Lamont sulked in his seat for a while until Gavin called him. “Didn’t you say you were going to have me meet Valeria? When can I meet her then?”
“Probably a few days later. Miss Brown is not in a good mood now.”
“Oh,” Gavin said. “Is she alright?”
“I haven’t seen her yet. I called her just now and she gave me a scolding.”
“Just let her be. She must be acting like this because of what Hayden said yesterday. Imagine how bad her mood would be. Anyway, do you think they’ll break up?”
“I don’t think it’s going to be that easy.” Lamont said truthfully.
“Does she still insist on being with him after knowing the truth?” Gavin was stunned. “She’s just as stubborn as Archer. It’s not that I’m being cruel, but I want her to be happy too. Her mother killed William’s mum, what would William do if he found out about it? Besides, they’re related in a way and it’s inappropriate for them to be together.”
“Yes, I’ve thought about this too. Even if William did not pursue her mother’s crime, they’re still relatives… Besides, there’s Raymond too. This is a complete mess.”
Upon mentioning Raymond, Gavin sighed and said, “I have to tell you something. Savannah is back in B City, and she’s not alone. She has brought Raymond together with her.”
“Raymond is back? Why didn’t President Saunders tell me about it?” Lamont asked in surprise.
“They should’ve been back a long time ago, but Archer had always stopped them from coming back. You know how he is.” Archer hated Savannah, and he despised her son, Raymond too.
Gavin clearly knew why he hated them so much. “What happened in the past shouldn’t be blamed on the next generation. Besides, Raymond doesn’t know anything about what’d happened. It’s wrong for Archer to put all the hate on him and refuse to meet him. He is a good kid after all. At least he didn’t inherit Savannah’s shameless and vicious character.”
“Yes, Raymond is entirely different from her.” Lamont agreed with him.
“You are on good terms with Archer. If you have time, you should talk some sense into him. No matter what, Raymond is still his child. He should let go of the past and stop doing things he’ll regret someday.”
“Okay, I’ll talk to him some time. But I can’t guarantee he’ll listen.”
The reason Savannah brought Raymond back was that Gavin had suddenly returned to B City the other day.
She was worried about Gavin’s motive, so she rushed back to find out, bringing Raymond with her.
Although Archer did not like Raymond, Gavin adored Raymond a lot.
Even if Savannah did something filthy behind his back, Gavin would still turn a blind eye to it as long as Raymond was around.
After all, Raymond was Archer’s only child, so the future of the Saunders family would be put in his hands one day. Therefore, all Savannah’s bad deeds would only ruin Raymond’s reputation.
Hayden was very fond of Raymond, his grandson too. So, he had prepared a banquet for both Savannah and her son in Wolf Group.
That night, Savannah attended the banquet with Elizabeth. As Savannah saw that William was nowhere in sight, she deliberately asked, “I don’t see William. Where is he?”
Hayden’s attitude was nonchalant towards this. “What, do you think I’m not welcoming you enough by preparing this banquet? Does the entire family need to show up?”
Savannah was flustered by Hayden’s sarcasm, and she did not dare to talk back either. She swallowed the upsetting feeling and said, “My father-in-law is here too, Dad, do you invite Gavin to the banquet as well?”
“Of course I did.” Hayden said with an unhappy tone. “Raymond hasn’t returned in so many years. Of course he would miss him too.”
As he was speaking, Gavin arrived merrily. “Uh! Where’s my precious grandson?”
“Grandpa, I’m here!” Raymond immediately got up and went to help Gavin over. Gavin held his hand and examined him carefully, “Oh, you have grown again!”
“Grandpa, I’m no longer a teenager. I’ve stopped growing a long time ago.” Raymond smiled and said helplessly.
“Oh, that’s right. What I meant was that you’ve grown into a handsome man! Just like your uncle William! Right, Hayden?”
Hayden laughed when he heard this. “That’s right. Raymond and William are of the same age and I remember that they kept competing in everything when they were kids. Whenever Raymond heard that William was better looking than him, he would throw a tantrum! I thought they were going to be enemies. Turns out, they’ve become best buddies now!”
“Yes! Speaking of which, where’s William? Don’t tell me he’s hiding because his nephew is better looking than him!”
Even though Gavin had asked the same question as Savannah, Hayden did not answer in such distaste as he did to her. Instead, he smiled and shook his head, “He must be out having fun again. Raymond called him and he said he’ll be back by tomorrow.”
Seeing the smiles on Gavin’s and Hayden’s faces as they talked about Raymond and William, Savannah and Charles exchanged a knowing look as they were clearly annoyed at this.
Meanwhile, after Valeria and William had had their dinner, they went out to the deck once again. At night, the waves were peaceful and quiet, with a cool breeze in the air.
The moon was shining brightly in the dark sky, and the sea was calm as if it had called it a day. Then, William suddenly took a sky lantern out of nowhere.
As she saw this, Valeria was surprised, “Hubby! When did you prepare this?”
“I’ve prepared this for some time now. I’d wanted to light this with you on the beach. But since you like the sea, I think we should just stay here tonight. We could light this up here and enjoy our wedding night too. See? I’m killing two birds with one stone.”
William took out his lighter with a smile and asked, “Do you want to wish on it?”
“Yes! Of course!”
“Here, take this pen!” William handed Valeria a pen and said, “Write all your wishes on it!”
“Turn around, don’t peek at my wishes!” Valeria ordered.
“Okay, okay!” William turned around obediently while Valeria started writing her wishes on the blank spaces of the lantern. She wrote: ‘May God bless me and my husband. May the both of us always be well, in love and in harmony for the rest of our lives and to never be apart.’
After she finished writing, William turned around and asked her, “Are you done? I’m going to light it now!”
“What about your wishes? Don’t you want to write them down?” Valeria asked.
William said with a smile, “I’ve already written them down earlier!”
Then, they lit up the lantern and let it go slowly. They watched as it flew higher and out of their sight. When it had become a speck of light, Valeria looked a little sadly.
“Honey, what did you wish for?”
“I’m not telling you!” William had wanted to tease her.
“Hurry up and tell me! I want to know! Or else I’m going to get angry.”
“My wish… is for us to have many children. It would be great if you could give birth to… say, a dozen of them?” William said with a smirk.
“I’m not an animal! How am I supposed to do that?” Valeria punched his chest playfully, “Besides, giving birth hurts a lot. If you want that many kids, you’ll have to see me suffer. That just proves that you don’t love me enough. If you do, you won’t bear to see me in pain!”
“Alright, I was wrong. Let’s not have that many children. We’ll just have one. A daughter that’s as beautiful as you is enough. By then, I’ll happily be a servant to both of my princesses.”
“No, I want a daughter and a son. Our son should be as handsome as you, and our daughter should be just as beautiful as me!”
“Aren’t you afraid that it’ll hurt?” William asked with a smile.
“Of course I am. But for you, I’m willing to go through it!”
“Alright, then. It’s best if they are twins, so you’ll only have to hurt once!”
As William said this, he carried Valeria up to the bedroom. As the moonlight beamed down on them, love could be felt in the air. With everything as perfect as ever, it was going to be a romantic and endless night after all.
