As Savannah turned around the corner towards Charles’s villa, she saw Elizabeth’s car from the opposite road.
Their cars drove past each other in a flash. Elizabeth was basically speeding through Savannah with no intention of greeting Savannah at all.
On the other hand, Savannah was enraged. Even though she despised Elizabeth, she might have been annoyed if Elizabeth stopped to greet her, but the disrespect Elizabeth showed for not even bothering to slow down had driven Savannah up the wall.
She already had a lot of pent-up anger from Archer, but now she was absolutely exasperated. If she could stop Elizabeth’s car, Savannah would have definitely done that to give Elizabeth a lesson.
When she pulled up at Charles’s front door, she saw his car as well. So, she headed straight to his study as soon as she entered the villa. However, she heard low moans from the study room right as she got to the second floor.
Savannah’s face turned ugly, and she realized why Elizabeth sped through her without stopping. It must be because Charles and Ashley were blatantly hooking up in the study in broad daylight.
Savannah was almost furious. Her back was already up against the wall, yet Charles here had the time to play around with Ashley.
So, not bothering to care about whatever was going on in the study, she stepped forward and knocked on the study’s door.
The moan inside stopped almost immediately. A couple of minutes later, Charles embarrassedly opened the door, “Savannah.”
To which she entered the study and glimpsed at Ashley, whose clothes were disheveled. Savannah sneered, “Did you two have a good time? Get out of here!”
Flustered, Ashley quickly left the room. Then, Savannah turned to glare at Charles, “What a way to enjoy yourself, Charles! Can’t you at least be discreet about it if you’re going to be reckless like this in broad daylight? Aren’t you worried about what others might think if they knew about this?”
“But I’m in my own home, and there’s no one around,” Charles smiled awkwardly. “Savannah, you’re not a child anymore. It’s inappropriate for you to shout like this. Can’t you show some respect for me?”
“No one?! I just saw Elizabeth’s car round the corner on my way here! She must have come back just now.”
“So what if she came back? I’m not afraid of her,” Charles did not turn a hair.
“Have you forgotten what happened before? Even a worm will turn. I asked you to butter up Ashley to work for us, not for you to cheat on your wife so blatantly. We’re doomed if you upset Elizabeth, and she decides to get her revenge.”
“Elizabeth’s also involved in the plan at that time. There’s no way she can clear her own name if she ever dared to talk about it,” Charles laughed coldly, not seeing Elizabeth as a potential threat to him.
Then, noticing the look on Savannah’s face, Charles figured she must be upset about something. So, he asked, “Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to bring the b*stard to visit Sir Gavin now?”
“Don’t get me started… Archer was there too! He had the nerve to tell me, in front of everyone, that he’s sending Raymond away and won’t give him sh*t. F*ck, I’m so pissed right now!”
Savannah was basically shaking with anger, “If he’s serious about it, then everything I’ve planned up to now has all gone to waste! I can’t let this happen!”
“Did he really say that? That’s a bit inconsiderate, don’t you think?” Charles got angry too. “Archer has gone too far this time!”
“That’s what I’m saying! Gosh, I can’t stand it anymore. I want to strike back. Charles, we need to discuss our plan next.”
Meanwhile, William was on his way back to town. It was a more than two hours journey from the detention house back to the city. Seeing that William was relaxed against the seat with his eyes closed, Marcus slowed down the car, assuming that William was asleep.
The silence in the car remained until Marcus turned into the city’s ring road, where William’s phone rang. He opened his eyes and glanced at his phone, but he ignored it.
Guessing that it was from Hayden, Marcus asked with a smile, “Is it from Sir Hayden?”
“Yeah.”
Marcus grinned, “When are you going to stop being angry at him?”
“At least a few more days. I can’t just forgive him so easily after what he’s done to Valeria, right?” said William. He couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
Marcus, too, laughed. Then, he remembered that Bobby hadn’t been around for two days. So, he asked, “Mr. Howard, what’s Bobby up to? I haven’t seen him for quite a long time.”
“I asked him to take some time off to rest because he’s injured. But I think he’s now off finding that mysterious woman at some places we didn’t even hear of. He just can’t sit still,” William sighed.
Marcus thought it was impossible for Bobby to find that woman. “But that’s not an easy job. Bobby never saw her face, hence knowing nothing about her. It’d be like looking for a needle in a haystack!”
“That’s what I thought too. But Bobby insisted on finding that woman even though he had no clue. He was so ashamed that he almost died that night, so of course he’d want to rectify the situation. Besides, Bobby was a special forces soldier. I’m sure he can find something if he really wanted to. I just didn’t bother to stop him.”
William’s phone then rang again. He took a look at it, and he smiled, “It’s Bobby. Maybe he found something after all.”
“Hello?” he asked, answering the call.
“Sir William, good news! I’ve got a lead!” Bobby sounded excited.
“Really? How?” William asked.
“I found something suspicious at Miss Barnbook’s house.”
William didn’t expect to hear that from Bobby. Surprised, he asked, “Did you break into someone else’s house? That’s so bold of you! When did you go? Did anyone see you?”
“Just now. No one’s going to pay attention to me in the daytime. Besides, I made sure that Miss Barnbook isn’t home. Anyway, I looked around in her house and found something useful, but we shouldn’t talk over the phone. Sir, where are you? I’ll come to you.”
“Meet me at the hotel. I’ll be back right away,” William replied. Then, he hung up and instructed Marcus to speed up, to which his demand was complied with.
However, it was still more than half an hour later when they arrived at the Wolf Group Hotel. After they got out of the car, they went straight up to William’s presidential suite by the dedicated elevator, where Bobby had been waiting for them patiently. He stood up and greeted them, “Sir William!”
William gestured to Bobby to sit down as he and Marcus took their seats. “What did you find in Lucian’s place?” he asked eagerly.
“I went to Miss Barnbook’s bedroom after I snuck into her house, but I found nothing out of place. Then, when I almost gave up, I noticed there’s an attic I haven’t been to yet. So, I went up to the attic. And guess what? The attic looked like it had been occupied by someone.”
“Really?” William’s face lit up with excitement.
Nodding, Bobby continued, “Miss Barnbook lives alone in her townhouse with quite a number of bedrooms. Even if she has guests over, there’s no reason to sleep in the attic. Unless that person needs to hide in it! Also, I looked through every nook and cranny in the attic. Although it’s been cleaned, I still found a thread of hair on the bed. Judging by the length of it, it must be a woman living in that attic.”
He took a deep breath and added, “There’s something else. Miss Barnbook came back when I was searching the attic. I was stuck inside.”
