EPISODE HUNDRED AND FIFTY
THEME: The Ranks
MOON STONE FORTRESS
While Sebastian made calls to the people he had mention earlier. Rex tutored Jaylen on the people taking part in the order of the Fortress.
“How is it that I don’t know anyone till now?” Jaylen questioned.
“You have never been actually initiated yet and the day of your unveiling didn’t exactly go as planned. Your tantrums was enough to piss one off.” Rex blurted as he shot him an intentional glare.
Jaylen snickered at him. “You know what, forget I said anything. Give me a briefing about them before they all get here and think I have some kind of Alzheimer. I can’t even remember we were tutored on these ranks when we were little.”
“If you weren’t away for so long one would have thought that was the case” Rex mumbled under his breath.
“I can actually hear you.”
Rex chuckled lightly. “Now listen, the Zeta-”
“Is the War General.” Jaylen interrupted looking a bit offended. “I am not that dumb you know, I lived here for at least fifteen years.”
“Fine! I thought you don’t remember being tutored about these things.” Rex huffed. “The MUNUXI Group are the most powerful group in the Fortress and they have twelve functions. They are the backbone of the Fortress and the group consists of 12 wolves in number but just having three main leaders MU, NU and Xi and of both genders.”
“Okay…so the functions again please.” Jaylen paid full attention.
“They are the peace keepers of the Fortress using mediation between those who are angry with one another. They make sure no fight breaks out within the Fortress. They report to the Alpha if a peace treaty proved impossible. They work hand in hand with the Zelta or Epsilon and Keppa. They are the sentries of the pack. They keep track of natural resources. They find areas of abundant food for the pack. They keep an eye on the Fortress resources for example a water supplies, food supplies and material supplies. They are known as resource watcher. They are called the backbone of the Fortress. They formulate treaties and pass it down to the Alpha to be reviewed by the Beta, Delta, Zeta and Gammas. That’s all I can remember for now.”
“So who are the three main leaders?” Jaylen asked.
“The three main leaders of the group that you will be dealing with mostly are MU Mason, NU Aisling, XI Basileus. I hope that is understandable or I still need to break it down?”
Jaylen tilted his head to the side. “Is that you trying to taunt me right now, Rex? I am a smart and well educated young man who knows a whole lot of things.”
Rex did a mock bow. “Oh sorry Albert, didn’t realize your Einstein would be offended.”
“You goat!” Jaylen chortled as he threw a rough sheet at him.
Sebastian turned to look at both men throwing jabs at each other. It turned a kind of wheel inside of him that he couldn’t explain. In history of the wolves, Alphas make the Betas their best friends. However, Jaylen appears to prefer Rex’s company than his.
“I want to believe this is a more serious situation than the way you both are taking it. Can you keep your love affair till all of this is done?!” He blurted behind them.
Rex gave a dismissive look while Jaylen looked away uncomfortably as he swallowed hard. Few minutes later, Sebastian stepped out to bring in the people he had called onto.
Zeta Ragnak had a weird sort of expression on his face that was almost funny. “What exactly is going on? Why would anyone be planning an attack on us at this time?”
“This had better not be as bad as I am thinking. We have enough on our plate than to deal with a brooding war right now.” NU Aisling said as she settled down on the available couch.
“It would be nice if you all try to listen before coming to a conclusion.” Sebastian said with a stern look. They all kept mute, looking at alert to listen to what he has to say. “Do the honors Rex.”
Rex cleared his throat. “Actually Zeta Ragnak, one of your warriors has betrayed the Fortress and given the Secret Passage Map out.”
“Who?” Zeta Ragnak inquired.
“Juno” He replied.
They gasped out in shock.
“That’s Delta Julio’s daughter. How would she know about the Secret Passage Map?” MU Mason asked.
There was a long pause in the room as Jaylen could see that Sebastian and Rex were trying to figure something else to say other than the truth.
“My brother Jayden did.” Jaylen told them. Another shocking gasps spread through the room again.
“This is a terrible news. How can Jayden do that?” XI Basileus who had been quiet for a while uttered.
“It’s obviously to get revenge. But how stupid can he get planning against his own birth home like that?” Aisling hissed.
“Your manners please.” Sebastian glared at them.
“Sorry.” They all muttered.
Rex continued when they had all calmed down. “Well it turns out Juno and Jayden are in cohort with the Rogues living off the borders of the Fortress. I don’t know what they are planning but whatever it is, it’s not healthy for our peace of mind which is why we need to counter them and act fast.”
Mason raised a hand. “Pardon me if this sounds rude, but how do we access the passage with the map gone?”
Sebastian folded his hands as he held everyone’s gaze. “I want to believe you know technology is one beautiful miracle. I have a soft copy of the map saved on my iCloud as instructed by the late Alpha. So you have nothing to worry about. Moreover, the map is an old version and does not have the recent additions of the passage in it. So, I guess this is explanatory enough.”
“When should I gather my men?” Zeta Ragnak inquired.
“This very night or should I say morning it’s past midnight already.” Sebastian responded.
“The bone of contention is to block every entrances that leads here and stop them from attacking us which implies we would be standing guard at the gate itself. Letting them into the secret passage before retaliating would be too much of a bother. And I expect the army to be discreet enough in showing themselves, we don’t need to let them see us before showing ourselves.” Jaylen gave out instructions.
Listening to all of them bring in more suggestions to fight off the Rogues, he had been able to pick some vital things from the discussion. His long walk away from the Fortress had led to him knowing just little about the activities of the birth home. The little he has been learning for the past few weeks was all from Rex. Moreover, he is a leader in his own form but might not just related to the Fortress way of carrying out things.
“And as for the groups, please ensure that the Fortress resources are intact cause we have no idea how long this might last. Let me know whatever might be lacking immediately.” Sebastian added.
XI Basileus stifled a yawn. “We would do just that.”
“I will get my warriors on standby, we would be expecting you at the attack ground.” Zeta Ragnak bowed towards Jaylen. He walked out of the study and was immediately followed by the others.
“I can’t believe the first thing my morning begins with is planning a war. I never signed up for this.” Jaylen grumbled next to Rex. It was an intentional attempt at annoying him.
Sebastian rolled his eyes. “Are you always this dramatic?”
“Appears you don’t know much about Jaylen then, he gets serious with nothing.” Rex sighed as he leaned into the chair further. He was exhausted and his eyes were feeling heavy from the lack of sleep.
Jaylen looked up at the time. “What? It’s five in the morning already?”
“So?” Sebastian and Rex bellowed at the same time.
“I have never stayed this up late before unless I am after a big contract deal.” He pouted.
“Is he making a joke?” Sebastian directed at Rex.
“Ask him yourself.” Rex disassociated himself.
Jaylen chuckled. “It’s okay guys. I am only trying to lessen the tensed surrounding. I feel guilty for all of this but I promise to do whatever it is I can to resolve this.” He clicked his tongue. “I am just as disturbed as you all. Thanks for the support.” He said sincerely.
“This has nothing to do with you, Jaylen. Your twin brother knows all of these things but has refused to be thoughtful. He didn’t entirely lose, Jayden is in charge of all of the companies your dad ever owned. Being an Alpha is more of a burden, but it is obvious he wouldn’t understand that.” Sebastian said as he rubbed at his neck.
He felt sorry for his best friend. As much as Jayden was rude and uncouth, Sebastian had never thought he would get so obsessed with becoming an Alpha and lose all of his morals in the process.
“Thanks for that, Sebastian. The next thing to do is announce to the family. I really hate being a bearer of bad news.” Jaylen mumbled.
