Distracted from my thoughts, I didn’t realize that Luke went to the mini stage and grabbed the mic.
“I found a love for me
Darling just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me”
His voice was soft and husky. It wasn’t too bad and out of tune, nor was it too good, but it was perfect. The way he said the words, just left me speechless, like he meant every word to…. me.
“Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight”
I felt goosebumps when he said the last line. His green eyes pierced through me, just staring at me.
“Snow, why don’t you join your husband-I mean your boyfriend?” This time, it was Hannah’s turn to wiggle her eyebrows at me.
“Yeah, Snow, right Eion?” Emma agreed, turning to look at the boy from across the table, Eion. He just stared blankly in reply before looking at Luke in front.
Well, it’s all fun and happy until you lose. Giving my best death glare at Emma and Hannah, I took a deep breath. “Fine.” I stood up and went to the mini stage and joined Luke.
“Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I’ll be your man
I see my future in your eyes
Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful
I don’t deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight”
“Happy birthday, Snow!” Luke exclaimed through the mic after we were finished. I watch as people stare at me, a kind smile on their faces as they clap. I smiled shyly and motioned for Luke to stop as my cheeks were so red I feel like I’ll burst any minute now.
Luke guided me back to our seat, laughing at ourselves. “That was really good, Snow!”
I snorted. “If it isn’t to your voice then maybe my voice was horrible.”
“So, did we all sing?” Dax asked.
Hannah glanced in the direction of Eion. “Well, there was one left…..”
“Then sing now, Eion! We all did, you were the last one.” Leroy urged. Still not moving, he just stared at all of us like we were some pest in his shoes.
Luke grinned and started to chant, “Eion! Eion! Eion!” Soon, we all joined in. Eion being Eion, deepened his glare at all of us. Still as stiff and silent as a robot.
“So killjoy,” Luke commented in a joking manner.
“C’mon now, we won’t leave till you sing,” Dax said in a singsong voice.
“Oh, that’s great then. I was about to leave anyway.” He stood up and left the resto-bar.
After that night, we finally left and returned to our own houses, with Luke offering me a ride home. Thankfully, we reached our houses safely. And right now, we are back to reality. School…
“Eww, stop that,” I told Dax. He’d been winking at Emma nonstop in a playful manner. Gross.
She just shrugged in reply before turning on reading her notes because of some quizzes she’ll have after this lunch. I huffed, chewing my baked spaghetti. It’s Monday, and I’m not really in the mood, simply because it’s Monday! My “favorite” day of the week, and just earlier, I got my-
“You have your period, don’t you?” Dax said out loud my thoughts and my eyes widened. Well, he’s not wrong though. I really have my period now. He chuckled at my expression and received a punch from me, even though he’s across from me I managed to do it. He moaned in pain and shut his mouth.
I mean, that was a bit bad of me but Dax started it. I smiled in victory, continuing on chewing my baked spaghetti and grabbed a bit from my chocolate cake. The taste lingered in my mouth and I closed my eyes. So heaven.
“Hey, guys.” Hannah greeted, smiling so happily at each of us and sat down, with Leroy at his tail. I snorted at her and finished my chocolate cake, the taste not enticing anymore.
Hannah raised her eyebrows at me. “What’s wrong?”
Dax lighted up at this question and smiled mischievously. “She has her-”
“PERIOD!” Leroy finished, exclaiming so loud that everyone turned their heads in the cafeteria. “Aha!”
I glared at both of them. Almost growling at them when suddenly, I can’t see anything. Someone covered my eyes with their hands.
“Guess who?” The owner of the hands said. It was clear with his voice so I huffed. “Luke.”
Luke still didn’t remove his hands. “Nope.”
I sighed, tired. “This is not the right timing, Luke. Not now.”
“Well, it’s just your prince charming.” He removed his hands and sat beside me. “What’s wrong, my Snow?”
Ever since last Saturday, Luke was getting cheesier each passing day. It was sweet, yes. But now that my ovaries are terrorizing my stomach, I don’t have the plan to get all mushy and stuff.
Emma warned him. “Luke, no. You’ll die.”
Luke just chuckled. “It’s fine. Don’t worry.” He threw his arms around me and squeezed me, my stomach pain just getting terrible.
With this, I pushed him away, clenching my stomach dearly. “Ouch, that was painful, Luke.”
Luke pouted, hugging me carefully now, “Awe, I’m sorry babe, I won’t do it again.”
“Well, you did punch me anyway,” Dax interrupted, clenching his shoulders the spot that I had punched.
I just glared at him and drank water.
“Here.” Luke handed me medicine. I stared at it then grabbed it. “Thank you.”
Just then, when Hannah saw it, she growled at Luke, “Did you just carry that? All this time? What about the time when I got menstrual cramps last week?”
Luke just winked at her. “She’s my girlfriend and you’re not. Sorry, sis.”
“You….. evil… Grrrr!!!! I’m telling this to mom!”
“Go ahead,” Luke smirked before eating his lunch and Hannah wasn’t able to do anything but scoff at him.
“By the way, we’re not complete.” Emma scanned her eyes around. “Where’s Eion by the way?
“Probably busy glaring at someone at the moment,” I mumbled.
“Why are you looking for him? I’m here, Emma.” Dax pouted at Emma. I sent Dax a look that said, ‘really?’
“Well, who knows? Knowing Eion…” Luke trailed off. We fell into complete silence, remembering last Friday night. Suddenly, Leroy burst into fits of laughter. We all turned to look at him, thinking he was mad.
“Loosen up, guys! You’ll get older that easily with that frown on your face. And I’ll end up getting the most handsome in the group…” His face has this very proud look, boasting. Leroy glanced at Hannah briefly.
At this, Hannah stood up. “I have to go guys, see ya later.” Before I had the chance to ask her why she was already heading to the exit and skipping down the hall.
Well. That was odd. I sent Leroy a questioning look, raising my eyebrows, “What? Was it bad that I was just being honest to you guys?”
Although he has this goofy smile on his face, looking like he has no clue, his eyes told otherwise that he’s far from being innocent.
