Upon hearing that, Charles left the dining table and went to his study. Closing the door behind him, he noticed that something wasn’t right with Savannah. “What is it this time?” he asked.
Savannah showed the text to Charles, “Look.”
“What…” Charles was startled by the message. “What is this all about? Who’s this person?”
“I don’t know. I would have settled him by myself if I knew who the hell this person is,” Savannah cursed at the person. “Charles, what do I do now? I have totally no idea where this b*stard is from. What if he is just playing tricks on me?”
“I don’t think it’s that easy. He probably knows some details… But don’t worry too much since you’ve destroyed all the evidence at that time. They don’t have any other evidence anyway,” Charles tried to comfort her.
“Yes, I know. But what if this person really knows something and makes it big? Archer is already waiting for a good time to kill me. If he finds out I am the one who killed Natalie, he won’t forgive me.”
Savannah’s mind was everywhere, “I waited so long to finally reach here today. I can’t just give everything back so easily. I don’t care if this person really has the proof… We must be careful.”
Charles nodded, “Of course we must be careful. Anyway, he’s betting on everything to blackmail you. Since we’ve got three days, we need to see if we can find out who this person is first. So, just ignore him for now.”
Charles’s words brought Savannah comfort. But she was still mad about the text, “I’ll think about it! Just who had the audacity to blackmail me.”
She sat down on the sofa, trying to slow down her thoughts to figure out who the person was as Charles checked his text messages.
Then, he scowled, “What’s wrong with Dad? He’s placing Andrew into our company? As if putting William in charge isn’t enough for me.”
“Andrew is your son. What’s wrong with a son working together with his dad?” Savannah replied in annoyance.
Charles sneered, “That b*start doesn’t even treat me as a father. He follows the order of William even better than mine.”
“Don’t say that. You killed that woman at that time only because she threatened you and made things big. You didn’t have a choice. But Andrew’s different. He is your own son. You’ve worked so hard all your life, isn’t it all because of him?”
It was a rare chance Savannah got to persuade Charles. She continued, “Just try to treat him better. After all, blood is thicker than water.”
“Oh, I’m afraid I’m the only person who cares about this. I’m not that old anyway. I don’t necessarily need him to take care of me. If he doesn’t listen to me, I can always have another son with some other woman.”
Savannah was starting to get fed up with Charles. She sighed, “Go ahead, then. You’re already in your fifties. Where is your other son?”
“That’s because I didn’t want to have one with Elizabeth,” Charles sneered. “I wanted to divorce her after I could manage myself and find someone I truly love to have a baby with. Who knew it would take this long.”
Charles took a glance at his mobile irritably, “One more thing. They told me Gavin went to see Valeria again. What is this old thing trying to do? Archer will soon be suspecting if he continues to see her so frequently. We’d better get rid of her before anything can happen.”
“Do I look like I have a chance? That old thing is constantly keeping his eyes on her,” Savannah said in a sour tone.
Charles clicked his tongue, “Look for a chance if they don’t give you one. You can’t be sitting there and let things get out of our hands.” Just as he finished his words, Savannah’s phone rang.
It was Raymond. “It’s that son of a b*tch. Not sure what it is about,” she said in disgust.
But she picked up the phone anyway, “Raymond, what’s the matter?”
“Mom, can you give me some money?” Raymond asked.
“What for?”
“I’m planning to go to the resort with my friends, just to chill for a few days. But we’re thinking of renting the entire resort for that few days because we don’t want to be disturbed. I don’t have enough money with me, so can you give me some?”
“Okay… Who are you going with?” Savannah asked.
“Abbie and Valeria. And Andrew as well, together with a few of his friends. I feel bad for Abbie and Valeria about the incident that night. Just want to compensate for them in my way.”
At first, Savannah was irked when Raymond wanted money from her, but the names Abbie and Valeria sparked her ears. She beamed, “I’ll transfer it to you right away.”
Savannah hung up and turned to Charles, “Our chance is here. Raymond is going on a vacation with Abbie, Valeria, and Andrew. We must not lose this chance!”
However, Charles frowned, “Something isn’t right. A vacation at this time? And with Valeria and Abbie? Are they suspecting anything?”
“I doubt so,” Savannah shrugged. “How would he suspect anything if he doesn’t know who he really is?”
“We’ll see. If Richard and Michael are joining them, we’re safe. Otherwise, they might be waiting for us to walk into their trap.”
“You’re right. I’m starting to worry, but we’ll see how it goes. Since Raymond wants money from me, I’ll ask him again when I give him the money.”
Meanwhile, Abbie was looking at Raymond. She chirped, “Alright, only the three of us know about the vacation now. Let’s set up on that day and see what will happen.”
“I still don’t think my mom is that bad,” Raymond still thought highly of Savannah.
“It doesn’t matter what you think. We will conclude things based on what really happened. I will apologize to you if nothing happens, but…”
Abbie took a deep breath, “If she did it to take revenge on Valeria, what are you going to do?”
“I…” Raymond was rendered speechless. He had never suspected Savannah, but he also didn’t want to think what would happen if it really turned out to be her.
After all, no one would want their mother to be evil.
It was already late at night. Archer was smoking on the balcony of the hotel.
The man who was supposed to keep an eye on Gavin just reported to him that Gavin ordered someone to bring his pets over from Ruthorham.
In addition to that, he also just bought a three-story house with a yard in West Wing Road two million dollars above market price and hired people to clean it. It was clear that he would be moving in.
It seemed out of place for Gavin to have done these. Archer really couldn’t fathom what Gavin was really planning.
Putting the cigarette away, Archer checked his phone again. In his gallery were the photos of Gavin and Valeria he received earlier ago.
Gavin looked so kind. In fact, too kind, as though he was trying to look good in front of Valeria.
And this was something new to Archer. Gavin had always been a strict father to him since he must be trained to take over the company. Archer had never seen Gavin be loving towards any person other than Raelyn and Raymond.
It was rare enough for Archer to remember Gavin as a kind person. And he felt even weirder when he noticed that Gavin was clearly trying to please Valeria.
But Valeria was Ronald and Natalie’s daughter. Gavin had no business being so nice to her. So, what did he do that for?
Archer wondered what he was hidden from.
