Chapter 385 I Have Been Dreaming About It

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Archer was incredibly cold and resentful when he looked at Savannah.
Raymond, unable to take it anymore, started yelling at Archer, “Why didn’t you just kill me if you hate me so much!? You shouldn’t have let me be born!”
“Do you really think I want you to be born?” Archer shifted his cold gaze away from Raymond to Savannah. “I have been dreaming of killing you ever since I knew of your existence. It’s such a shame I failed to do that.”
“Archer! Are you out of your mind? How can you say such things to Raymond?” Gavin’s blood boiled. “Get lost! Get out of here now!”
Upon hearing that, Archer stepped away without any hesitation, leaving Raymond shaking in anger. Gavin reached out to put his hand on Raymond’s shoulder and said, “Raymond, don’t be bothered about what your dad said. He didn’t mean it.”
“No! I’m not going to just forget that. No father would ever say such things to his child, so there must be a reason he’s telling me these!” Raymond turned to Savannah, “Mom, tell me. Why?”
Savannah’s face paled, her hands clasped together. There was no way she could ever tell Raymond about how she shamelessly tricked Archer into a marriage.
“No can do,” she said to herself.
She thought she could keep the darkness in the past, but Archer had entirely ruined her chance by bringing it to light. And he caught Savannah off guard.
Truth be told, she came up with hundreds of thousands of ways to persuade Gavin so that he would change his mind. However, it seemed like her effort was futile since Archer had just blatantly pointed out.
Raymond continued to question her, “Why are you doing this to yourself? You’re born and raised in a well-off family too, why are you letting him treat you like this? Why won’t you just divorce him?”
“That’s enough, Raymond,” Gavin warned. Even though he was repulsed by Savannah after knowing the dirty works she had done, he didn’t want Raymond to hear about it.
After all, Raymond was one of the Saunders. Gavin took a deep breath to keep his cool and told Savannah, “Go. I’ll talk to Raymond. Give us some time alone.”
To which Savannah left in defeat. After that, Gavin took Raymond’s hands as they sat down, “Raymond, what happened between your parents is not important. Grandpa is on your side-”
“Grandpa, can you please tell me why?” Raymond pleaded.
Gavin sighed. Since Raymond had already found out about the hole in the sinking ship, there was no need for Gavin to cover up for Savannah anymore.
Savannah deserved what was coming to her, but she shouldn’t be allowed to drag Raymond along with her. Gavin was determined to separate Raymond from Savannah, even if it meant Raymond had to learn about Savannah’s doing in the past.
Gavin began to explain, “Your dad… He never wanted to marry your mom. He was in love with someone else. So, Savannah had her wicked way with your dad and got pregnant with you. Then, she used it to force your dad to marry her. That’s why your dad hates her… and you, too.”
“So that’s why he hates me…” Raymond murmured. “No wonder Mom doesn’t want to divorce him. But… What’s the use of planning all these if Dad doesn’t love her?”
“Raymond, forget about them, okay? You’ve done nothing wrong, so don’t take your dad’s words to heart. Besides, I’m on your side. I can’t control what your dad does, but I’ll leave you my inheritance,” Gavin comforted.
But Raymond shook his head, “You shouldn’t do that, Grandpa. I don’t need your money. I can feed myself.”
“Raymond, I’m serious about this. Your parents’ marriage is a mistake, and I’m responsible for that. But it’s no use crying over spilled milk, isn’t it? You’re all grown up now, so just live your life. Do what you want.”
Meanwhile, Savannah was raging after the stunt Archer had pulled. He had made it clear that whatever she was planning, it wouldn’t work.
Not only did she spend the previous twenty-plus years in vain, but she also received nothing in return. Savannah just couldn’t accept the fact that she had failed. She had to turn the table around.
And only Charles was on the same boat as she did. So, Savannah instructed her driver, “Send me to Charles’s place.”
At the same time, Elizabeth arrived at Howard’s family villa. She stepped into the villa with a bag in her hand, but there was no one in the living room.
And it shouldn’t be, because Charles’s car was parked in front of the front yard. Perhaps he was in the study room.
At the thought of it, Elizabeth headed upstairs for the study. But as soon as she landed on the second floor, she heard Charles’s voice coming from the study, “Such a thirsty little w*ore, aren’t you?”
Ashley’s voice was as sweet as honey, “You’re the one who chose to… I can’t control what you do!”
“I wouldn’t have taken the bait if you hadn’t started it first.”
“But you can always say no.”
“Oh, how could I?! I love you so much.”
Upon listening to the shameless exchanges, Elizabeth’s face turned pale. She knew that something bad was going to happen ever since Ashley moved in with them with great fanfare, but she just didn’t expect that it would happen so soon.
Not only did they start getting busy in broad daylight, but they were doing it in the study! It seemed like they weren’t planning on keeping it a secret from other people. Just how impatient they were. Or did they just figure that Elizabeth’s feeling wasn’t important?
Just a hint of that thought made Elizabeth want to barge into the study and make a scene out of it in anger. She really wanted to see what Ashley could do if she marred Ashley’s face.
However, she remembered the plan she had with Mason, and she immediately gave up the idea.
It wasn’t the time to kick up a fuss. If Elizabeth did, she would be the first person Savannah and Charles would suspect when they were blackmailed.
There was no way Elizabeth would do anything that could spoil their plan. So, she could only swallow her pride for the sake of the plan.
Besides, she shouldn’t waste any of her energy on a hard-hearted man like Charles.
Yet, Elizabeth also wouldn’t just forget the humiliation Charles and Ashley brought upon her. An eye for an eye. Elizabeth was determined to make Charles and Ashley have a taste of their own medicine in the future.
Clenching her teeth, Elizabeth slowly descended the stairs and returned to her car. Without hesitation, she started the engine and left the villa.
Meanwhile, Ashley, who was snuggling in Charles’s arms, smiled coldly when she heard the sound of Elizabeth’s car engine.
Charles must have been too aroused to hear the car pulling up at the yard earlier, but Ashley heard it clearly. She flirted with Charles on purpose to make their relationship clear to Elizabeth.
Truth be told, Ashley was prepared for Elizabeth to barge into the study and thrash the place. So, it surprised her when Elizabeth just left without doing anything.
She sneered. It seemed like Elizabeth wasn’t that high and almighty at all.
The high-handed action Elizabeth did in front of her was all but just a bluff. Ashley thought.
If not, Elizabeth could have just come into the study and throw a tantrum.
Elizabeth was far away from the villa when she called Mason, “Mason, are you done preparing the thing? I can’t wait another second. I need Charles and Savannah to pay for what they’ve done! Now!”
“Please be patient, Aunt Elizabeth. Everything is sorted out now. Why don’t you come, and we’ll discuss it further.”
