply. “Mom, I miss you!”
This was obviously not a reply from William because it was impossible for him to call her his mom. Natalie knew that the person who sent the message must be Valeria, which made her eyes filled with tears instantly. “Valeria, mom misses you too!”
“Mom, just endure it for a little longer. He said that there are still some things that haven’t been dealt with yet. When everything is settled, we can be together!”
“I know! Valeria, you have to listen to him and love him with all your heart. Don’t be like me.”
“I will. No one can separate us!”
Footsteps came from the corridor, so she quickly replied, “Someone is coming. I’ll leave first.”
She deleted the messages and pretended to read the news on her phone. The door was pushed open and the person who was in charge of taking care of her came in.
The caretaker held a thermos flask in their hand and said, “President Garcia, Lucian made some soup for you. Have some.”
“Put it aside. I don’t want to drink it now!” She shook her head.
“You should have some. Your body won’t be able to take it if you don’t eat!” The caretaker opened the flask and poured the delicious soup. It was her favorite soup, and it smelled very delicious. Lucian knew her tastes very well.
Other than letting her take the medicine, Natalie couldn’t find anything bad about Lucian so far.
If it was just for the sake of the company, there was no need for Lucian to wake her up. When she took the pills to fake her death back then, Lucian could have easily killed her.
However, she didn’t do that and continued to help her after she woke up. Natalie couldn’t understand her purpose behind this yet, so all she could do was wait.
She waited for Lucian to reveal her true intentions and for William to settle everything.
Thinking that all she could do was count on William, she felt bitterness surge in her heart. She had always forced herself to be independent and to rely only on herself, so she didn’t expect that she would need help from others when she turned old. Did this mean that she was old now and that she should retire?
Meanwhile, after reading Natalie’s message, Valeria sighed and returned the phone to William. “Baby, my mom will be fine, right?”
“Of course, don’t worry!” He promised her.
“I’m so worried about her. What on earth does Lucian want?”
“I don’t know, but I’m guessing that she’ll congratulate you soon for returning to the Saunders family. Let’s wait and see. There will always be a hint, right?”
“Right… I’m so thankful to have you by my side. Otherwise, I won’t be able to deal with anything on my own.” She threw herself into his arms. “Baby, I love you so much. What should I do? With you shielding me from everything, I’m becoming more vulnerable by the day! If anything were to happen in the future, will I be able to deal with it?”
“I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise I’ll always be there to protect you!”
“Alright, let’s not worry about that now. But Savannah has embarrassed your father, so he’s probably furious right now, right? Will he make things difficult for you?” She was happy that her relationship with William was justified, but when she thought of Hayden, she started to worry.
“He’ll make things difficult for me, but I know how to settle everything. Relax.”
At this moment, Hayden’s call came in as he spoke. “William, come home right now. I have something to ask you.”
“Okay.” He replied simply and hung up the phone.
However, Valeria was a little frightened when she heard Hayden’s voice. “Baby, will he beat you up?”
“Of course not, what are you thinking?” He pinched her face. “Go to the company. I’ll head home and see what’s up.”
Not long after, as soon as William entered the Howard family’s mansion, a teacup came flying towards him. He dodged it and it flew past his body before it fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
The tea, however, had inevitably splashed onto his body. He wiped away the droplets on his clothes and said, “What a nasty temper you have this early in the morning! Dad, do you need some medicine to calm down?”
The veins on Hayden’s forehead protruded as he was fueled with anger. He roared, “You b*stard! Tell me the truth! Do you know what the Saunders family has done to your sister?”
“So what if I did? And so what if I don’t?” He replied slowly. “Don’t you know that karma is real? If she hadn’t done those things all those years ago, no one else would have taken advantage of her. To be honest, the Saunders family has been considerate enough. If it were me, I would definitely send such a vicious and shameless woman to jail for the rest of her life!”
“You… You traitor! How dare you speak up for the Saunders family?” Hayden was on the verge of losing it.
“Dad, you’re wrong. I’m not a traitor. I’m just spitting facts here. In other words, if a witch like Savannah was your daughter-in-law and she had plotted against your son, what will you do? You would be as heartless as the Saunders family was, maybe even more cruel than them, wouldn’t you?”

Then, Hayden raised his voice and said, “Come on in, boys. From now on, I’ll leave William’s safety to you!”
