EPISODE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE
THEME: A natural consoler
MOON STONE FORTRESS
Lorelei stood by the door leaning into the crack the door left to watch the exchange between Jaylen and the lady he claimed to be just a friend. She would never seem to understand him, he would say something now and do otherwise later on.
There was no way she would be made to believe that Jaylen and Adriel weren’t once lovers. He wouldn’t pull just a friend so close to himself while kissing her hair. Just when she made an attempt to leave, Jaylen stepped out holding hands with Adriel who was grinning from ear to ear.
“Hey baby, you are still here.” Jaylen smiled at Lorelei as he let go of Adriel’s hand to hold hers.
Lorelei shifted back a bit. “I was just about to leave.” She said before running down the hallway.
Adriel had a worried look on her face. “I think you should go after her.”
“Maybe that’s a good idea.” Jaylen heaved a sigh as he ran after her. He caught up with her at the lake crying profusely. “What is the matter baby?”
Lorelei turned to him looking livid. “You lying cheating bastard!” Lorelei screamed at him, landing some splashes of spittle on his face.
“What do you mean by that?” He asked with a confused look.
“I thought you said you have nothing to do with her? But then you had me sent out of the room and you were in there for more than thirty minutes, holding her tightly and kissing.”
“Did you just lie against me?”
“Weren’t you kissing her hair?!” She snapped at him.
Jaylen chuckled dryly. “Is this some sort of joke right now? Why must everything be about you?”
“Is that what you think? That it’s just about me? You are the one trying to take me for a fool here. I must be stupid to have believed you the first time!” She cried.
“I don’t want to start thinking you have lost your mind. I love you so much, Lorelei, but you make it so hard to do. This was all you did when you saw Juno and I together. Was I suppose to let you in the room and make Adriel feel uncomfortable? She is my friend and I needed to be there for her. Why can’t you just understand something as simple as that?”
“Are you referring to me as stupid?!” Lorelei raised her voice at him.
“What?” Jaylen stared in shock. “You really don’t mean what you are saying right now, right? When did I call you that?”
Lorelei held out a finger at him. “Oh now I get it! It is obvious you think I am your play toy. But I tell you Jaylen you missed this time!” She seethed her teeth.
“Stop it already, Lorelei! I have had enough of your childish tantrums! I am going through real life problems here and this is all you are about. How many times am I to explain myself? Shouldn’t you know me enough by now? I have so much bothering me, but I still try my best to not act petty. But you hardly have anything to worry about and you keep tormenting me. You know what? I have had enough of being tossed around by you. This is the end of it! I can’t believe I risked my whole life to be here with you! I am done!” Jaylen turned around and stormed off without sparing her a glance.
Lorelei’s heart clenched as he moved farther away from her. Her legs gave out underneath her and she fell to the ground. Every word he said rang in her ears and she couldn’t deny any of it. She wanted to call out to him but no words came out of her mouth.
Rosalyn who had just gotten back from a brunch with Sebastian and had been watching from afar walked towards her. “Here, get up.” She said, trying to help Lorelei stand to her feet.
Lorelei resisted the help. “I am just fine like this.”
“No, you are not. And those legs won’t thank you when you eventually decide to get up.” Rosalyn insisted.
Lorelei stared up at Rosalyn. “I think… at this point…I might never be able to get him back.” She cried.
Rosalyn waved a dismissive hand. “Oh please, that’s an illusion. That man loves you like crazy and he would never get over you.”
“But he does…otherwise.” Lorelei muttered.
“I don’t see it that way.” Sitting next Lorelei, Rosalyn folded her legs and stared into the lake.
Lorelei imitated her sitting posture and she let the tears flow uncontrollably. “Sebastian always told me of how petty I was. I guess he was right after all.”
“He is your brother. The only one who can tell you the bitter truth. I am glad you are admitting to it.”
Lorelei chuckled with a loud sniff. “There was no need to rub it in my face.”
Rosalyn laughed lightly too. “I would love to explain some things about Jaylen to you. I really do hope you wouldn’t feel uncomfortable being that I have known him longer than you do.”
“It’s okay.” She said.
Rosalyn sat upright as she took in a deep breathe. “Ever since I have known Jaylen, I realized he is every girl’s dream man. He is hardworking, handsome, respectful, caring and very thoughtful too. It made those he chose to be close to cherish him a whole lot and it was hard to not fall in love with him. If Jaylen hears of me being sick, forgetting he is the boss, he would drop everything else to be by my side. So it got to a point that I wanted him beyond just being my boss and best friend. When I did have the courage to tell it to him, he didn’t rub it in my face. He was polite enough to tell me how crazy he was about you and how much he would hate to lose me and he made a promise to stand by me till eternity. That’s funny, but Jaylen would do so if chanced. My point is, he is naturally a consoler. He tries to understand people and not judge them. Instead, he offers a shoulder to cry on and a back to lean on. If he didn’t love you enough, he would have long started an affair with Adriel since I was trying so hard to match them together. But I didn’t know she was a bit loco. Please, don’t let your man off all in the name of being jealous. Jaylen is a real one and I mean it. So please just give him time, you both would work this out.”
Lorelei chewed on her lips sadly. “Thanks for this truth Rosalyn. I appreciate you opening up.”
“You are always welcome.” Making an attempt to stand up, Rosalyn sat back down. “I would like to ask. I hope you don’t mind if I get involved with your brother considering the fact that I am a human?”
Lorelei smiled genuinely. “I knew it! Since you arrived there has been a different kind of glow I have never seen on Sebastian before and I think you both are just right for each other.”
“Thanks for those reassuring words.”
“Thank you too.” Lorelei mumbled as they both hugged each other.
