“Well, sorry to inform you. But you are mine. And now that you are mine, I wouldn’t do something that will waste my effort of courting you.” He said sincerely, his tone was so sure.
I looked at him disbelievingly, smiling for him to know that I was just joking. I was about to tell a remark when the sound of a screeching chair sounded through the clatter and a boy stood up. Eion. He whispered something to Dax and after a few words, Dax nodded before the robot walked away.
“Where did he go?” Asked Luke from beside me, voicing my thoughts.
“He was just going to check for his car, he said he left his phone.” Dax shrugged before talking with Emma. More like flirting.
The waiter came to our table and served our orders. We thanked him once he was finished before digging in.
Luke offered to feed me but I shook my head no. I can take care of myself, and I have my own hands. Thank you very much.
I devour each and every bite as if the whole food would vanish in a minute. Savoring the delicious meal, I could feel Luke’s stare beside me. I reached for my glass of water and raised my eyebrows at him. “Stop staring, I’m eating.”
He blushed before shrugging, “Well, was it bad if I want to stare at you?”
“Uhm, yeah?” I answered honestly, quite unsure. “And maybe you’ll think I am some crazy psycho who didn’t eat for five years.”
He chuckled at my response. “Well, actually I do.”
“Good. That way you’ll know the truth and you still have the chance to change your mind and replace me.”
He just stared at me weirdly before busting into a fist of laughter. “Never mind, just focus on your food.” He said. “It’s just… I couldn’t believe everything that happened today. It felt like a dream.”
“Me too.” I admitted. He smiled, wiping food left on my mouth and licking his lips.
“Gosh Luke!” I said, shaking my head at him. Really, his flirting skills just doubled now that we are together. I mean, not that I don’t like it but please slow down a bit.
My heart couldn’t take it all. Returning on eating, we finished everything and I noticed Dax standing up and heading to the mini stage.
“Luke? What is Dax planning to do?” I asked him, Luke’s left hand held mine while his other hand rested on my shoulders, leaning on me.
“He’ll sing, obviously.” He slurped a little. My eyes trailed to the glass he was holding. Great, they were drinking some wine.
Luke noticed the trail of my eyes. “Oh, this? Don’t worry we’re just drinking a little.”
Oh yes, “a little”enough to cause you to slurp, Luke. I can’t help but shake my head.
“This is for the Dax’s Avenger Squad!” Dax boomed to the microphone in front, holding his glass of wine higher for a toss. We all clapped as the boys wolf-whistled noisily. He said something to the Dj who was sitting from the back and a familiar tune played.
“I wanna follow where she goes
I think about her and she knows it
I wanna let her take control
‘Cause every time that she gets close, yeah”
I saw Dax’s eyes flashing to Emma and winking, and Emma just rolled her eyes. Dax then continued shining, now closing his eyes and feeling the song.
“She pulls me in enough to keep me guessing, mmm
And maybe I should stop and start confessing
Confessing, yeah
Oh, I’ve been shaking
I love it when you go crazy
You take all my inhibitions
Baby, there’s nothing holdin’ me back.”
The lyrics continued on for a minute, with him acting mischievously with his random boyish moves. Finishing his song, he bowed for everyone and took a seat. “So, who’s next?” He asked.
“How about Emma?” I flashed her a knowing smile, wiggling my eyebrows.
“I don’t really sing….” She trailed off.
“Oh c’mon, don’t be a killjoy, Emma. Besides, Dax wants to hear you sing, right Dax?” Hannah interrupted, helping me to my plan of making her sing.
“Of course, yes. That would be my pleasure… Emma?” He raised his eyebrows suggestively at her. Knowing that she was defeated, she sighed before standing up.
We cheered for her and she grabbed the microphone and asked for the Dj to play a song.
“Boys seem to like the girls
Who laugh at anything
The ones who get undressed
Before the second date
Girls seem to like the boys
Who don’t appreciate
All the money and the time that it takes”
When she finished singing, Leroy grinned at us and stood up proudly. “It’s showtime!” He exclaimed.
“Cause I’ve been
Thinking ’bout you lately.
Maybe you could save me,
From this crazy world, we live in.
And I know we could happen,
Cause you know that I’ve been feeling you.
I know you want me.”
I watched Hannah’s eyes as she gazed at Leroy. I swear there was a drool in her mouth watching his crush. At the stage, Leroy’s eyes keep on casting a glance at Hannah a lot of times. Hannah noticed my stare at her so she raised her eyebrows and I chuckled at her.
“Why don’t you sing?” I mouthed the words to her. Her eyes widened and shook her head no vigorously. Well, well, well. I guess I don’t have a choice then.
As Leroy finished his song, he headed towards us wearing this proud look on his face. “What? My performance there was good, wasn’t it?” He high-fived Eion beside him who just shrugged in reply, looking bored.
“Yes, that was great, Leroy. Right, Hannah?” I looked at her pointedly. Her cheeks redden. “Y-yeah. I mean, it was good.”
“See? Why don’t you sing, Hannah?” I pushed, giving her an innocent look.
“Uhm-”
Leroy smirked. “C’mon, Hannah, don’t be shy from my performance, it was nothing.”
She looked at me, then back at Leroy, then to the group, and sighed. Yes! My charms worked! Having no choice, she stood up and grabbed the mic, telling the Dj what the song is.
“I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don’t let me don’t let me don’t let me down
I think I’m losing my mind now
It’s in my head, darling I hope
That you’ll be here, when I need you the most
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
D-Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down”
She ran out of breath when she was finished.
“How was it?” She whispered at me, panting lightly.
“That was good, Emma.” I complimented her. Her cheeks turned red and she took a seat. I glanced at Leroy, who was watching her intently when she sang earlier. “Right, Leroy?” I asked sweetly.
At my question, he was pulled from his trance and looked at me dumbfounded. “Uhm, oh yeah,” he stuttered. Leroy, Leroy, Leroy, what an innocent brain…
Distracted from my thoughts, I didn’t realize that Luke went to the mini stage and grabbed the mic.
“I found a love for me”
