William didn’t seem to mind that Raymond and Abbie met at the bar. What really caught his attention was the meeting between Gavin and Valeria.
Gavin’s motive was clear to him. He knew Gavin went through all those troubles to get closer to Valeria so that she would let him take her back to the Saunders in the future.
And William wasn’t very fond of this idea. He was foreseeing something more than that.
If Valeria found out who Gavin really was, she would definitely go mad. Just how did Gavin think Valeria would be happy to reunite with him.
Besides, Gavin’s little tricks to get Valeria back would definitely catch other people’s attention. Savannah would be the first to notice it, followed by Hayden and Archer.
William thought it was too soon for Gavin to bring everything to light, but he didn’t have a good reason to stop Gavin from meeting Valeria. After all, they were supposed to be separated.
As much as William was troubled, Valeria came back in a good mood.
She gave him a hug right as she entered their room, “Honey, I’m back! Did you miss me?”
“Of course,” William hugged her back and gave her a kiss. To which she reciprocated with equal passion. After the kisses ended, Valeria snuggled with him, “Honey, guess who did I have lunch with today.”
“Who is it?” William asked, pretending like he didn’t know.
“A kind old man who sounded lonely. He says his children all went abroad, and he stays here alone with only his faithful dog and cat. Oh, he said his dog even runs errands for him, helping him buy groceries, newspapers, and breakfast. Have you seen such an intelligent dog? He did promise that he’s bringing them to see me tomorrow… I can’t wait to meet them!”
“I can buy you a dog if you like them so much. Just get it a trainer, and it’ll do things for you too.”
Valeria shook her head, “Nah, trained dogs are different from those you raise. I would train it from a puppy if I want to raise one, but not now.”
“Why not?”
“Because I want to have a baby with you. Young pups aren’t too friendly for pregnant women and babies.”
Upon hearing the word ‘baby’ coming from Valeria’s mouth, William was exhilarated. He couldn’t help but hug her tightly and planted several kisses on her again.
They were still laughing and playing around on the sofa when Bobby came into the room. And Bobby couldn’t hold his chuckles when he saw the state they were in.
Noticing that they had company, Valeria blushed as she parted from William’s arms, smoothing her hair out and trying to sit politely.
On the contrary, William wasn’t bothered by Bobby at all. He tugged at Valeria, making her sit on his lap, and held her in his arms. Then, he turned to Bobby, “What’s the matter?”
“I’ve brought him out and found a place for him to settle down. We’re ready to proceed with your next order.”
“Keep an eye on him. Someone else might want to get him as well.”
“Of course. We are guarding him even tighter than the detention center,” Bobby was confident.
“Good job. Now you can go ahead and rest well,” William praised. To which Bobby nodded and left.
Valeria stared at William curiously and asked, “Honey, what are you guys talking about?”
“I’m about to tell you. I got Ronald out of the detention center.”
“What!? Why?”
“Look, strictly speaking, Ronald didn’t murder your mom. The person behind everything is Savannah, and he just didn’t stop it. I need Ronald to do something for me, so for now, he has to be out of the detention center.”
William made it very clear that he was only freeing Ronald because he was of use.
And Valeria understood that. William always had his own way of doing things. Besides, since they were already married, she didn’t want to doubt him.
Plus, if William were to hurt her, she wouldn’t be able to stop him anyway.
“Okay, do it as you wish. But, no matter what he has done in the past, he is still my dad. I don’t want you to go over the line because of him. Just send him back to prison when you’re done with him, okay? I’m sure the authorities will do something about him.”
“I won’t, honey. I only want him to do something for me,” William promised.
Meanwhile, Charles, Savannah, Ashley, and Elizabeth were all having dinner in Charles’s dining room.
Charles was sitting at one end, with Elizabeth and Ashley each by his sides. He seemed really adamant to reinforce the fact that one was his wife and another his mistress.
Savannah, sitting across Charles, gave the two ladies a look. The corner of her lips curled into a cold smile.
Even having a meal, Ashley was trying to flirt with Charles, rubbing her feet against his legs.
Savannah, of course, noticed what was going on under the table. She couldn’t help but frown at how improper Ashley was behaving at such an inappropriate time.
Then, she turned to Elizabeth, who seemed like she had forgotten what she had seen in the study earlier after returning from her trip. She could even tell Ashley to eat more because she was too slim.
However, Savannah only felt ironic to hear Elizabeth’s caring words for Ashley. Deep down in her heart, Elizabeth must resent the situation she was put in.
Yet, that was the only thing she could do, seeing that she chose to bow to her desire to gain power and influence.
Elizabeth had belittled herself so much that Savannah began to see her reflection in Elizabeth. She gave her everything to be with Archer, but what did she get in return?
Just the thought of the heartless Archer ruined Savannah’s mood for dinner.
So, she put her bowl away and left the table. She wanted to take a walk in the backyard, but a text came in and caught her attention.
“Mrs. Saunders, let me introduce myself. I have some stories you might want to hide. I know what you did to marry President Saunders and what you did to kill Natalie Garcia. If you want to keep this a secret, I want a billion dollars transferred into my account in three days, or I promise these interesting stories will go viral.”
Savannah’s face darkened when she saw that message. “Damn it,” she thought. “Is this a threat? Why would anyone blackmail me?”
“Whoever this is, they certainly know the details about Natalie’s death. This isn’t a joke.”
“What should I do now?”
Out of the things she could do next, giving the person the money as she was told wasn’t the first on her list. Savannah just wouldn’t give out the money so easily.
Savannah just wouldn’t give out the money so easily, especially when she knew that it was only the beginning of the threat, and it would never end. “But what if he told the world about the secret if she didn’t give him the money?” a voice urged.
Putting other matters aside, all Savannah was really concerned about was hiding everything from Archer.
Savannah’s heart was pounding in her chest. Immediately, she turned and hurried back to the dining table, calling out for Charles, “Charles, are you done? We need to talk. I’ll be waiting for you at the study.”
